Description
Technisches Gebiet der ErfindungTechnical field of the invention
The present invention relates to a flexible pressure-sensitive adhesive sheet, in particular a pressure-sensitive adhesive tape, for structural bonding, in particular for Spaltmaßausgleich various materials, such. As metal, wood, glass and / or plastic, in particular of body parts in the automotive industry.
Allgemeiner Stand der TechnikGeneral state of the art
Structural bonding of components, such. As in the automotive industry, with the help of thermosetting liquid adhesives on epoxy or urethane base has been known for years. These are applied via complex controlled metering machines and usually have no initial tack, the so-called tack, so that the components must be held in position over the curing period, so as not to slip. There have been described a few tack-adhesive systems based on acrylates which are tacky in themselves, with epoxides. The acrylates usually contain epoxy functionalities, so that in the curing step, the acrylates are also cured via the Epoxidvernetzer. However, these systems lose their tack when the epoxide content in the liquid adhesive exceeds 50% by weight. Just high Epoxidanteile in liquid adhesive but allow the components to be bonded with high bonding strengths, d. H. high shear strengths, to bond.
Disadvantage of such liquid adhesive is also that they undergo a very low viscosity phase in the thermal curing step, whereby they can spread in the adhesive joint and beyond, or "bleed", whereby the components to be bonded are contaminated with the liquid adhesive. In some cases, even such large amounts of liquid adhesive flow out of the glue joint that it is no longer possible to ensure good bonding of the components. This problem is particularly problematic in large-scale bonding and / or in such applications in which the surfaces of the components to be bonded uneven, z. B. inclined or in complex three-dimensional shape, with gap differences up to a few mm. In addition, the activation of the liquid adhesive is usually carried out at elevated temperatures, which can be problematic for sensitive components. A further disadvantage is that the low epoxy content of the liquid adhesive, although the tackiness for better positioning of the components to be bonded can be increased, but also the bond strengths of the bonded components are limited, since the shear strengths increase with the Epoxidanteilen the liquid adhesive.
One way to avoid "bleeding" due to the liquefaction, is the pre-crosslinking of the typically present polymer content in the liquid adhesive, for. B. with isocyanates. In this case, functional groups of the matrix polymers, such as, for example, -OH, -NH, -COOH, react with isocyanate crosslinkers - preference is given to using multifunctional isocyanates, such as Desmodur N 3300. When matrix polymers, such as polyurethanes, are used, the terminal hydroxyl groups can be used for crosslinking. It has been found to be advantageous to add low molecular weight OH-functional building blocks (eg Capa 2203, low molecular weight polycaprolactone, M n ~ 2000 g / mol) to the adhesive in order to accelerate the crosslinking. Although such systems show reduced bleeding, they are poorly suited for bridging gaps.
Consequently, there is a need for a pressure-sensitive adhesive system for structural bonding which solves the problems described above and which, in addition to initial pressure-sensitive adhesion, also enables a satisfactory bond strength of the components bonded thereto.
Aufgabe der vorliegenden ErfindungObject of the present invention
The present invention is based on the object to provide an improved, flexible pressure-sensitive adhesive sheet-like structure for structural bonding, in particular to compensate for gap differences of the components to be bonded. Against this background, the present invention proposes a flexible pressure-sensitive adhesive sheet as defined in the claims in order to obviate the problems of the known liquid adhesives described above.
”gap filling”.In particular, a flexible pressure-sensitive adhesive sheet is provided, which is easy to handle and already has a pressure-sensitive adhesive, so that there is no slippage during application to the components to be bonded and a more precise bonding than in the known in the art liquid adhesives is possible , In addition, the flexible pressure-sensitive adhesive sheet-like structure of the present invention is characterized in that it remains dimensionally stable in the thermal curing step and therefore does not flow out of the adhesive joint or "bleeds", so that the bonding of the components to be bonded is guaranteed at any time and high bonding strengths can be achieved , In addition, gap differences of up to a few mm between the components to be bonded can be compensated with the flexible pressure sensitive adhesive sheet according to the invention, so-called "gap filling".

