Stand der TechnikState of the art
The LIDAR devices can be divided into scanning devices that only illuminate a small part of the surroundings in terms of time, and flash devices that completely illuminate the surroundings at a time.
Scanning LIDAR devices usually use a laser beam to sequentially illuminate a scanning area or a so-called field of view (FoV). Rotating mirrors or oscillating µ mirrors are used to illuminate the scanning area. Such micromirrors are mainly controlled today in resonant operation in order to achieve high speed with high mechanical / electrical efficiency.
In resonant mode, the µ level moves very slowly at the reversal points and the fastest at the home position. Accordingly, the temporal firing period of the laser is not constant at a constant angular step size and must be adjusted based on the angular position of the µ mirror. In order for a micro scanner equipped with a µ mirror to achieve ranges of approx. 200 m with a resolution of <0.15 °, laser powers in the range of 50 - 500 watts are required. In addition, a very good beam quality (M 2 ) is required to collimate the laser beam to a small diameter. The beam quality of the laser must reach M 2 <5 so that the laser beam can be guided at 0.15 ° over a µ mirror with a diameter of 2.5 mm. Such performance cannot currently be achieved with a semiconductor laser.
Offenbarung der ErfindungDisclosure of the invention
The object on which the invention is based can be seen, in particular, in proposing a LIDAR device which has a long range with constant angular resolution and a scanning frequency which is uniform over the entire scanning range.
This object is achieved by means of the respective subject of the independent claims. Advantageous embodiments of the invention are the subject of dependent subclaims.
According to one aspect of the invention there is provided a LIDAR device for scanning a scan area with beams. The device has a transmission unit with at least one solid-state laser designed as a radiation source, with a laser driver for operating the radiation sources and with a movable mirror for deflecting the rays generated by the solid-state laser and for emitting the rays along the scanning area. Furthermore, the device has a receiving unit with a filter and with at least one detector, a Q-switch and a monitor diode being arranged in the beam path between the solid-state laser and the movable mirror, the monitor diode being designed to adapt a pulse frequency of the beams generated the pulse frequency at a position of the movable mirror.
According to a further aspect of the invention, a LIDAR system with a LIDAR device and with an evaluation unit for regulating a pulse frequency of generated beams based on a position of a movable mirror of the LIDAR device and based on a pulse frequency of the generated by a sensor Rays provided.
According to a further aspect of the invention, an evaluation unit for regulating and controlling a pulse frequency of generated beams and for operating a LIDAR device is provided.
In order to deflect the beams generated with a beam divergence of approx. 0.15 ° by means of a micro mirror (edge length of approx. 2.5 mm), a beam quality of M 2 <5 is required, for example. Lasers with high pulse power (> 50 W) and good beam quality (M 2 <5) are necessary for the implementation of micro-scanners so that a long range (> 150 m) with high resolution (0.15 °) is made possible. Laser powers in the range of 50-500 W are required for a micro scanner to achieve ranges of approx. 200 m with a resolution of <0.15 °. Since a single semiconductor laser cannot usually provide the beam quality of M 2 <5 and the high pulse power, the use of a passively pumped solid-state laser, for example, is advantageous in terms of performance.
A solid-state laser is particularly advantageous because it includes a LIDAR device Semiconductor lasers that generate laser pulses in the 1-10ns range and pulse powers> 50 W require high drive currents of over 30A. In order to generate such a short current pulse, a complex construction technique for contacting the laser is required, so that current pulses in the range of <10 ns can only be generated by small inductive losses in the feed line.
Furthermore, the wave lengths of the beams generated by semiconductor lasers depend on the temperature (0.3 nm / K). This can be disadvantageous in the case of LIDAR devices because of the use of sunlight filters, since the rays generated can lie outside a transmission wavelength range of the filter. The wavelength of a solid-state laser is almost constant over a relevant temperature range in operation. By using a solid-state laser, a higher beam quality in the range from M 2 = 1.1 to 10.0, for example, can also be achieved, which also increases the resolving power of the LIDAR device.
The Q-switch can be designed, for example, in the form of a passive Q switch. Such a Q-switch can be a saturable absorber which contains, for example, a Cr 4 +: YAG crystal. Due to the compact design of the solid-state laser in combination with the Q-switch, a pulsed radiation source with a high laser power, a short laser pulse, a stable wavelength and a high repetition frequency can be implemented in a scanning LIDAR device.
Temperature-controlled wavelength stabilization at the radiation source is therefore not required since the solid-state laser used has negligible changes in wavelength (approx. 0.002 nm / K) over the temperature. The optical filter used in the receiving unit in the receiving path can thus be made particularly narrow-band. A narrow-band filter can suppress interference light particularly efficiently, which increases the range of the LIDAR device.
