The invention relates to an exhaust aftertreatment assembly for an internal combustion engine having a catalyst and a downstream of the catalyst arranged particulate filter with a selective catalytic reduction of nitrogen oxides (SCR coating), wherein downstream of the catalyst and upstream of the particulate filter, a reducing agent is metered into the exhaust aftertreatment assembly. In this case, the exhaust gas is deflected and passed through an exhaust gas mixer, which has a plurality of blades and is designed in particular as a fan ring, so that the reducing agent mixed with the exhaust gas before entering the particulate filter as best as possible. The invention further relates to a method for producing such an exhaust aftertreatment assembly in which the catalyst, in particular a NOx storage catalyst or a diesel oxidation catalyst, the exhaust gas mixer and the particle filter with the SCR coating are arranged in a common housing.
Description
The invention relates to an exhaust aftertreatment assembly for exhaust aftertreatment of the exhaust gases of an internal combustion engine. The current and increasingly stringent future exhaust gas legislation places high demands on the engine raw emissions and the exhaust aftertreatment of internal combustion engines. The demands for a further reduction in consumption and the further tightening of emission standards with regard to permissible nitrogen oxide emissions pose a challenge to engine developers. In gasoline engines, exhaust gas purification takes place in a known manner via a three-way catalytic converter, as well as the three-way catalytic converter. Catalyst upstream and downstream further catalysts. For diesel engines exhaust gas aftertreatment systems are currently used, which have an oxidation catalyst, a catalyst for the selective catalytic reduction of nitrogen oxides (SCR catalyst) and a particle filter for the separation of soot particles and optionally other catalysts. The reducing agent used is preferably ammonia. Because the handling of pure ammonia is complicated, in vehicles usually a synthetic, aqueous urea solution is used, which is mixed in a SCR catalyst upstream mixing device with the hot exhaust gas stream. By this mixing, the aqueous urea solution is heated, wherein the aqueous urea solution releases ammonia in the exhaust gas passage. A commercial aqueous urea solution generally consists of 32.5% urea and 67.5% water.
In order to bring the catalysts to an operating temperature after a cold start of the internal combustion engine, it is desirable to arrange the catalytic converters as closely as possible to the engine. However, this is not always possible because the space is limited. Therefore, SCR catalytic converters and soot particle filters are often arranged in a motorized underbody layer of a motor vehicle. Near-engine SCR systems are known in which an SCR catalyst and a soot particle filter are connected via a funnel. Through the funnel geometry is trying to reduce the back pressure in the exhaust passage, which, however, comparatively much space is required or the catalysts and / or the particulate filter must be carried out correspondingly small volume, which requires frequent regeneration and limits the efficiency of the exhaust gas purification due to the small volumes.

The invention is based on the object to propose an exhaust aftertreatment system, with which an effective conversion of harmful exhaust gas components is possible, which can be arranged close to the engine in the exhaust duct and in which a best possible uniform distribution of the metered reducing agent is achieved on a short mixing distance. A position close to the engine is understood to mean a mean exhaust flow path of at most 50 cm, in particular of at most 30 cm, after the outlet of the internal combustion engine.
The object is achieved by an exhaust aftertreatment assembly for an internal combustion engine for placement in an exhaust passage of the internal combustion engine comprising a catalyst and an exhaust gas aftertreatment downstream of the catalyst arranged particulate filter with a selective catalytic reduction reduction of nitrogen oxides, wherein in the exhaust aftertreatment assembly downstream of the catalyst and upstream of the particulate filter, an exhaust mixer and a metering element for metering a reducing agent are disposed in the exhaust aftertreatment assembly, wherein the exhaust gas mixer comprises a plurality of blades which are fan-shaped in the flow section between the catalyst and the particulate filter. Thereby, an exhaust aftertreatment assembly can be made small and compact, so that a close-coupled arrangement is given with the effect of rapid heating of the components. In addition, the arrangement and design of the exhaust gas mixer with fan-shaped wings and a previous deflection on a short mixing distance best mixing of reducing agent and exhaust gas is reached, so that the reducing agent on entering the particle filter with the coating for selective, catalytic reduction already a high uniformity over has reached the cross section of the exhaust passage and thus a high efficiency in the reduction of nitrogen oxides on the SCR-effective surface of the particulate filter can be achieved. The catalyst is preferably a diesel oxidation catalytic converter or a NOx storage catalytic converter for the exhaust aftertreatment of a diesel engine. Alternatively, it is provided that the catalyst is a three-way catalyst, when the internal combustion engine is designed as a gasoline engine.