Detaillierte Beschreibung der ErfindungDetailed description of the invention
According to the invention, the above-described object is achieved by a flexible pressure-sensitive adhesive sheet which comprises (a) an open-cell, flexible foam as a carrier and (b) at least one thermally curable pressure-sensitive adhesive laminated to each side of the open-cell, flexible foam. Hereinafter, the present invention will be described in detail.
Offenzelliges Schaumsubstrat (a)Open cell foam substrate (a)
The flexible pressure sensitive adhesive sheet of the present invention contains an open cell foam substrate (a), which is preferably flexible and / or compressible. The object of this foam substrate is to form an inert backbone for the thermally curable PSA so that it does not cause the problems mentioned in the prior art but is taken up by the open-cell foam substrate before or during the thermal curing in liquefied and / or low-viscosity form is and then solidified in this, ie stored, is. In this way, an easier handling during the bonding is ensured and prevented from flowing out (or "bleeding") of the thermally curable PSA, so that the bond to be achieved is ensured quickly and permanently. After Hardening of the thermally curable PSA, the open-cell foam substrate is no longer flexible and no longer compressible, but fixed by the cured PSA in the desired shape.
Inert in this context means that the reactive component (ii) of the thermally curable PSA, i. H. reactive monomers and / or reactive resins, such as (meth) acrylates or epoxy resins, under suitably chosen conditions, e.g. B. at sufficiently low temperatures, after curing substantially not reacted with the open-cell foam substrate.
For the purposes of the present invention, all open-cell foams can be used as the open-cell foam substrate. An "open-celled foam substrate" (or "open-cell foam") is a cellular structure, low-density substrate which, preferably by pressure, can significantly reduce its volume, i. H. is compressible, but still has elastic or viscoelastic behavior with a minimum restoring force. "Open cell" in this context means that the cell walls of the foam are not closed, i. H. that liquids can be absorbed. In extreme cases, the open-cell foam substrate according to the invention consists only of cell webs. In contrast, closed-cell foam substrates in which the walls between the individual cells are completely closed, d. H. basically no liquids can be absorbed. Mixed cellular foams contain both types of cells. The "open-cell foam substrate" in the sense of the invention must fundamentally be able to absorb liquids (or the PSA liquefied during curing), i. H. mixed-cell foam substrates are also suitable.
The open cell foam substrate may be in any form. Preferably, the open-cell foam substrate is already in the form of a film, a tape or a strip of any width or even a pad of any contour, which may optionally be wound onto a roll. Alternatively, during the process (step E), the open cell foam substrate may be wound up on a roll and cut into a strip of any width, strips of any width, or pads of any contour.
In principle, the thermally curable PSA must be able to wet the foam substrate. Preferably, the temperature stability of the foam substrate is higher than the crosslinking temperature of the PSA. Preference is given to using polar foam substrates with high surface energy, so that the surface energy of the foam substrate is higher than the surface energy of the pressure-sensitive adhesive.
Suitable open cell foam substrates for use in the present invention are elastomers, i. H. chemically crosslinked plastics, and preferably selected from the following list: polyurethane and / or derivatives thereof, in particular elastomeric polyurethane esters and ethers, melamine and / or derivatives thereof, nitrile rubber, polystyrene and / or phenoplastics.
An "elastomer" basically consists of main valence chains (polymer chain depending on the chemical structure), which are only cross-linked. With relatively small external forces, the main valence chains can slide against one another by stretching the crosslink bonds. However, they remain connected and have a restoring force. In contrast, "thermoplastics" are mentioned, which consist of non-branched, d. H. linear, main valency chains (polymer chains depending on the chemical structure) are constructed and connected only by weak physical bonds (that is, without chemical crosslinking).