The repetition frequency or the pulse frequency of the radiation source designed as a solid-state laser can be set by means of optical cw (continuous wave) current on the pump laser or the driver. The pump power and pulse energy result from the parameters of the Q-switch or the saturable absorber and the pump volume in the crystal of the solid-state laser. The control loop for the solid-state laser can be set to the target pulse frequency by measuring the actual pulse frequency over time. A monitor diode is arranged in the transmission path for measuring the actual pulse frequency on the solid-state laser.
By using the monitor diode, the pulse frequency of the beams generated can be adjusted, for example, in a frequency range between 1 kHz and 1000 kHz. The frequency of the beams generated can be changeable in the range of a few microseconds. This can be achieved by evaluating the monitor diode by the evaluation unit and controlling the driver of the radiation source by the evaluation unit. Alternatively, the monitor diode can also be another sensor which is suitable for determining a pulse frequency of the beams generated.
The beams generated are preferably laser beams pulsed with a pulse frequency, which are generated by the solid-state laser in a UV or an IR frequency range.
The pulse frequency of the solid-state laser can thus be adapted to a varying oscillation frequency of the mirror or μ-mirror. Furthermore, the pulse frequency of the solid-state laser can be adapted depending on the situation, as a result of which the evaluation effort of the evaluation unit can be controlled depending on the situation.
According to one embodiment, the Q-switch is designed as a passive Q-switch or as an actively controllable Q-switch. The Q-switch can be designed as a saturable absorber, which switches through the beams generated by the solid-state laser without activation.
Alternatively or additionally, an active Q-switch can be used. The latter can, for example, precisely set a transmission time for the beams generated by the solid-state laser even without a control loop. The active Q-switch can be implemented, for example, by a Q-Switch in the embodiment of an opto-acoustic Q-switch, a so-called acousto-optical modulator. Depending on the acoustic frequency applied, such a modulator can have the laser beam generated transmitted from the resonator or block it.
Another embodiment of the active Q-switch can be a Pockels cell. The laser crystals that can be used for the solid body generate linearly polarized laser light in a preferred direction. A Pockels cell is a birefringent crystal that blocks or transmits linearly polarized light depending on the applied electrical voltage. If an active Q-switch is used, a length of the resonator used for the solid-state laser can be increased. The pulse length also becomes longer than the pulse length from a solid-state laser with a passive Q-switch.
According to a further embodiment, the LIDAR device has an evaluation unit which is connected to the laser driver, the monitor diode and the movable mirror. The evaluation unit can be designed as a control loop, which carries out the control of the laser in an automated or externally controlled manner based on the position of the movable mirror and the measured values of the monitor diode. In this way, an automatic compensation of a variable swiveling speed or rotational speed of the movable mirror can be implemented on the basis of an adapted pulse frequency.
According to a further embodiment, an optimal pulse frequency of the generated beams is predetermined depending on a position of the movable mirror, and the evaluation unit is set up to compare the pulse frequency of the generated beams determined by the monitor diode with the optimal pulse frequency. This can be achieved, for example, using a comparison table. The optimal pulse frequencies or the desired pulse frequencies can be stored in advance as a table and depend on the position of the movable mirror. The solid-state laser can thus be adjusted by the evaluation unit based on the actual pulse frequency.
According to a further embodiment, the evaluation unit is set up to control the laser driver and / or the Q-switch in such a way that the pulse frequency of the beams generated is adapted to the optimal pulse frequency. The evaluation unit can thus be adapted by the evaluation unit, which ensures optimal operation of the LIDAR device.
According to a further embodiment, the solid-state laser is an Nd: YAG which is constructed monolithically with a saturable absorber, for example Cr4 +: YAG and for example emits radiation in a wavelength range from 900 nm to 950 nm. By using different crystal types, such as Nd: YVO 4 , Nd: GDVO 4 , Nd: KGW and the like, the possible wavelength of the solid-state laser, for example with laser wavelengths of 912nm, 914nm and 911nm, can be used in the LIDAR device to be provided. The advantage of these wavelengths is that there is little attenuation due to water absorption during transmission and reception. In addition, this wavelength has sufficient sensitivity when using Si detectors. As a result, the solid-state laser can be adapted in a particularly versatile manner to different operating conditions.
According to a further embodiment, the laser driver is a pump laser, the pulse frequency of the beams generated being adjustable by a cw current on the pump laser. A control loop is implemented by means of the monitor diode used, the time intervals of the laser shots or the pulse frequencies are individually adapted to the mirror position. In this way, a LIDAR device can be produced which generates a variably adjustable pulse sequence with a cw current of the laser driver.
According to a further exemplary embodiment, the monitor diode is designed to determine the pulse frequency of the beams generated by scattered light or based on branched beams. As a result, the monitor diode or a sensor for determining the pulse frequency of the beams generated can be positioned directly or indirectly in the beam path of the beams generated. By measuring the scattered light, a particularly low-influence measurement of the pulse frequency can be carried out. The beams can be branched off, for example, by means of a so-called beam sampler or a partially transparent mirror. In this way, a particularly precise measurement of the pulse frequency can be implemented by the monitor diode, since the branched beams are directed directly to the monitor diode.
