B. zwölf, in gerader Linie angeordneter, gußeiserner,
Use of a copper alloy as the material for the grinding surfaces
of grinding tools for sheet glass In the manufacture of polished sheet glass
the rolled Rob glas is first ground on both sides to. the surfaces
to make them even and parallel to each other. This is done in a continuous process,
the glass being of a number, e.g. B. twelve, in a straight line, cast iron,

which moves steadily under the grinding tools.
The working surfaces of the grinding tools contain outwardly directed

The purpose of sanding is to create a sanded surface with the finest

to remove the deepest scars of the smooth surface. A microscopic examination
the finely ground surfaces show a uniform structure, with extraordinary

a lot of the polishing work by removing the material to the bottom!
the scar is caused after the surface itself is polished.

Tests carried out with tools whose grinding surfaces consist of a lead-bronze alloy according to the invention have shown that lead-bronze alloys with 5 to 300% lead show considerable advantages over cast iron tools with regard to the quality of the fine grinding. The less lead the tools contain, the lower the wear, but with a still relatively low wear, a particularly good finish is achieved if the lead content is between 15 and 200 / o. If the lead content rises above 200 / o, the quality drops: the fine-tuning compared to that which is reached with a lead content of 200 / o. The degree of wear and tear also increases.