In the present invention, an accelerator may be added to the thermosetting PSA. This causes the starting temperature for the crosslinking reaction of the reactive component, in particular of the epoxy resin, is reduced. This improves handling during bonding.
As accelerators, in particular modified and unmodified imidazoles, urea derivatives, acid anhydrides, tertiary amines, polyamines and combinations thereof can be used, such as. B. Urone the Dyhard ® series, which are available from AlzChem AG, CHEMIEPARK TROSTBERG, PO Box 1262, 83303 Trostberg, Germany. By way of example, mention may be made of Accelerator 960-1, Accelerator 2950, Accelerator 3130, DT 3126-2, XB 5730, or DV 070, which are available from Huntsman International LLC.
The amount of the accelerator is determined in relation to the reactive resin content and given in phr (parts per hundred resin). According to the invention, the amount is in the range from greater than 0 to about 6 phr, preferably about 0.1-3.0 phr. Most preferably, about 0.2-1.0 phr, in each case based on the total amount of reactive resins of the thermally curable pressure-sensitive adhesive mass used.
Klebharzeadhesive resins
Adhesive resins can be used for the present invention, but an adhesive resin is unnecessary for the adhesives of the present invention. It is achieved without Klebharzzusatz the desired pressure-sensitive adhesive of the adhesive.
If adhesive resins are used, suitable adhesive resins are those which are known to the person skilled in the art, for example, from the abovementioned work by Satas. The PSA may contain at least one kind of preferably at least partially hydrogenated adhesive resin, e.g. As such, which is compatible with the elastomer component and, if a built-up of hard and soft blocks copolymer is mainly compatible with the soft block (soft resins).
A corresponding adhesive resin can have a softening temperature, measured by means of Ring & Ball method, of greater than 25 ° C. and, in addition, at least one type of adhesive resin with a softening temperature of less than 20 ° C. This can, if necessary, be fine-tuned on the one hand, the adhesive behavior, on the other hand, the Auffließverhalten on the bonding substrate.
For rather nonpolar elastomers, as resins in the PSA, partially or completely hydrogenated rosin-based rosin derivatives, hydrogenated dicyclopentadiene polymers, partially, selectively or fully hydrogenated hydrocarbon resins based on C 5 , C 5 / C 9 or C 9 Monomer streams, polyterpene resins based on α-pinene and / or β-pinene and / or δ-limonene and / or Δ 3 -Caren, hydrogenated polymers of preferably pure C 8 and C 9 aromatics are used. The aforementioned adhesive resins can be used both alone and in admixture.
Both solid and liquid resins can be used at room temperature. In order to ensure high aging and UV stability, hydrogenated resins having a degree of hydrogenation of at least 90, preferably of at least 95, are preferred.
Weitere Bestandteile der thermisch härtbaren HaftklebemasseFurther constituents of the thermally curable PSA
The reactive adhesive films of the present invention may optionally contain other additives and / or adjuvants known in the art, such as e.g. As rheology modifiers, flame retardants, foaming agents, fillers, plasticizers, crosslinkers, UV stabilizers, antioxidants or adhesion promoters.
Advantageously, inductively heatable metals in finely divided form (iv) can be added to the thermally curable PSA so that it can be heated by induction.
Hotmelt-HaftklebemasseHotmelt PSA
The thermosetting PSA (b) of the present invention may, depending on the choice of the polymer (i), the reactive component (ii) and the activator (iii), be a thermosetting hotmelt pressure-sensitive adhesive typically at room temperature (23 ° C). fixed. After heating to temperatures in the range of 40-140 ° C, the hotmelt PSA is melted or liquefied, so as to obtain a liquid PSA. "Melting" or "liquefaction" within the meaning of the invention is therefore intended to bring the hotmelt adhesive into a flowable form.
