Abstract
In a process to spin and texturize a synthetic thread, numerous hotmelt polymer filaments are extruded from a die and are combined under heat into a plug thread, followed by loosening and cooling of the filaments. The thread passes then over a smooth surface where the filaments are loosened by tension under the braking action of a transverse air flow. The transverse air flow is generated by the suction of air through a plate hole as the thread passes over the windward side. The thread remains in contact with the plate whether or not air is drawn through the plate. The thread is subjected to alternate air suck and blow action. The size of the hole is variable. Also claimed is a commensurate assembly.
