Micro- and nanostructured surfaces allow the modification of surface properties of already used materials and find a variety of applications in the most diverse technical areas such as in medicine, fluidics, sensors, optics and in bionic applications. By using such micro- or nanostructures, it is possible, for example, to influence wetting behavior (for example in shipbuilding or fluidic applications), absorption of certain substances (for example of proteins or oils), optical properties (reflection, transmission, diffraction), cell growth and self-cleaning effects on surfaces. As a result, for example, durable colored surfaces are produced without the use of dyes or the energy efficiency of solar cells achieved by reduced reflection of the incident light.

Detaillierte Beschreibung Detailed description
The solution of the problem is based on a method for producing a shaped body. To carry out this production process, a first structure is introduced into a film comprising a shape memory polymer in a first process step a) at a temperature above the permanent deformation temperature of the shape memory polymer. The temperature remains below the decomposition temperature of the shape memory polymer. The result is a structured film that corresponds to the permanent shape.
The permanent deformation temperature is defined as the temperature at which it is possible to fix a polymer with shape memory into a permanent shape. Shape memory polymers can then be temporarily fixed in a deformed form. The reset temperature or switching temperature is the temperature at which the original, permanent shape is resumed and the temporarily fixed shape is replaced.
Then, in a second process step b), at a temperature below the recovery temperature of the shape memory polymer, the structured film is flattened so that a planar film, i. a film with a planar structure surface is created, which now corresponds to the temporary shape.
In the subsequent process step c), a polymer film is applied to the planar film, which now serves as a substrate, to form a composite comprising a film and the planar film. In a further method step d), a second structure is introduced into the polymer film. This results in a structured composite comprising a structured polymer film and the planar film.
Subsequently, the shape memory polymer is returned to the structured form from process step a) at a temperature above the reset temperature and below the permanent deformation temperature, so that a shaped body comprising the structured polymer film and the film structured in process step a) is formed as a carrier structure for the polymer film. The molding is then removed.
In a particular embodiment, the structured film is pulled apart laterally between method steps a) and b). Preferably, this separation at about 100 ° C but always below the permanent deformation temperature, so that the shape memory polymer is not too rigid and ruptures. This lengthens the period of the first structure. Thereafter, the stretched structured film is cooled and removed. When stretched at room temperature, the maximum draw is limited. In the subsequent flattening the existing first structures are not overturned by pulling apart, but really flattened. Especially with higher aspect ratios of structures tipping of the first structures is indeed possible. In particular, the production method according to the invention is advantageous for first structures which have an aspect ratio of from 1, preferably from 1.2, more preferably from 1.5. Preferably, the structures have a rectangular cross-section. The lateral stretching is retained until recovery of the shape memory polymer. Thus, it is ensured that the polymer film applied in process step c) is distributed over the entire film and that the first structures return to their original shape upon recovery of the shape memory polymer and that they do not change from the tilted mold to an upright mold. In the latter case, no 100% provision would be possible.
The stretching is done manually or by machine. Preferably, the pulling apart by means of a tensile testing machine, which provides better and reproducible results. Preferably, the film is drawn at a speed of 1 cm / s up to 450%.
In a particular embodiment, the structure is introduced into the film in the first method step a) by introducing the film comprising a shape memory polymer between two parallel thermally conductive plates, wherein at least the second plate is provided with a structure. Furthermore, a pressing pressure is applied between the two plates and the two plates are heated, so that the film is heated to a temperature above the permanent deformation temperature and below the decomposition temperature of the shape memory polymer and formed by the formation of the structure in the film, a structured film. Subsequently, the patterned film is brought to a temperature below the glass transition temperature of the shape memory polymer and removed.
In a further embodiment, in the second method step b) the structured film is introduced between two parallel heat-conducting plates, wherein both plates have a planar surface. Subsequently, a pressing pressure is applied between the two plates and the two plates are heated, so that the structured film is heated to a temperature below the permanent deformation temperature of the shape memory polymer and thus the structure molded in the film in step a) is flattened. Finally, the planar foil is removed. at When heated below the permanent strain temperature, the shape memory polymer is easier to deform and the forces required are less.
Preferably, method step c) is carried out by means of a coating of the planar film through the polymer film. Preferably used for this is the process of spray coating, horizontal dip (H-dip) coatings, chemical vapor deposition or chemical vapor deposition (CVD), in which a monomer is vapor-deposited and polymerized on the surface of the substrate, and particularly preferably spin-coating. For this purpose, a polymer in solution is added dropwise in the middle of the substrate. The substrate is rotated about an axis of rotation oriented orthogonally to the film, the layer thickness being controlled by the rotational speed and the polymer concentration of the solution. The layer thickness of the polymer film is preferably selected between 10 nm and 100 nm, since the film later does not have to be transferred to a mold insert and therefore may have a small thickness. The handling of films in a thickness of 10 to 100 nm is very difficult because they are not mechanically stable. The curing of the polymer is carried out at low temperatures, preferably at room temperature, to prevent premature recovery of the shape memory polymer.