A "hotmelt adhesive" here stands for an adhesive that is solid at room temperature (23 ° C.) (bond strength to steel <1 N / cm) and softens after being heated to temperatures in the range of 40-140 ° C. and becomes tacky. The molten hot melt adhesive is typically contacted or coated while hot with the release liner and upon cooling forms a solid bond with curing. Consequently, according to the invention, a hotmelt pressure-sensitive adhesive is a very viscous pressure-sensitive adhesive or a very free-flowing hotmelt adhesive (hotmelt adhesive), both of which drastically change their flow properties under heating.

The flexible pressure-sensitive adhesive sheet which is produced by the process according to the invention comprises, in the simplest case, an open-cell foam substrate and the thermally curable (hotmelt) PSA, and can be prepared by the process described herein.
A "pressure-sensitive adhesive sheet-like structure" here stands for a sheet-like foam substrate as support material, which is optionally covered on both sides with (hot melt) pressure-sensitive adhesive and a release liner and wound onto an Archimedean roll. From the pressure sensitive flat structure can be printed and Stamping also self-adhesive labels are made in strip form by methods known in the art.
The pressure-sensitive adhesive sheet-like structure obtainable by the process according to the invention is preferably a pressure-sensitive adhesive film, a pressure-sensitive adhesive tape, a pressure-sensitive adhesive strip or a pressure-sensitive adhesive pad.
The pressure-sensitive adhesive sheetlike structure of the invention generally has a layer thickness in the range of about 0.05 mm-10 mm, preferably about 0.1 mm-5 mm and particularly preferably about 0.5 mm-3 mm. To produce larger layer thicknesses, it may be advantageous to laminate several pressure-sensitive adhesive tapes together.
In addition, an adhesive-tacky sheet-like structure according to the invention is particularly advantageous when the bond strength of the cured pressure-sensitive adhesive sheet measured by the dynamic shear test on steel is at least 3 MPa, preferably 8 MPa, in particular greater than 12 MPa. Such bond strengths provide a very stable and durable connection between the materials to be bonded and, for example, for bonding with high demands on the bond strength, such. In the automotive industry.
Furthermore, the pressure-sensitive adhesive sheet of the invention may comprise further films, layers, adhesives, (permanent or temporary) supports, release papers and / or release liners.
Substratesubstrates
Suitable substrates which are suitable for bonding by the pressure-sensitive adhesive sheetlike structure according to the invention are metals, glass, wood, concrete, stone, ceramic, textile and / or plastics. The substrates to be bonded may be the same or different.
In a preferred embodiment, the adhesive sheet-like structure according to the invention is used for the bonding of metals, glass and plastics, in particular with oiled surfaces.
The substrates can also be painted, printed, steamed, sputtered or otherwise pretreated, such. B. on flaming, corona, plasma or chemical processes, such as applying a liquid primer / primer, be prepared.
The substrates to be bonded may take any form required for the use of the resulting composite. In the simplest form, the substrates are flat. In addition, three-dimensional substrates, the z. B. are inclined or have a complex 3D structure, are glued to the pressure sensitive adhesive sheet of the invention. In particular, gap differences occurring between the substrates can be compensated with the pressure-sensitively adhesive sheetlike structure according to the invention (so-called "gap dimension compensation").
Verfahren zur Herstellung eines flexiblen haftklebrigen flächigen GebildesProcess for the preparation of a flexible pressure-sensitive sheetlike structure
A pressure-sensitively adhesive sheetlike structure according to the invention is produced by the process described below: In a first step (step A. (I)), the ingredients as defined in claim 10 are dissolved or finely divided and mixed in one or more solvents , To prepare the mixture, conventional stirring devices are used. Alternatively, no solvent is necessary because the ingredients are already completely soluble in each other (possibly under the action of heat and / or shear).
As used herein, the term "ingredient" includes the employed polymer (i), the reactive component (ii), the activator (iii), and other optional components as defined above.
Suitable solvents are known in the art, preferably solvents are used in which at least one of the ingredients has a good solubility. Particularly preferred is butanone or acetone.
