Description
The invention relates to a fold cover, in particular a fold cover for a machine tool, with a flexible fold element and one or more rigid elements connected to it, as well as a method for producing such a fold cover.
Rigid elements are used on fold covers, for example to stabilize the fold cover, to fix the fold cover at its ends and to protect the fold cover. Fold covers and in particular fold covers for machine tools are used for variable-length areas of machine tools and are connected to a structure at the respective ends of the variable-length area. The fold covers can run in any spatial direction, with common orientations being horizontal or vertical. The rigid elements, which can serve to stabilize the fold cover with a corresponding alignment, are usually referred to as support frames and can be designed as individual profiles arranged in the fold valleys in the form of tabs or as profiles connected to one another by spring elements. The elements that connect the pleat cover to another structure are called the end frames. In the case of machine tools in particular, there is a risk that the fold material will be damaged by the action of chips that arise during operation of the machine tool and can experience strong acceleration in the process. Therefore, lamellae are attached to the inside of the fold cover, which largely overlap the length-variable fold cover in each extended position. The above-described rigid elements (support frame, end frame and slats) are either glued, quilted, welded and / or riveted to the fold element.
During the riveting, the fold element is structurally damaged, so that a weakening of the fold element occurs at these points, which can lead to breaks or tears during the continuous stress (change in length) of the fold element. In this respect, the service life is reduced without carrying out further reinforcing measures. The connection of rigid elements to fold material by gluing is a standard process, which is, however, very time-consuming. Here, the individual folds are currently exposed to a liquid adhesive that contains a solvent. A longer flash-off time must then be observed until the solvent has largely evaporated for further processing. In addition, the fold element is spread out during the evacuation so that the folds to which the liquid adhesive is applied do not stick to one another during this time. There is a considerable amount of space required for this. The work area must be specially ventilated during ventilation, i.e. suction of the solvent vapors must be ensured. The actual material connection between the fold material and the rigid element is achieved after the rigid element has been positioned, for example in a fold, by thermal activation and curing of the adhesive on a heating plate. The entire assembly must be precisely aligned and kept under pressure. In particular with larger dimensions and with rigid elements made of plastic, there is also the risk that the introduced rigid elements will be deformed due to the high temperature introduced and then have to be readjusted with additional effort.
From this, the object of the invention is to improve a connection of fold material and rigid elements in such a way that their production process is simplified and the working conditions are improved without the durability of the fold cover produced being impaired or its construction being complicated.
This object is achieved by the method for producing a fold cover with the features according to
For a method for producing a fold cover with a fold element and at least one rigid element, wherein a thermally activated adhesive is provided for connecting the rigid element to the fold element, the invention provides that the thermally activated adhesive is used as a shaped element between the fold element and the rigid Element is introduced; Introducing energy into the molded element until an activation temperature range of the thermally activated adhesive is reached; Establishing a material connection between the fold element and the rigid element.
In particular, it can be provided that the molded element is dimensionally stable at room temperature and it can also be provided that the thermally activated adhesive is also dimensionally stable at room temperature. Alternatively, it can be provided that the molded element has a carrier or a substrate for the thermally activatable adhesive. This carrier or this substrate can remain between the fold element and the rigid element after the molding element has been introduced, or it can remain on the thermally activated adhesive be replaced. Providing the method according to the invention has the advantage that the thermally activated adhesive can be positioned very precisely and can also be dosed very precisely. In this way, incorrect positioning and incorrect dosing are advantageously avoided. Furthermore, the provision of a method with the molded element contributes to the fact that the manufacturing process and in particular the use of adhesive in the manufacturing process can be quantified. By providing a thermally activatable adhesive, it is achieved in an advantageous manner that an adhesive effect only occurs when the adhesive is activated. As a result, the parts to be connected can be aligned with one another as long as activation is not carried out.
According to one embodiment of the method, it is provided that the activation temperature range is between 90.degree. C. and 120.degree. In this temperature range, it is achieved in an advantageous manner that pre-thermal damage to the elements of the fold cover is avoided. This helps to increase the service life of the pleat cover.
According to a further development of the method, it is provided that the energy is introduced by ultrasound or high-frequency vibrations. By introducing energy through mechanical vibrations around the high-frequency or ultrasonic range, molecular and / or interface friction is generated in the excited area, whereby the required heat is introduced into the thermally activated adhesive. This turns out to be particularly advantageous since the activation temperature can thus be achieved in a particularly energy-efficient manner and particularly in the relevant connection area.
In one embodiment, it can be provided for the method that the ultrasound or the high-frequency vibrations are initiated by a vibration-excited clamping jaw or by an ultrasound sonotrode. Clamping jaws are particularly suitable for introducing mechanical vibration to achieve an activation temperature of a thermally activated joining agent, since the energy can be introduced on both sides. The use of a sonotrode also has the advantage that the energy can be introduced in a spatially targeted manner, as a result of which the overlap area of thermally activatable adhesive, the fold element and the rigid element can be covered particularly well.
