Description
The invention relates to a mixture of substances with phosphorescent properties, comprising at least one phosphorescent pigment which is distributed in a translucent plastic. Phosphorescent properties or phophorescence (https://de.wikipedia.org/w/index.php? Title = Phosphorescence & oldid = 177845077) is the property of a substance or substance after it has been illuminated with light, for example visible light, in the dark afterglow. Translucent means that a substance is transparent to visible light, which means that the phosphorescent pigment in the translucent plastic can be energized on the one hand by visible and / or UV light. On the other hand, a phosphorescent glow of the pigment is also visible from the outside, even if the pigment is distributed in the plastic.
The invention has for its object to improve a mixture of substances and a method for producing a mixture of substances of the type mentioned. In particular, inexpensive production is to be provided in a simple manner, so that even a layperson can prepare the mixture of substances at any location.
This object is achieved with a substance mixture of the type mentioned by the features mentioned in the characterizing part of patent claim 1 and a method according to claim 7.
According to the invention it is therefore provided that the plastic is a superabsorbent polymer. A superabsorbent polymer or a so-called superabsorbent is a substance with the property of binding water. In contrast to most hygroscopic salts, a superabsorbent can absorb more mass of water than the superabsorbent itself - without absorbed water - weighs. The superabsorber itself is usually present as a solid, for example as a powder. The combination of superabsorbent and water creates a kind of gel.
Such a mixture of substances according to the invention can be produced and / or used ready for use by a layperson, any chemically uneducated end user, without having to take any special safety precautions.
An essential advantage according to the invention is that a layperson can fill the substance mixture according to the invention into a self-selectable vessel and mix the substance mixture with water, so that a gel is formed with phosphorescent pigments distributed therein. As a result, the layperson has an uplifting experience of having made a phosphorescent object that is self-illuminating in the dark. Alternatively, an advanced user can also mix the substance mixture according to the invention himself, that is to say also determine the quantitative ratio of superabsorbent polymer and pigment himself.
When the substance mixture according to the invention is mixed with water, the resulting preparation is regularly mixed by intensive shaking, stirring or the like, which leads to a homogeneous distribution of the pigments in the gel composed of superabsorbent and water. This gel has such a high viscosity that the pigments do not sink, even though they have a higher specific density than the superabsorbent or the gel composed of superabsorbent and water.
Thus, phosphorescent, self-illuminating objects are accessible, the mass of which essentially result from the vessel used and the water added. This makes the mixture of substances according to the invention particularly interesting for mobile applications, for example when camping. Only the mixture of substances, which is ideally in powder form, has to be transported to the campsite. A suitable vessel can be provided, for example, by an empty bottle of drink, and water is also easily accessible, for example from natural flowing or standing water, such as a stream or a lake, or from a sanitary facility at a campground.
Other advantageous developments result from the dependent claims.
The mixture of substances can have at least one further additive. The additive can be another ingredient such as paint, a fluorescent substance, glittering ingredients e.g. small glittering pearls, glitter, another functional pigment and / or others. The visual appearance of the self-luminous preparation can thus be changed or adjusted. Depending on whether and which other constituents are included, the appearance of the self-luminous preparation can be changed in daylight, for example it can have a different color or show fluorescence. On the other hand, the appearance in the dark can also be changed in such a way that in addition to the self-illumination or the phosphorescence of the mixture of substances or the self-illuminating object, there are further optical effects, for example due to glitter, glittering pearls or the like.
The mass ratio of the superabsorbent polymer to the pigment is preferably at least 3 to 1, preferably at least 5 to 1, particularly preferably at least 10 to 1, very particularly preferably at least 20 to 1. It is also advantageous if the pigment is less than 20%, preferably less than 10%, particularly preferably less than 5%, very particularly preferably less than 3% of the mass of the mixture of substances.
This has the advantage that only small amounts of the phosphorescent pigment are required in the substance mixture according to the invention or in the self-illuminating object. This variant is therefore particularly inexpensive.
According to a particularly advantageous embodiment, the superabsorbent polymer is a polyacrylate, an amylopectin, a polyvinylpyrrole, a cellulose, a gelatin and / or a copolymer of these. In particular, copolymers which have acrylate as repeating units have been found to be particularly suitable.
The pigment is preferably a europium and / or dysprosium doped strontium aluminate. The strontium aluminate can therefore be doped with europium or dysprosium, or with both elements. Depending on the doping, it is known that different colors or shades of the phosphorescence of the pigment can be produced.
The invention is also implemented by a method for producing a mixture of substances with phosphorescent properties, in which at least one phosphorescent pigment is distributed in a translucent plastic, at least one superabsorbent polymer being used as the plastic. According to the invention, the mixture of substances is mixed with water in a vessel and the water gels with the superabsorbent polymer, as a result of which the pigment is spatially distributed in a gel composed of superabsorbent polymer and water.
Pigments based on strontium aluminate have a specific density of about 3.6 g / cm 3 . Therefore, the gel formation by the superabsorbent with water is particularly important, since if the gel viscosity is too low, the pigments will sink, ie, sediment, which would lead to an optically inconsistent appearance of the resulting self-illuminating object.
The invention is based on the use of a mixture of substances with phosphorescent properties, comprising at least one phosphorescent pigment, which is distributed in a translucent plastic, for the production of a self-illuminating object. The self-illuminating object results from a vessel which can be selected by an end user, in which the mixture of substances according to the invention is mixed with water, resulting in a gel with phosphorescent pigments homogeneously distributed therein.
Since the preparation according to the invention and its advantages and the method for providing the preparation according to the invention can be comprehensively understood even without a drawing, a drawing to explain the invention can be dispensed with.
