Abstract

Description

  • The invention relates to a method for identifying an item and providing information on the identified item on a mobile handset.
  • In workshops, especially in motor vehicle workshops, it is often necessary to repair defective equipment, devices, devices or the like, in motor vehicle workshops of the vehicles, to replace defective components with new components. In the case of problems with the electrical system, in particular vehicle electrics, it is often necessary to replace defective plug connections with new ones, since a concrete error determination and, if appropriate, troubleshooting of the defective component would be economically unprofitable on account of its complexity.   • The difficulty with the replacement of defective components, in particular defective plugs and sockets is that due to the large number of different vehicles and vehicle variants a variety of different plugs and sockets are used. This diversity causes a high challenge in the identification of the object recognized as defective, after the articles, in particular plugs and sockets, often differ only slightly, namely in only a few features from one another. For the expert, the selection of the suitable replacement part thus represents a great challenge, which is burdened with a high susceptibility to errors. A faulty selection of the component to be replaced then leads to longer downtime and higher costs.
  • On this basis, the object of the invention is to provide a method and a system for identifying an object and providing information on the identified object on a mobile handheld device.
  • The invention solves the problem by a method having the features of claim 1 and a system having the features of claim 10. Advantageous developments of the method and of the system are specified in the respective dependent claims.

  • The inventive method is characterized by the fact that this allows using a mobile handset a simple and reliable identification of objects. In particular, when using the method in the field of repair shops, in particular motor vehicle repair shops, this method can be used to facilitate the workshop employees in a simple, comfortable and reliable way to identify the component to be replaced. After the creation of the electronic image with the camera unit of the mobile handset by the workshop staff this is transmitted via the transceiver unit to the server unit.   • In the case of, for example, the intended use of the method for the identification of plugs in the automotive sector, the shape type thereby represents the outer shape of the plug.
