Abstract

Thousands of trips take place around the world every year. Travel documents must be kept ready for each leg of the journey, which is time-consuming and error-prone. If travel documents are lost, they have to be obtained, which is time-consuming and costly.

Furthermore, when traveling, a correspondingly large number of pieces of luggage, mostly in the form of suitcases, are transported. It cannot be ruled out that a piece of luggage is also lost during the journey or its whereabouts are unclear, since passengers and their luggage are usually handled separately and sometimes also transported during a journey. It is not uncommon for items of luggage to arrive at a different location than their owners. It is also possible that luggage will arrive late - sometimes by days - at the desired location, such as an airport or seaport. In any case, this is very annoying for the traveler concerned, since he may be absolutely dependent on his luggage or he cannot wait for the piece of luggage to arrive, since the traveler cannot wait any longer and must continue his journey. Added to this is the stress of contacting the travel company responsible for this. This can additionally be particularly difficult due to abroad.

At present, each travel company creates separate travel documents for each leg of the journey for each passenger. In the case of a trip with several means of travel or with several stages of the trip, which are carried out by different travel companies, a corresponding number of travel documents must also be kept available. This is tedious and sometimes complicated, especially when there are unforeseen changes in the itinerary. The same applies to luggage. In order to assign a destination or a specific travel route to a piece of luggage, it is currently provided with a luggage label issued by the respective travel company when the luggage is checked in. At least the name of the traveler to whom the piece of luggage belongs, the place of departure and destination and the date of travel are stated on the luggage tag. The information is also included as a machine-readable image in the form of a barcode on the baggage tag, so that baggage sorting machines and baggage check-in staff can quickly scan the baggage digitally and transport it accordingly to the desired destination.

It is necessary to create or apply a new baggage label for each piece of baggage for each leg of the journey. On the one hand, this represents a high level of environmental pollution and, on the other hand, involves a great deal of organizational effort. Furthermore, the piece of luggage is not or no longer integrated into the luggage logistics of the tour operator before the luggage is checked in and after arrival at the destination. If a piece of luggage is lost before or after the trip, for example on the way from the multi-storey car park to the luggage counter, it can no longer be traced back to its rightful owner. The baggage is lost.

Furthermore, with previous luggage labels, it is necessary that all travel data relevant to the piece of luggage are also printed in a way that is visible to everyone. This is questionable in terms of data protection law and incompatible with the currently applicable General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) of the European Union (EU).

Accordingly, boarding passes are now issued individually, specifically for each trip, on site.

An object of an embodiment according to the invention can therefore be seen as making it possible, on the one hand, to provide uniform and universally usable travel documents for all stages of the journey and, on the other hand, to track items of luggage at any time and, in the event of loss, to find them anywhere in the world in a simple and uncomplicated manner. without the respective piece of luggage having to be equipped with mobile data communication and location determination.

According to one aspect, such an embodiment relates to a possible core idea according to the invention, a method for the computer-aided processing of identification processes by processing participants, in particular in the context of travel, in particular air travel, using at least one data processing device that is connected to a database, the database having at least one application interface and has at least one data record with at least one data field. Constant size means that the user, travel document, and baggage identification remain unchanged until the end of the registration period in the database, if not until the end of the user's lifetime for use in the invention.

Secure access to the identification cipher can be used to provide all processing participants involved in travel processing with access to the information data required for travel processing, not just for one trip/travel route, for example, but for any number of trips or travel routes .

In addition, all possible settlement participants can be integrated in a simple manner. This could include airlines, travel agencies and baggage handling service providers, but also insurance companies that need to be involved, for example, to protect against the loss of baggage or finders who find a lost piece of baggage and want to return it to the rightful owner.

A participant in the method according to the invention can then receive the status of a settlement participant in particular if he/she goes through a registration process in a similar way or receives or has a registration status like the user in the method. A user could also be referred to as a settlement participant based on his registration.

User information data can include all personal data about the user, which, in addition to address data including any e-mail addresses and telephone numbers, can also include scans of ID cards, possible visas, health passports and any type of biometric identification data.

According to the invention, baggage item information data that can provide information about the number, scope and content of the baggage items can be recorded separately from this.

