Description
The invention relates to a method for avoiding stray light on socket parts or lens edges of optical imaging systems.
Stray light in imaging optical systems can arise when an area within the optical system, e.g. the cylinder of an intermediate ring is illuminated by an external light source through lying in front of this surface optical subsystems. This surface scatters the light falling on them more or less violently depending on the angle of incidence and surface condition. The area appears more or less bright in the optical system. The scattered light can be imaged directly into the area of the exit pupil by the optical subsystem behind it in the case of objectives, or in the area of the exit pupil in the case of observation devices. Is the light energy used to illuminate a surface very high, e.g. when the light is focused, then the scattered light can also illuminate additional parts of the socket, which in turn scatter the light falling on them. This light can also pass through the underlying optical subsystem in the image field. Such multiple reflexes on socket parts are negligible in most cases because of the lower residual energy. In prism and mirror systems, however, they must be taken into account. If the scattering light-causing area is near a pupil plane, e.g. in the lens of a binoculars or in the aperture area of a lens, then a large area of the image field is outshined. The picture appears milky. If the area is near an intermediate image, e.g. of a telescope, then arise in the image rather punctiform or very small areas forming reflections with more or less severe aberrations.
A classic method for reducing such stray light effects is to matt the critical frame parts or lens edges black or to provide longer frame cylinder with a concentric Riefelung. However, these Riefeln act only as a dull-black surface, but not completely prevent stray light, because the flank angle of the individual boots are so steep that they always have a rounding or a small cylinder together with their adjacent edge. Several of these boots then work together like a normal surface.

The development of imaging optical systems has been used for many decades. sequential raytracing software (lens design programs). The rays strike the optical surfaces in a fixed order.
Sequential ray tracers are very well suited for optimizing imaging systems, i. for the iterative adaptation of the optical system data to a desired optimum of the image quality. However, the lens design programs neglect the effects of the mechanical environment of the lenses, such as lens mounts, bezels, housings where light can be scattered. The construction of the sockets for the calculated optical system takes place in a separate development, so that usually only after the existence of a prototype the system can be examined for stray light influences.
In
A non-sequential raytracer should consider both surface reflection and diffuse scattering. The number of resulting beams in the system increases significantly in this way, so that must be ensured by appropriate termination criteria that the computational time for the simulation in a reasonable and above all reasonable time frame can be completed.
The invention was based on the task instructions for the frame construction using conventional sequential raytracing software to specifically determine specific design parameters to avoid stray light.
This object is achieved in a method of the type mentioned in the present invention that the irradiated from the object side surfaces are designed so that they are not visible from the image side and visible from the image side surfaces are not illuminated from the object side can. Advantageous embodiments of this instruction will become apparent from the features of the dependent claims.
This instruction is based on the recognition that an area within the optical system can only cause direct scattered light if it is visible both from the object side and from the image side. This applies, for example for parallel to the optical axis cylinder surfaces when they are in the vicinity of the space required for the Nutzlichtübertragung. For the socket designer, therefore, there is the teaching to arrange such surfaces as far as possible outside of the useful light beam bundle, taking into account mechanical requirements.
Whether an area within the optical system can be illuminated from the object side depends on the critical angle of a beam which can emerge from the optical subsystem in front of this area and reach this area. In order to determine this critical angle, the angles of the ray bundles entering the optical subsystem from the object space are increased with the raytracing software until no light passes through the subsystem.
Whether an area within the optical system is visible from the image side, depends on the critical angle of a beam that can enter from this surface in the optical subsystem behind this surface and image side exit from this subsystem. In order to determine this critical angle, the angles of the ray bundles entering the optical subsystem from the examined surface are increased with the raytracing software until no more light enters the image space.
Since the raytracing programs are designed for beam guidance from the object side to the image side, the determination of the former limit angle can be simplified by reversing the order of the lenses of the subsystem.
If an area which is illuminated from the object space has a greater angle of inclination with respect to the optical axis than the critical angle of the entrance beams for the subsequent optical subsystem, then this area is not visible from the image side.
If a surface which is visible from the image side, with respect to the optical axis has a greater inclination angle than the critical angle of the exit beam of the preceding optical subsystem, then this surface can not be illuminated from the object side.
As long as the surface areas mentioned are outside the limit angle determined by the method according to the invention, they are not illuminated from the object side and are not visible from the image side. The shape of such surfaces can be freely designed.
Therefore, in addition to the usual design parameters such as free lens diameters, lens thicknesses and lens distances, the socket designer can also specify the mentioned inclination angles for selected cutting planes between the lens elements. If it results in the frame construction that due to mechanical stability conditions, the predetermined inclination angle can be maintained only over a limited extent along the optical axis, a simple redetermination of the inclination angle can be done in other sectional planes.
The usual design rule, according to which all mechanical mount parts are spaced as far as possible to the imaging beam path can be optimized in consideration of the required tilt angle with respect to the necessary distances, so that weight and size of the socket can be minimized.
The method can also be used advantageously on the basis of a first design of a frame construction for checking and optimizing the angles of inclination of socket parts and within longer glass paths, such as, for example, in prism systems.
Dabei zeigenIn the drawing, an embodiment for illustrating the method steps is shown schematically and will be explained in more detail with reference to FIGS. Show
The examination according to the invention of a further cutting plane, e.g. In the area of the subsequent long rising flank, an individual design with different angles of inclination may also be required in this area.