In a further development, it can be provided for the method that the energy is introduced by direct introduction of heat by means of a heating plate or by energetic radiation. Accordingly, one embodiment of the method provides that the energetic radiation is provided by a suitable radiation source. By introducing the activation energy through energetic radiation such as infrared radiation or other wavelengths, the advantage is achieved that existing devices such as heating plates can be used for the process. Accordingly, according to one embodiment, it is provided for the method that the shaped element and the fold material and / or the respective rigid element are heated through by the energy.
According to a further development, it is provided for the method that the respective rigid element is pre-positioned on the fold element and pre-fixed by applying adhesive dots. In this way, an exact alignment of the fold element with respect to the rigid element is achieved in an advantageous manner. In a further development, it can also be provided that the molded element is also pre-fixed by means of adhesive dots before the activation of the thermally activatable adhesive. This will ensure the correct alignment of all elements to be joined together.
Finally, it can be provided for the method that, in addition to the energy, pressure is exerted on the shaped element and the fold material and / or the respective rigid element. In this way, it can further be ensured that the joint between the fold material and the rigid element takes place over the entire area through the form element. By providing certain pressures it can be achieved that the required thermal activation energy can be reduced in the case of certain adhesives.
The invention also relates to a fold cover with a flexible fold element which is variable in length in a pull-out direction and to which one or more rigid elements are attached, the invention providing that a connection through a molded element with a thermally activated adhesive is provided between the fold element and the respective rigid element is made. By providing a thermally activatable adhesive, it is achieved in an advantageous manner that an adhesive effect only occurs when the adhesive is activated. As a result, the parts to be connected can be aligned with one another as long as activation is not carried out. Furthermore, the provision of a shaped element results in the advantage that the adhesive or the joining agent can be positioned very precisely between the rigid element and the fold element and can also be dosed very precisely. In this way, incorrect positioning and incorrect dosing are advantageously avoided.
According to a further embodiment of the fold cover, it is provided that the thermally activatable adhesive is arranged on a substrate of the molding element. A substrate can advantageously impart structural integrity to the molded element, for example for its application. As soon as the shaped element is attached to the respective joint between the rigid element and the fold element, the substrate can be removed or it remains between the rigid element and the fold element even after the activation of the thermally activatable adhesive.
According to a further development of the fold cover, it is provided that the adhesive of the molding element is dry in an inactivated state and does not have any significant adhesive properties. This has the advantage that the shaped element remains alignable with respect to the rigid element and / or the fold element.
For the fold cover it can furthermore be provided that the shaped element is arranged in the region of fold tips of the fold cover. In particular in an inner fold there is the advantage that the mechanical stability of the fold element is highest there and a joint between the fold element variable in length and the rigid element has an ideal point of application there.
According to one embodiment of the fold cover, it is provided that at least one first rigid element is a support frame for supporting folds of the fold element. In this way, the mechanical integrity of the fold cover is improved, especially in horizontal installation situations. According to one embodiment and for better protection of the fold cover from chips, for example when the fold cover is used in a machine tool, it can be provided that the respective rigid element or at least one further rigid element is a lamella. As an alternative or in addition to this, it can be provided that the respective rigid element or at least one further rigid element is an end support frame. As a result, the variable-length cover can be connected to such movable elements, between which the fold cover is intended to be variable in length. In one embodiment, it can be provided that the fold element has the lamellae on the side facing away from the support frame. For the lamellae it can optionally be provided that the lamellae are connected to the fold material by means of the solid adhesive. For the end support frame it can be provided that the respective end support frame is connected to a first or a last fold leg of the fold element by the solid adhesive.
According to a further development of the fold cover, it is provided that the shaped element extends around an apex region of the support frame and the shaped element is arranged in a respective fold tip of the fold element on a respective fold leg. The fact that a joint between the fold element and the support frame that runs on both sides and even around an apex area is produced means that a particularly resistant joint can be produced between the rigid element and the fold element.
According to a further embodiment of the invention it can be provided that the shaped element is a strip-shaped endless material. In this way, the shaped element can be tailored particularly easily for use in joining the rigid element with the pleat element.
According to a further development of the invention, it is provided that the fold element is pre-fixed on the respective rigid element by means of adhesive dots.
According to a further embodiment of the invention it is provided that the fold material is multilayered. By providing several layers, different materials can be combined for the fold material. Individual layers can take on certain functions. For example, one of the multiple layers can provide resistance to chemicals, while another layer improves the tensile strength of the pleat material, for example.
According to one embodiment of the invention it is provided that the support frame has a support frame material made of PVC. By providing PVC, on the one hand, the joint between the rigid element and the fold material is improved by means of the molding element with the thermally activated adhesive, since a material pairing between plastics is easier to produce than between a plastic and a metal. On the other hand, by providing PVC as the material for the rigid member, the fold cover is improved in that the fold cover becomes lighter compared to metal rigid members.
