Abstract

The invention includes a device for securing loads in vehicles, in particular motor vehicles, in order to prevent objects located in the floor area of vehicles from entering the footwell of the vehicle driver and vehicle occupants. The movement of the objects can be caused, for example, by a braking delay or a shock. According to the invention, it is therefore provided to arrange a safety device in the area of the seats, in particular the driver's seat. Essentially, the catching device is arranged transversely to the direction of travel or vertically to the longitudinal center axis of the vehicle. The safety catcher is designed as part of the doormat, preferably arranged on the seat side as a raised edge or as a net.

Description

The invention includes a device for securing loads in vehicles, in particular motor vehicles, in order to prevent objects located in the floor area of vehicles from entering the footwell of the vehicle driver and vehicle occupants. The movement of the objects can be caused, for example, by a braking delay or a shock.

It is known from the prior art that objects in the vehicle interior “can endanger the life and limb of all occupants”. Regarding the possible consequences, the following is stated: “If, for example, a bottle gets into the footwell, you are not only distracted, it can also get caught under the pedals and thus lead to a serious accident” (c). There is also a risk of fines, entries in the register of fitness to drive, commonly known as “points in Flensburg”, and even the loss of insurance cover from comprehensive insurance (d).

Furthermore, it is known from the prior art that there are various built-in parts such as upstands, cable guides and control elements under the front seats, here in particular for seat adjustment and seating comfort. Since these built-in parts are not arranged side by side but rather according to functionality, objects located in the floor area cannot be reliably prevented from entering the footwell of the seats.

While driving the vehicle, objects can get into the footwell of the seats, particularly dangerous for the driver. This is why vehicle manufacturers recommend “never placing objects in the driver’s footwell. “An object can get into the area of the pedals and hinder the operation of the pedals” (b), ditto (a). However, this recommendation cannot be conclusive because, for example, objects that are in the back seat can end up on the vehicle floor. This can apply, for example, to toys that are accidentally dropped by children.

The invention is therefore based on the object of developing a safety device for the floor area of vehicles for catching objects located in the floor area in order to further increase safety in the vehicle.

The task is solved by the features described in claims 1 to 13. Further advantageous embodiments of the invention result from the subclaims and the exemplary embodiments preferred in the following description.

Location and arrangement:

According to the invention, it is therefore provided to arrange a safety device in vehicles, here in particular motor vehicles, below the seats including surrounding areas, preferably in the area of the front seats. The job of the safety catcher is to prevent objects from entering the footwell. This can be caused in particular by braking delays. Drawings 1 and 2 show a section through a vehicle, section vertical to the vehicle's longitudinal center axis in the area of the footwell of the front seats, looking towards the front seats.

According to the invention, it is provided that the catching device is connected to the doormat and/or as a component of the floor mats (claim 1). In a preferred embodiment, the catching device is arranged on the side of the doormat that is closest to the assigned seat (claim 2). The side end of the safety catcher can preferably be guided to the inside of the vehicle (claim 4) or center console (claim 5). In a preferred embodiment, the direct connection to the surrounding components such as the center console, underside of the seat or vehicle interior is not necessary due to the minimum size of the objects that have to be caught.

Preferably, provision is made for the safety gear to be arranged essentially transversely to the direction of travel or vertically to the vehicle's longitudinal centerline in order to optimally counteract the braking deceleration and to minimize the space and material requirements (claim 3).

Materials, fastening, shape:

According to the invention, various configurations of the catching device are provided. A flat design is preferably provided, which can be designed as a raised edge on the seat side. (Claim 7). The catching device can preferably be folded or folded several times, for example to increase stability (claim 8). Drawing 3 shows an exemplary embodiment with the feature that the safety device (4) is part of the doormat (6). The position of the safety gear is, as in all drawings, exemplary and can be shifted vertically to the vehicle's longitudinal centerline or vertically to the direction of travel ben. Furthermore, the height of the upstand is also shown as an example in all drawings.

Preferably, the catching device is made of solid (claim 9) or flexible (claim 10) material. Textile fabrics are also preferably provided (claim 11) or network structures (claim 12) in order to save weight and ensure air circulation. The attachment of the catching devices can preferably be done in a line and/or point shape (claim 6).

According to the invention, it is also provided to arrange three-dimensional bodies, for example rectangular ones, as catch bodies (claim 13). These bodies can consist of solid and/or flexible material (claim 9.10). Drawings 4 and 5 show a preferred exemplary embodiment; the catching device was designed as a trapezoid, for example. In drawing 4, the cutting plane is shown parallel to the main direction of travel. Drawing 5 shows the view of the safety catcher when cut vertically to the main direction of travel in the area of the doormat, looking in the direction of the safety catcher.

Finally, it should be noted that the structure and arrangement of the described embodiments of the safety gear are merely examples. It will be apparent to those skilled in the art that other embodiments are possible, including variations in size, dimension, structure, shape and proportions of the safety catcher, as well as other attachment arrangements, without fundamentally departing from the embodiments described herein. These deviations are therefore the content of the patent claims.

This invention increases the safety of the driver and vehicle occupants because it prevents objects from getting into the footwell of the vehicle driver and vehicle occupants, thereby avoiding accidents.