In an alternative embodiment (step A. (II)), a hot melt pressure sensitive adhesive (or melt pressure sensitive adhesive) comprising the ingredients as defined above may be melted or liquefied by heating to temperatures in the range of 40-140 ° C to obtain a liquid to pasty pressure-sensitive adhesive which is suitable for subsequent coating. "Melting" in the context of the invention is therefore intended to bring the hotmelt adhesive into a flowable form.
A "hot-melt pressure-sensitive adhesive" here stands for a pressure-sensitive adhesive which is solid at room temperature (23 ° C.) and, after heating to temperatures in the range of 40-140 ° C., converted into a flowable form. A release liner is typically coated with the hotmelt adhesive flowable by increasing the temperature while hot and forms a solid compound upon curing to cure. Consequently, according to the invention, a hotmelt pressure-sensitive adhesive is a very viscous pressure-sensitive adhesive or a very free-flowing hotmelt adhesive (hotmelt adhesive), both of which drastically change their flow properties under heating.
Then, in a second step (step B), a liner (or release paper / release liner) with the mixture of the dissolved or finely divided ingredients according to step A. (I) or a melted hot melt pressure-sensitive adhesive after step A. (II) which includes the ingredients coated. The coating is done by the usual techniques known in the art. The layer thickness of the resulting pressure-sensitive adhesive film on the liner is preferably in the range of about 50 to 500 microns, more preferably in the range of about 75 to 300 microns, more preferably in the range of about 100 to 250 microns. According to the invention, the shear strengths (and thus the bond strengths in the cured, bonded state) increase with the layer thickness of the pressure-sensitive adhesive films laminated to the foam substrate.
A "liner" is a release paper having an anti-stick surface which can be impregnated or impregnated by coating a suitable substrate, e.g. As a film, with a material having water-repellent (hydrophobic) and / or oil-repellent (oleophobic) properties such. As silicone, oil, grease, polypropylene or fluorocarbon, can be produced. The liner serves to protect the surface of the adhesive and permits transfer of the solidified pressure-sensitive adhesive (s) to the open-cell foam substrate, as described below.
In a preferred embodiment of the invention, the viscosity of the pressure-sensitive adhesive is increased after coating the liner, but before laminating the foam substrate. This can be achieved by (I) evaporating a solvent, if present, at room temperature (23 ° C) over a period of several minutes to several hours, such as. (II) cooling the product obtained from step B to room temperature (23 ° C) if a hot melt adhesive was used after step A. (II) or the pressure-sensitive adhesive was heated after step A. (I), or (III) precrosslinking (or precuring) of the adhesive by radiation or chemical reaction at elevated temperature. The pre-crosslinking can z. B. be carried out by electron beam treatment.
In a fourth step (step D), the lamination of a flexible open-cell foam substrate as described above takes place with at least two pressure-sensitive adhesive films obtained from step C, optionally still covered with the release liner on the side facing away from the foam, on one side of the foam substrate. In this way, the pressure-sensitive adhesive sheet-like structure according to the invention is produced.
Optionally, the flexible pressure-sensitive adhesive sheet of the present invention in a further step (step D), optionally together with a release liner, are wound into a roll.
For storage, the flexible pressure-sensitive adhesive tapes according to the invention are preferably covered with a release liner or paper.
Kit zur Bereitstellung eines erfindungsgemäßen haftklebrigen flächigen GebildesKit for providing a pressure sensitive adhesive sheet according to the invention
In addition, according to the invention, a kit for providing a flexible pressure-sensitive adhesive sheet-like structure is provided, wherein the kit contains at least one flexible pressure-sensitive adhesive sheetlike structure as described above. Another component of the kit could be, for example, a molded part to be bonded, an interior trim element for an automobile or an aid with which the flexible pressure-sensitive adhesive sheet can be applied to a substrate, wherein the components of the kit can be present in a common packaging.
