Abstract
Today, during the checkout process, each item must be recorded individually either by the customer himself or by the cashier staff using a cash register system. The present invention identifies inventory changes directly on the shelf and links them to the customer who has removed the goods from the shelf. This can be done by sending the customer and item information to a central system or by writing it to a transponder attached to the customer. The customer identifies himself using a combination of transmitter and receiver technology, which is attached to both the customer and the goods chute. The payment process can then take place automatically without recording the goods, for example at a self-pay checkout or via a mobile payment application.
Description
The cashier-free shopping market is the goal of numerous retail chains worldwide. This improves the customer's shopping experience because they do not have to wait in line at a checkout and place the goods from the shopping cart onto the conveyor belt. The abolition of the checkout area also contributes to the reduction of staff and thus to savings in personnel costs for the supermarket.
In the cashier-free shopping market, the customer receives identifying technology; a combination of different transmitters and receivers detects the change in inventory as well as the customer's access to a specific storage area and connects this inventory change with the customer. After completing the shopping process, the customer then pays for their purchase either digitally or at a payment terminal.
The invention relates to methods and arrangements for completely or partially eliminating cash register systems, which save the customer from queuing and loading and unloading their purchases. Customers are identified using transmitter-receiver technology, inventory levels and their changes are determined using sensors and linked to the customer along with data such as price or item number.
The system does not determine the inventory of goods or the changes in the inventory through the interaction of a transponder on the customer with a receiving device. Likewise, the customer does not have the opportunity to determine the payment option while passing through the transition area, as this occurs without the user stopping or causing any other delay.
The present invention includes systems that work with transmitter-receiver technology and are used for the purpose of cashier-free payment in such a way that a device carries out at least the steps of the method explained in this description.
At the start of the purchasing process, a medium is created for the customer either mechanically or manually for the purpose of attaching transmitter or receiver technology.
The medium can also be created independently by the customer for the purpose of attaching transmitter or receiver technology; this can be provided by the dealer or purchased independently.
After identifying the customer using transmitter or receiver technology, data on the removed item such as number and item number are sent to a cash register system. The number of items removed is determined by sensors, for example by measuring the distance between the wall and the goods or by determining the weight.
The invention also includes describing the technology located at the customer. Here, the data is written directly to the technology mentioned instead of being sent.
To complete their purchase, the customer can choose two ways: The first describes the direct payment process. The outstanding invoice is paid directly when the customer interacts with the mobile phone using a so-called app or any card with the technology on his or her hand. The second option is for the customer to pay their bill using a self-pay cash register. This requires contact with the technology located at the customer and the technology located at the checkout.
After the invoice has been paid, the medium for fastening the technology is removed from the customer either mechanically or manually. If the customer has this, passing through the barrier system is sufficient.
-
1 shows an example of a goods chute. If the user reaches into the goods chute, the transmitter-receiver technology (1) attached to the goods chute recognizes the customer based on the transmitter-receiver technology (2) attached to the customer's arm. After the customer's arm is no longer detected by the transmitter-receiver technology on the goods chute (1), which determines the weight difference before and after the customer is recognized using data from a weighing surface (3), then determines the number of items removed and communicates with the customer connected. -
2 shows an exemplary embodiment of a goods chute that determines the number of items removed using the distance method. Instead of the weighing surface in1 a distance sensor (3) is used. Otherwise the process is analogous. -
3 shows an exemplary embodiment of a shelf adapted to the system. (1) represents a goods chute, while (2) represents a computing device, for example a microcontroller, which receives the signals from the transmitter-receiver technology attached to the goods chute (see1 (1) ) and sensors (see1 (2) or.2 (2) ) receives and the below1 unf 2 carries out the calculations described. -
4 shows an exemplary embodiment of a correspondingly converted sales location. At the entrance gate (1), the customer puts the transmitter-receiver technology on his arm. After shopping, he can pay for the purchase either at a self-pay checkout (2) or using a mobile payment application. The payment is registered by a central system and linked to the customer. Finally, the customer identifies himself at the exit gate (3) using transmitter-receiver technology and if payment has been made correctly, the gate opens.
