Description
Glow Indicator Tube With Parallel Electrodes The invention relates to on a GIiminlichtindikatorstühr, whose anode and cathode made of wires or Rods. that are arranged parallel to the axis of the cylindrical tube, and wherein the wall is covered with a layer of atomized cathode material.
The purpose of the atomized cathode material on the tube wall is the tube to give constant properties. One is generally sufficient for this purpose translucent layer, but sometimes such sputtering is the The cathode requires that the layer does not allow enough light to pass through to the location of the To be able to observe cathode glow. Also the blackening of the wall decreases during of the operation of the tube. Anyway, the brightness of the glow light — it's considerable less than with an uncovered tube wall.
The invention provides a tube, as is part of its wall with longer atomization and / or with longer operation only to a small extent an atomized layer is covered so that the glow light remains visible.
With a Gliminlichtindikatorröllire, the anode and cathode off There are wires and / or rods that are parallel to the axis of the cylindrical Extend tube, and at which the wall mostly atomized with a layer Cathode material is coated, is the mutual arrangement according to the invention the anode is the cathode in connection with its measurement in this way. that part the wall behind Ger Anode, seen from the cathode, essentially completely is free of atomized material, and the pressure is chosen such that the pear is not directed towards the anode Cathode seen, has a width wclclw that of the anode.
Preferably the anode is a cylindrical rod with a thickness equal to 0.1 to 0.25 times the tube diameter. This rod is no more than half its diameter from the wall. The cathode should then consist of a thin wire or a flat rod, with one narrow side facing the anode. The anode rod expediently touches the tube wall, and the cathode is arranged as far from the anode as is permissible in connection with the propagation of the glowing light. The wall in the seam of the anode remains practically free of atomized material. The greater distance between the cathode and the anode has the consequence that the wall covering in the vicinity of the anode is less, and a flat cathode has the advantage that the glow light has a more favorable shape when the tube is in operation than with a wire-shaped cathode.
The invention is explained in more detail with reference to the drawing. 1 and 2 are a section perpendicular and parallel to the axis of a tube according to the invention, respectively, and Fig. 3 is a section perpendicular to the axis of another embodiment.
Der Druck des Gases, Neon mit 1 1/o Argon, ist 20 mm.In FIGS. 1 and 2, 1 denotes the tube waad, in the bottom part 2 of which the pump tube and a number of electrode end guides are located. In the tube there are a tubular cathode 3, a thick anode rod 4 and a short auxiliary anode 5 . The auxiliary diode serves to maintain the glow discharge when the current is low and to achieve that a certain current intensity corresponds to a certain glow, light limit. The atomized Kathodenmatcrials # hicht on the wall in FIG. 1 bezeidiiiet 6. From this figure it can be seen that a part 7 is not or substantially not covered. The pressure in the tube is chosen so that the glowing light is located in the area indicated by # of the dashed line 8. This glowing light is visible through the wall part 7. In one particular case, the diameter of the tube is 3.6 mm, the diameter of the anode 0.6 mm and its distance from the wall 0.3 mm. The cathode is 0.3 mm thick and the distance from the wall and from the anode is 1.2 minutes and the pressure of the gas, neon with 1 ½ argon, is 20 mm.
