Abstract

A reformate is fed to a feeder side (6) of a membrane module (MM) (4). Purified hydrogen gas is passed from the MM's permeate side (5) to a fuel cell unit's (1) input (15) on an anode side. If a fuel cell system comes down, a medium is introduced into a pipe connection (20) between the MM and the input on the anode side. An independent claim is also included for a system for carrying out the method of the present invention.
