Furthermore, a flexible methane production from electricity and biomass is described in the press release of KIT No. 162 of 17.12.2014. Here, too, honeycomb-shaped catalyst bodies are used.
In the described prior art problems always occur with the permanent fixation of the catalyst on the carrier in question. In the case of ceramic (porous supports), this is usually of lesser importance or in part also technically solved. Due to the better heat dissipation and the low pressure loss but especially in exothermic reactions metallic (non-porous) support structures are interesting. Here, however, the problem of permanent fixation of the catalyst on these materials comes to the fore.
The invention accordingly provides a process for applying at least one catalyst to surfaces, in particular to those surfaces which are not porous.
This object is achieved by a method in which a suspension of a catalyst is prepared with an oxidizing agent and applied to the surface.

Hierfür kommen in erster Linie metallische Oberflächen in Betracht. As material for the surfaces, any compounds may be considered. Ie. Both porous and non-porous materials can be used. However, particularly preferred are porous materials. For this purpose, primarily metallic surfaces are considered. The surfaces may also contain such metals, d. Suitable materials for the catalysts are the following preferably inorganic elements. These elements can be used individually or in any combination of one or more elements. The catalysts in question can also be used in the form of oxides.
An example of a usable catalyst is the ruthenium catalyst. This catalyst can form a composition with the elements aluminum, cerium, silver, chromium, iron and titanium, which acts catalytically. A particularly preferred catalyst contains or consists of nickel.
Ebenso sind auch Platin/Ceroxid-Katalysatoren einsetzbar. Diese können regelmäßig Aluminium, Ruthenium, Zirkonium, Eisen, Silber, Chrom, Nickel, Magnesium, Hafnium enthalten. According to the invention, nickel is preferably used as the catalyst. This may also be present in combination with the elements mentioned.
In the method according to the invention, the described mixture is applied to the surface or the surface is impregnated therewith. The order can be carried out with all methods familiar to the person skilled in the art. In the simplest case, the surface is immersed in the suspension and thus reaches a coating. This is followed by drying regularly. According to the invention, in a preferred variant, the surface may be covered with a so-called heat-shrinkable tube. The surplus suspension runs out of this layer when pulling out.
The surface is dried regularly and the heat shrink tubing removed because it is not temperature resistant. If there is no shrink tubing, this process step is not necessary.
Besonders bevorzugt ist der Bereich von ca. 80 g/m2.After drying, the surface is calcined. Ie. Within the temperature range of 400 ° C to 550 ° C 450 ° C are particularly preferred. This is followed by cooling, preferably in a desiccator. Possibly. the process steps are repeated until the necessary amount of catalyst mass is applied. According to the invention, the amount of catalyst mass is preferably 50-120 g / m 2 honeycomb surface. Particularly preferred is the range of about 80 g / m 2 .
In an alternative according to the invention, the surfaces acted upon by at least one catalyst are also claimed. The order is made in the described method.
The exposed surfaces are mainly used for carrying out exothermic reactions. The hydrogenation of CO and CO 2 is an example of such a reaction. Ie. Above all, for the methanation of carbon monoxide and carbon dioxide-containing synthesis gases, the coated surfaces according to the invention are particularly suitable.
The surfaces can be subjected to a pretreatment. For this purpose, materials come into consideration, by means of which the surface increases, d. H. becomes porous. An example is the use of aluminum in combination with hydrochloric acid, sulfuric acid, phosphoric acid and nitric acid. Particularly preferred is hydrochloric acid. Likewise, however, the acids mentioned can be used individually or in any desired combination of one or more acids.
