Hier macht die Ausnutzung der Wasserkraft aber nur mit hocheffektiven Wasserturbinenanlagen mit großen Höhenunterschieden von => 30m wirtschaftlich Sinn was zu hohen Investitionskosten führt. Will man die potentielle und kinetische Energie zur Stromerzeugung von Flüssen nutzen so sind europaweit und insbesondere auch in Deutschland nur wenige Flüsse dazu geeignet, so dass sich diese in der Mehrzahl lediglich für Stauhöhen von ca. 2 m bis 4 m eignen. Hierfür sind Oberschlächtige, Unterschlächtige und Mittelschlächtige Wasserräder geeignet, wobei insbesondere Mittelschlächtige Wasserräder bei entsprechender Auslegung einen Wirkungsgrad von bis zu 85% erzielen der schon sehr nahe an den Wirkungsgrad herkömmlicher Turbinen reicht.Such arrangements are known and used in the prior art.