By virtue of the features listed in the dependent claims, advantageous developments and improvements of the exhaust aftertreatment assembly specified in the independent claim are possible.
In a preferred embodiment of the invention, it is provided that the wings are combined in a fan ring and connected via at least one common carrier element. By combining the wings into a fan ring via a corresponding carrier element, the assembly of the exhaust aftertreatment assembly can be significantly simplified. Thus, it is possible to pre-assemble the fan ring as an assembly and insert it into the housing of the exhaust aftertreatment device. As a result, both the positioning and the attachment of the wings can be simplified.
In a further preferred embodiment of the invention it is provided that the wings are connected by means of welds to the support element and / or to the housing of the catalyst cohesively. As a result, a thermally stable connection of the wings to the carrier element and / or the housing can be achieved in a simple manner. In this case, it is particularly preferred if the wings or the support element carrying the wings are connected by means of welds to the housing section which carries the catalyst.
In an advantageous embodiment of the exhaust aftertreatment assembly is provided that an exit surface of the catalyst opens directly into the exhaust gas mixer. As a result, not only a very compact design of the exhaust aftertreatment assembly is possible, but also a defined flow of the exhaust gas mixer and thus a targeted flow guidance in the exhaust gas channel segment between the catalyst and the particulate filter in order to achieve the best possible mixing, evaporation and uniform distribution of the metered reducing agent.
According to a further advantageous embodiment of the invention, it is provided that the exhaust gas mixer and the catalyst are arranged in a common housing, preferably in a common housing section. To facilitate the assembly of the exhaust aftertreatment assembly, it is useful to arrange several components of the exhaust aftertreatment assembly in a common housing. It is particularly advantageous if the catalyst and the exhaust gas mixer are arranged in a common housing, since so the space can be optimally used and also the position of the exhaust gas mixer relative to the catalyst can be reproducible and accurate, to optimum flow of the exhaust gas mixer and thus to enable the best possible preparation of the metered reducing agent, in particular aqueous urea solution.
In a further preferred embodiment of the exhaust aftertreatment assembly is provided that the wings form a fan ring, which is half-open. By a half-open fan ring space for the metering element for metering of the reducing agent is created. The wings cover at least partially the individual channels. The resulting flow deflection increases the residence time of the exhaust gas mass flow at moderate pressure loss. The vanes of the fan-shaped mixer also serve as evaporator surfaces and avoid the direct application of urea solution to the particle filter substrate. Furthermore, a half-open fan ring is comparatively easy to mount in a holder. In addition, the increase of the flow resistance is limited compared to other mixer forms by a half-open fan ring, so that it does not lead to a significant increase in the exhaust back pressure and an associated additional consumption.
According to a further preferred embodiment it is provided that the wings completely cover the cross section of the exhaust gas duct in the section between the catalytic converter and the particle filter. In this context, complete coverage is to be understood as meaning that a projection of the wings on a projection surface perpendicular to the exhaust-gas channel section, in which the wings are arranged, results in the projection surface being completely covered. Thereby, the mixing of the reducing agent and the exhaust gas flowing through the exhaust aftertreatment assembly can be further improved.
Furthermore, it is advantageously provided that at least a subset of the wings has a waveform. By a wave form, the flow can be guided on the wings without it peeling off in this area. Thereby, the increase in the flow resistance can be kept low and a best possible flow guidance can be achieved, which supports the mixing of the reducing agent and the exhaust gas.
In a further preferred embodiment of the invention it is provided that between the catalyst and the particulate filter, a deflection of a guided through the exhaust aftertreatment assembly exhaust gas flow takes place by about 90 °. By a combination of deflection and arranged in the region of the deflection exhaust gas mixer, the effectiveness of the treatment of the reducing agent can be further improved. In this case, the metering of the reducing agent preferably also takes place in the region of the deflection, in order to utilize a turbulence of the exhaust gas connected with the deflection for a good mixing of the reducing agent and the exhaust gas. It is particularly preferred if the catalyst is flowed through substantially perpendicular to a main flow direction of the exhaust gas through the exhaust passage. In this case, the catalyst is preferably arranged "upright" and is preferably flowed through essentially in the vertical direction, in particular from top to bottom. Another advantage of the upright cat arrangement is the improved uniform distribution in front of the catalyst.
