Device for steering and focusing a laser beam in the direction of a target object comprises a focusing unit (14) for focusing the laser beam (12), a rotating X-mirror (16) for receiving the laser beam and for deviating the laser beam, a rotating Y-mirror (18), and a stationary field mirror (20) for receiving the deviated laser beam from the Y-mirror and for deviating the beam onto the target object.
