Abstract

The roof lining module for a motor vehicle has a flat lining section (12) spanning the inner side of the roof, and at least one airbag unit (16) installed thereupon and including a downwards deploying airbag (18) and a gas generator (20) to inflate it. The lining section on its longitudinal side edges has at least one rotatable cover flap (22) for the inclusion of the airbag in sandwich fashion. The lining section is formed in one piece with the cover flap, preferably as an expanded plastic preformed part. An independent claim is included for a method for the fitting of a roof lining in a motor vehicle in which the lining section and airbag unit are fastened as a module to the inner side of the motor vehicle.