In the embodiment shown, the catalyst, in particular a diesel oxidation catalytic converter or a NOx storage catalytic converter, is lying and the particle filter is arranged vertically. This arrangement offers in certain applications, preferably in hybrid application, space advantages.
According to a further advantageous development, it is provided that the particle filter is flowed through the exhaust gas channel essentially parallel to a main flow direction of the exhaust gas. In this case, the particle filter is preferably arranged "lying" and is preferably flowed through substantially in the horizontal direction. Thereby, a particularly effective incorporation of soot in the particulate filter is possible and for the coating for the selective catalytic reduction of nitrogen oxides a sufficient residence time in the particulate filter is given to allow an efficient implementation of the nitrogen oxides on the coating.
According to a further advantageous embodiment of the invention, provision is made for a first outlet opening for connecting an exhaust system and a second outlet opening for connecting an exhaust gas recirculation to the exhaust aftertreatment assembly downstream of the particle filter. As a result, a connection for an exhaust gas recirculation, in particular a low-pressure exhaust gas recirculation, can be formed on the exhaust aftertreatment assembly, which facilitates the assembly of the exhaust gas tract. It is particularly preferred if a receptacle for receiving a filter for the exhaust gas recirculation is formed in or at the second outlet opening. In order to avoid the entry of particles into the combustion chambers, it may be necessary in spite of the proposed arrangement of catalyst and particulate filter, that the recirculated exhaust gas is filtered again. In addition, an additional filter for exhaust gas recirculation in the exhaust aftertreatment assembly can be accommodated by the inclusion in a simple manner, whereby the installation of an additional filter outside the assembly can be omitted.
The invention further relates to a method for producing an exhaust aftertreatment assembly for an internal combustion engine, wherein a catalyst, a particulate filter and an exhaust gas mixer in a be arranged common housing, wherein in the flow direction of the exhaust gas of the internal combustion engine through the housing, the catalyst is a particle filter with a coating for selective catalytic coating of nitrogen oxides (SCR coating) downstream, and with an exhaust gas mixer, which downstream of the catalyst and upstream of the particulate filter wherein a metering element for metering a reducing agent into the exhaust aftertreatment assembly is disposed on an exhaust passage segment upstream of the particulate filter, the exhaust gas mixer having a plurality of blades which are fan-shaped in the flow section between the catalyst and the particulate filter. As a result, an exhaust aftertreatment assembly can be produced in a simple manner, which comprises the essential components for exhaust aftertreatment of the exhaust gas of a diesel engine, wherein the exhaust aftertreatment assembly can be arranged near the engine due to their compact design and thus brought to operating temperature in a short time after a cold start of the engine.
According to a preferred embodiment of the method it is provided that the exhaust gas mixer is welded to a lateral surface of a housing or a housing portion of the catalyst. By a welded joint creates a thermally stable, cohesive connection that withstands the stresses of everyday operation of an internal combustion engine and manufacturing technology can be implemented comparatively inexpensive.
According to an advantageous embodiment of the invention it is provided that the housing of the exhaust aftertreatment assembly a first housing portion in which the catalyst and the exhaust gas mixer are arranged, and a second housing portion in which the particulate filter is arranged, wherein the first housing portion and the second housing portion can be connected to one another via a plug connection. An embodiment with a two-part housing, the two housing sections are aligned with a connector to each other, can be relatively easily and inexpensively. Due to the division in the housing, the assembly of the exhaust aftertreatment assembly is simplified because the space between the catalyst and the particulate filter for mounting the exhaust mixer is much easier to access.
According to a preferred embodiment of the method it is provided that the housing of the exhaust aftertreatment assembly has a first housing portion and a second housing portion, wherein the first housing portion and the second housing portion are integrally connected by a welding process. By a welded joint, the housing sections can be permanently connected to each other, wherein the housing sections are preferably aligned with each other by a connector described in the previous section.
The various embodiments of the invention mentioned in this application are, unless otherwise stated in the individual case, advantageously combinable with each other.