Travel information data, which can provide information about one or more travel plans, can also be assigned to the user information data and/or item of baggage information data in the data set or via a separate data set.

The user registers advantageously via a website or APP as a user of the database, whereby a data set for the processing of trips is generated for the user during registration, which the user is uniquely and uniquely identified by the generated user identification and across all means of travel and travel routes as always constant, i. H. variable, i.e. assigned as a constant. The registration takes place via an input device, which can be a computer, laptop, tablet or smartphone.

The above data set is preferably designed as a user account, in which all processing information data that can be called up by the registered user is stored and can be released individually. For example, the said user information data can be, as already explained, in particular contact data, such as at least one e-mail address, telephone number or postal address or fax number, or at least one password for logging into the user account via the Internet .

The unique, clearly assignable user identification can be, for example, a number, an individually selectable user name or a permanent and clearly assignable identification cipher. In any case, the user identification is stored separately for each user in the database. For this purpose, when registering a new user, the database automatically checks whether the user identification intended for him or her is already in the database. If this is the case, a new user ID will be created or a new user ID will be requested from the user until the database can no longer detect any duplication of the user ID to be registered. In this way it can be effectively guaranteed that each user identification can also be clearly assigned to only one user.

With the user identification, the data set can also be read out anonymously, for example without specifying names or e-mail addresses, in a particularly advantageous manner. The user account is thus designed like a numbered account, for example, which means a high level of data security for the registered user. At the same time, the strict requirements of the GDPR are met by the EU.

Such a permanent and clearly assignable user identification can, for example, be a Global Unique Identifier (GUID) consisting of letters and numbers. It is also conceivable that a distinction is made between upper and lower case letters in the permanent and clearly assignable user identification and that special characters can also be listed. The permanent and clearly assignable user identification can be randomly generated by the data processing device or by the database. Permanent means that the user identification is only assigned once for each user and remains assigned to the respective user. In order to ensure that the user identification is not accidentally assigned twice, it has at least 25 digits. This also ensures that the user identification is unique, since the large number of variants of the user identification that can be generated in different ways means that the probability of two identical user identifications being generated by chance is practically zero.

The data processing device can store all assigned user identifications centrally in the database and when a new user registers, the database checks for duplication of the newly assigned user identification and, in the event of duplication, assigns a new user identification for the user to be registered.

Alternatively, the last user identification assigned by the data processing device can also be temporarily stored and counted up by a specific increment when a new user identification is assigned based on the last user identification assigned. Counting up does not only refer to numbers, but can also mean an alphabetical "counting up" with letters.

A further development also means that the data record can be read in and out by application users and/or third parties via the application interface. The data set can be supplemented with travel information data via the application interface or the travel information data can be assigned to the data set in the database and the travel information data can be supplemented and/or read out via the application interface by application participants and/or third parties.

According to the invention, this can advantageously be defined depending on the situation. The authorization status is then also part of the user information data.

A development according to the invention also consists in creating a global boarding pass for means of travel for the user on the basis of the travel document identification. In this case, the travel document identification is assigned to the global boarding pass, which can be individually specified and read out with processing information data relevant to trips or a trip in the database that can be linked and read out. The creation of the global boarding pass is preferred, automatically when registering the user. However, creation on demand by the user is also conceivable. The travel document identification is unique because it is only assigned once for a Global Boarding Pass.

For example, for secure authentication of a travel entitlement, the identification process for the Global Boarding Pass can be compared to the identification cipher in the sense described above, and if the identification cipher is successfully compared, identification access is only granted to the extent that a statement about a person in the database stored positive authorization status can be tapped, whereby the user qualifies, for example, for a specific journey or a specific travel section or for a specific means of travel or not. The travel document identification can be stored in its provision/generation analogous to the user identification in a data field in the user's data record and can be stored for the global boarding pass as a machine-readable encoded image or character in order to be used by external image capture and/or Image processing devices to be read.