Typically, the flexible pressure-sensitive adhesive sheet of a kit according to the invention is used as follows:
The flexible pressure-sensitive adhesive sheet is applied to a surface of a substrate to be bonded. This is then brought into contact with a surface of a second substrate to be bonded and kept in contact for a few seconds to several minutes at room temperature (23 ° C) for a press time and then increased in the range of several minutes to one hour at Temperatures such. B. 100 to 200 ° C, preferably about 160 ° C or 180 ° C, heated, whereby the PSA liquefied and penetrates into the pore structure of the foam substrate or is absorbed by this and further a crosslinking or polymerization reaction of the ingredients, in particular the reactive component, starts and the thermally curable PSA cures (thermal curing). The incorporation of the liquid adhesive or molten hot melt adhesive into the pores of the open cell foam substrate may also be considered to be soaking or soaking during thermal crosslinking. According to the invention, preferably at least 50% of the pores of the open-cell foam substrate are filled with the liquid adhesive or the molten hot-melt adhesive, ideally completely, during the crosslinking.
”Thermisch härtbar” bedeutet erfindungsgemäß, dass durch Vernetzung der einzelnen Komponenten der Haftklebemasse die Fließfähigkeit der thermisch härtbaren Haftklebemasse innerhalb der Schaumstruktur verringert wird."Thermally curable" means according to the invention that crosslinking of the individual components of the PSA reduces the flowability of the thermally curable PSA within the foam structure.
After bonding and thermal curing / crosslinking, the foam substrate is fixed in the form predefined by the substrates to be bonded by the pressure-sensitive adhesive cured in the pores of the open-celled foam substrate, bridging gap differences being achieved so that even complex-shaped substrates can be obtained do not exactly match, d. H. are characterized by an uneven adhesive joint, can be glued together.
Further, according to the invention, a composite body is provided, which is connected by the flexible adhesive sheet-like structure according to the invention, as defined above, or by the kit according to the invention, as defined above. In this case, a "composite body" is any three-dimensional object which consists of at least two substrates which are held together by the pressure-sensitive adhesive sheetlike structure according to the invention after curing.

Die Klebkräfte auf Stahl wurden analog
Verklebungsfestigkeit (Zugscherung)Bond strength (tensile shear)
Herstellung von erfindungsgemäßen HaftklebebändernProduction of pressure-sensitive adhesive tapes according to the invention
Solche Aufbauten sind in folgender Tabelle 2 detailliert beschrieben: The adhesives were spread on a siliconized PET film of solutions in butanone (solids content: 40 wt .-% to 50 wt .-%), the solvent removed at 105 ° C and covered the open side with a second siliconized liner. The layer thicknesses were 50 μm ± 3 μm and 100 μm ± 5 μm. The adhesive tapes according to the invention were produced by lamination of these pressure-sensitive adhesive films on both sides of corresponding foams. Such structures are described in detail in Table 2 below:
As shown in Table 3, it follows from a comparison of the comparative structure VA1 with the structures A1-A4 according to the invention that both the bond strength of the uncured structures with decreasing reactive resin content and the shear strengths in the cured state decrease. In order to be able to measure VA1 despite the lack of adhesive force, the two steel substrates were heated to 50 ° C for bonding. If the reactive resin content is too low (<50% by weight) or if the matrix polymer content is too high, the ability of the adhesives to flow into the open pores decreases sharply, so that a clear foam break can already be seen in VA1. This is easy to see because the cohesive fracture pattern is an elastic foam shows. In contrast, assemblies A1-A4 according to the present invention exhibit cohesive fracture patterns that are very hard thermoset.
The open-cell foams of bodies A5-A7 were equipped with different thicknesses of adhesive film. The shear strengths increase with the layer thickness of the adhesive films laminated to the foam substrate. The more adhesive is present, the better and more complete the pores of the foam are wetted in the curing step and filled with adhesive.
The comparison of A8 and VA2 shows that an open-pored foam structure is of fundamental importance in order to obtain bond strengths greater than 2 MPa. Only then it comes with the flowing hardening adhesive to a reinforcement of the foam.
