Description
The present invention relates to a method for dissipating residual energy of a power-generating machine of a power plant in the event of a sudden load drop, the machine having at least one turbine with a turbine control device and a generator coupled to the turbine, which is connected to an external supply network and / or an internal one Supply network can be connected to cover the power plant's own needs in order to feed electrical energy into the external supply network and / or into the internal supply network, comprising the steps: monitoring the current load on the generator and regulating the energy supply to the turbine using the turbine control device in response the detection of a sudden drop in load.
Power-generating machines tend to increase the turbine speed after a sudden drop in the load on the generator, which may result in the machine having to be shut down in an emergency. In addition, a large number of machine components are exposed to very high loads due to the high speed, which results in a long-term reduction in the service life of the machine components.
A sudden drop in load can be caused by different events.
An event in which the electrical coupling between the power-generating machine and the supply networks to be supplied is canceled by opening a synchronization switch immediately downstream of the power-generating machine is referred to as network disconnection. Such a grid separation can take place at any load point and means that the generator no longer outputs any power.
A disconnection from the mains can be recognized by a changed switch position and by the fact that the generator no longer outputs power.
Partial load shedding is understood to mean that the power-generating machine is relieved to a low level by a sudden drop in the load in the external supply network to be supplied. Such a partial load shedding usually does not take place through switching operations within the power plant. A partial load shedding can be seen from unchanged switch positions as well as from a steep load transient and power output between the power plant's own requirements and the power output of the generator immediately preceding the load drop.
So-called grid island operation results from the sole supply of a section of the external power grid by the power-generating machine. It is similar to partial load shedding. Off-grid operation is usually brought about suddenly by faults in the external power grid to be supplied. It can be recognized by the unchanged switch positions, a steep load transient and a power output that is greater than the power plant's own requirements.
Power plant island operation means a separation of the power plant from the external power supply to be supplied while maintaining the self-supply by the power generating machine. The power plant island operation can be recognized by changed switch positions, by a steep load transient and a low power output in the order of own requirements, which is normally in the range of 100 KW to 100 MW.
If there is a sudden drop in performance due to one of the aforementioned events, it is necessary to intercept the power generating machine. Interception is the controlled prevention of a high increase in speed after a sudden drop in performance with the aim of keeping the machine in stationary operation in a safe area.
In the case of steam turbines, in the event of sudden load drops, the residual energy present in the power-generating machine at the time of the load drop and the reaction times for regulating the valves regulating the steam supply play an important role. It is therefore important to quickly detect a load drop and immediately reduce the steam supply by the turbine control device completely closing the corresponding valves. Steam turbines are usually operated in a vacuum when the valves are closed and therefore have almost no rotor-braking element apart from oil and bearing friction. The residual energy, i.e. the steam downstream of the control valves, depends on the respective load point immediately before the load drops. Therefore, after a load drop from a higher load, there is a greater acceleration of the turbine speed than with a load shedding from a lower load. It also follows that the residual energy is roughly proportional to the load difference between the load immediately before the load drop and the load immediately after the load drop. However, since no control influence can be exerted on the residual energy of the steam already flowing through the control valves, additional measures must be taken to intercept the power-generating machine in order to avoid an excessive increase in the speed, since this results in the maximum speed being exceeded can have, which leads to the Steam turbine would have to be automatically shut down by the turbine protection as part of a so-called turbine quick-release triggering. As such an additional measure, the vacuum inside the turbine can be released in order to generate a braking moment with air. As an alternative or in addition, interception flaps and bypass valves can be provided behind the reheater in order to prevent the residual energy from the reheater from flowing into the steam turbine.