With the help of this Global Boarding Pass, it is advantageously possible for the user, who is also a traveller, to travel across flights and trips with just one boarding pass. Because the Global Boarding Pass only refers to data stored or available in the database and ensures secure access by third parties, i. According to the invention, travel documents - such as a passport, visa, health card or similar, fingerprints, an iris or face scan in digital form - are preferably also stored in the data record by the user in a separate data field and can be read out as required . As a result, the travel documents are digitally stored securely. A passport can no longer be lost if it has been stored digitally in the database. Furthermore, this user information data is then accessible via the database and can be linked via the Global Boarding Pass for any travel purposes as far as necessary.

Advantageously, according to the invention, the piece of luggage identification can also be assigned in an analogous manner in the form of an identification cipher, like the document ID, to a piece of luggage to be carried for a trip. Whereby preferably so-called tags or labels can be used according to the invention instead of the piece of luggage as a direct means of identification. which are each assigned to a piece of luggage, on which the identification cipher is readable and by means of which a connection to the database and the luggage information data held in it can be made possible by comparing the identification cipher in the tag and an identical identification cipher stored and released in the database.

With secure access, all participants involved in travel processing can be provided with direct access to the information data they need for travel processing via the database, not just for one trip, but for all future trips by a registered user and his or her baggage. An issuance of individual boarding passes per trip and the usual issuing of baggage tags or baggage labels for each piece of baggage is no longer required. As already mentioned elsewhere, the identification ciphers referred to here can contain letters and numbers, for example. The permanent and uniquely assignable identification cipher can be randomly generated by the data processing device or by the database.

In order to ensure that the identification cipher is not accidentally assigned twice, it has at least 25 digits, whereby the type and scope of the identification cipher to be used can of course be adapted to the requirements of the air traffic control authorities IATA, ICAO, etc. This also ensures the uniqueness of the identification cipher, since the large number of variants of the identification cipher that can be generated in different ways means that the probability of two identical identification ciphers being generated by chance is practically zero.

According to the invention, all assigned identification ciphers are preferably stored centrally in the database and, in the case of a new registration, the database checks the identification ciphers to be newly assigned for duplications. Alternatively, the identification cipher last assigned by the data processing device can also be temporarily stored and counted up by a specific increment when an identification cipher is assigned again using the identification cipher assigned last. Counting up does not only refer to numbers, but can also mean an alphabetical "counting up" with letters.

It is also possible to have any large number of identification ciphers for the user identification, the travel document identification and the baggage identification or other identification features already available, this can amount to millions and billions, and to assign these stochastically with the registration of a user or to assign.

Furthermore, in this context, a certain number of identification ciphers can be given to airlines, for example, which can then pass them on to users or assign them stochastically, as it were, even before they register in the database according to the invention. When registering, the previously assigned identification ciphers would then be assigned to the user data record. The latter can be particularly advantageous for luggage identification.

At least one data field with a permanent and clearly assignable identification cipher for a global boarding pass of a user or for a registered piece of luggage is stored in the user account, which is also the data record for the processing information data of the registered user. Just as, according to the invention, each piece of luggage or tag is assigned exactly one unique identification cipher, a user can theoretically register several global boarding passes, for example one global boarding pass for private purposes and one for professional purposes.

With the help of such a permanent and clearly assignable identification cipher with a preferably uniform format, each global boarding pass and/or each piece of luggage can be reliably and uniquely assigned. As already stated, for example, several pieces of luggage can be registered in a user's data record, with only selected pieces of luggage being reserved for a specific leg of the journey. The pieces of luggage can be marked with the respective identification cipher for the corresponding section of the journey.

According to a further advantageous development, it is also possible according to the invention for the registration to be carried out in one process for a group of users, with a main registrar making the group registration and the co-registered secondary registrars being invited to do so, for example by e-mail sent by the main registrar to confirm the registration made.

Advantageously, when registering a group, the main registrar can, for example, carry out a number of piece of baggage identifications, ie identifications for a number of pieces of baggage, whose identification cipher or associated tags can then be verified by all group members can be turned. The generated baggage tags can then be sent to the user's registered address and attached to the user account. In a further advantageous embodiment of the method, data from at least one data field, which is assigned to the processing information data, can be read by third parties via the application interface, i. H. be read out as required or as required, in particular by settlement participants.