In the case of gas turbines, it should also be noted that thermodynamic and / or combustion technology limits are not exceeded. After a grid separation, the fuel supply is quickly reduced by the gas turbine control device closing the fuel control valves up to the flame protection value, which leads to a rapid and strong change in the combustion process due to a very lean combustion. The gas turbine control device then tries to regulate to the nominal speed of the turbine, which in turn leads to the fuel control valves opening quickly. A leveling out is the result. However, the flame often goes out and an automatic gas turbine quick-connect is the result. But it can also happen that the maximum speed is exceeded, which also leads to a gas turbine quick-trip. The aim is to operate in what is known as idling at nominal speed.
In summary, it can be stated that the residual energy that is already in the power-generating machine at the time of a sudden load drop can no longer be released via the generator or mechanically destroyed. This leads to an acceleration of the rotating masses, which in turn depends on the load point immediately before the load drops. As a countermeasure, both in the case of steam and also gas turbines, the energy supply to the power-generating machine is primarily interrupted or at least greatly reduced. In the case of steam turbines in particular, further measures are taken in the absence of an effective rotor-braking element.
On the basis of this prior art, it is an object of the present invention to control said excess energy in a controlled and rapid manner from the dynamic process in order to prevent the rotating masses of the power-generating machine from accelerating too rapidly.
To achieve this object, the present invention provides a method of the type mentioned at the outset, which is characterized in that, in addition to the previously described regulation of the energy supply to the turbine, the generator is connected to an accumulator device as a further reaction to the detection of a sudden load drop such that the generator feeds electrical energy into the accumulator device with a predetermined charging power. The excess energy present in the power-generating machine after a drop in load to any partial load is thus discharged according to the invention as electrical energy, virtually without wear and loss, via the generator, which forms an additional load, and is stored in the accumulator device. In this way, an increase in the turbine speed can be reduced and the turbine speed can be brought back to idling or nominal speed comparatively quickly. The power-generating machine can thus be intercepted much more effectively, so that quick turbine trips as well as the load on the components of the power-generating machine can be reduced. Another advantage of the method according to the invention is that only minor structural measures that are manageable in terms of costs are required to upgrade and / or convert existing power-generating machines in such a way that the method can be carried out with them. The accumulator device and the power-generating machine or the power plant can also be set up separately from one another and operated as a virtual power plant. In the case of the turbine control device, too, no major interventions are required. If for some reason the accumulator device is not available at the time of a load drop, the usual procedure can be followed, as was described in detail in the introductory part. Yet another advantage is that the accumulator device, the external supply network and the internal supply network can also be interconnected such that the accumulator device can feed electrical energy into the external supply network and / or into the internal supply network if required.
According to one embodiment of the method according to the invention, the sudden load drop is immediately before on the basis of positions of switches that are provided between the generator, the external supply network and the internal supply network, and / or on the basis of steep load transients and / or on the basis of a difference between those on the generator and detected after the sudden drop in load. In this way, the event on which the load drop is based can also be determined and determined, as described at the beginning.
The predetermined charging power of the accumulator device is advantageously gradually reduced to zero after a predetermined period of time in order to stabilize the system.
The predetermined time period is preferably in the range from 0.2 to 20 seconds.
Furthermore, the present invention provides a power plant designed to carry out the method according to the invention for feeding an external supply network with electrical energy, in particular comprising a power-generating machine which has at least one turbine with a turbine control device and a generator coupled to the turbine, and an internal supply network for coverage of the power plant's own needs, the generator being connected to the external supply network and to the internal supply network via switch power lines in such a way that it can be connected to the external supply network and / or the internal supply network by switching the switches accordingly, in order to to feed this electrical energy, characterized in that an accumulator device is provided, which can optionally be connected at least to the generator via a power line provided with a switch, and that the turbo NEN control device is set up in such a way that in response to detection of a sudden load drop, the generator is connected to the accumulator device in such a way that the generator feeds electrical energy into the accumulator device with a predetermined charging power.

The accumulator device can preferably be connected to the external supply network and / or to the internal supply network via a power line provided with a switch, so that the electrical energy stored therein can be supplied to the external supply network and / or the internal supply network. Likewise, the accumulator device can of course also be charged via the external and / or the internal supply network.