In a particular embodiment, the application of the polymer film to the planar film by means of spin coating. For this purpose, a polymer in solution is added dropwise in the middle of the substrate. The substrate is rotated about its vertical axis, whereby the layer thickness is controlled by the rotational speed and the concentration of the solution. The layer thickness is chosen to be extremely thin, since the film does not later have to be transferred to a mold insert. The thickness of the polymer layer depends on the conventional process of spin coating and is at least up to 10 nm lower limit. The curing of the polymer is carried out at temperatures below the recovery temperature, preferably below 30 ° C., more preferably at room temperature, unlike conventional spin coating, in order to prevent premature recovery of the shape memory polymer. The curing is preferably carried out at room temperature and under vacuum to reduce the time required of up to 12 hours without vacuum to 1 hour with vacuum.
In a particular embodiment, the structure is introduced into the polymer film by means of two parallel plates, wherein at least the second plate is provided with a structure. Following the introduction of the bond between both plates, a pressing pressure is again applied between the two plates and the two plates are heated so that the composite is heated at or above the glass transition temperature of the polymer of the polymer film and below the permanent deformation temperature of the shape memory polymer. The patterning of the structure into the polymer film results in a structured composite comprising the structured polymer film and the planar film. Subsequently, the thus structured composite is cooled and taken out to a temperature below the glass transition temperature of the shape memory polymer.
Preferably, the pressing pressure is 10 to 30 MPa and depends on the polymer and the process temperature.
In a particular embodiment, process step d) is carried out under vacuum. In this case, the polymer is heated in vacuum above its glass transition temperature and pressed under pressure into the cavities corresponding to the structure of the second plate. The polymer flows into the cavities and fills them out. The vacuum prevents air from entering the cavities while the plates are pressed together, and the pressure leads to an increase in temperature which would burn the polymer according to the principle of the diesel effect.
Preferably, during process step d) the pressing pressure is maintained until the temperature has dropped below the recovery temperature of the shape memory polymer, preferably below 30 ° C. This is important to avoid additional demolding forces that occur due to premature recovery of the shape memory polymer and damage the embossed structures.
In a further embodiment, the resetting of the shape memory polymer takes place by first applying the structured composite to a thermally conductive plate, the plate having a planar surface. Subsequently, the plate is heated to the glass transition temperature of the polymer and below the permanent deformation temperature of the shape memory polymer. This results in a shaped body comprising the structured polymer film and the structured film. The molding is then cooled and removed. At this temperature, the film can be more easily deformed according to the principle of thermoforming, while maintaining the second structure of the polymer film. The shape memory polymer reverts from its planar form to its original structured form, thereby forming the polymer film into its first structure without damaging the second structure.
In a further embodiment, a gas pressure of 5 to 50 bar is used during process step e). This gas pressure in the environment the polymer film surface prevails, allows the structures in the polymer film to remain undamaged during recovery of the shape memory polymer, the polymer film to adhere to the shape memory polymer as the lowermost substrate. Thus, a release of the applied polymer film during the recovery of the shape memory polymer is prevented by this in process step e).
Preferably, in the latter method step of restoring the structured composite is clamped in a tensile testing machine. This allows a controlled lateral reset and, as needed, a delay of the lateral reset until the vertical reset has begun or is already completed.
The present invention further includes a molded article. This comprises a structured film having a first structure on which a deformed structured polymer film having a bottom and a top is applied. Further, this is fixedly connected with its underside with a surface of the structured film and has on its upper side a second structure independent of the first structure, the second structure having a depth below 500 nm.
In a further embodiment, the thickness of the polymer film is between 10% and 50 of the cavity width of the second structure. Otherwise, the polymer film does not fit into the cavities. If a film is stretched in a cavity, the film may be at most half as thick as the cavity is wide. This is because the film has to go into the cavity on one side and come out on the other side. If the film is too thick, it can not be pressed into the cavity, because the available space in the cavity is insufficient. Thus, the film thickness affects the lower limit of the size of the thermoformed structures.
Preferably, the thickness of the film comprising a shape memory polymer is between 100 nm and 1 μm.
In a particular embodiment, the patterned film comprises a shape memory polymer. Preferably, the deformed structured polymer film comprises a thermoplastic elastomer, preferably polymethyl methacrylate (PMMA).
- – Benzolderivate
- – Starke Basen
- Aromatic hydrocarbons such as toluene or xylene or a mixture of both.
- - Benzene derivatives
- - Strong bases
The solvent is selected such that it does not attack the shape memory polymer, does not chemically initiate recovery of the shape memory polymer, and has a low vapor pressure for the spin coating process step. In fact, a low vapor pressure ensures low roughness and a uniform layer with significantly reduced radial thickness variations. As a medium of choice is used as solvent in spin coating usually anisole, which has a low vapor pressure. However, anisole initiates early chemical recovery of the shape memory polymer. Contrary to the general teaching, the solvent is preferably toluene or xylene or a mixture of both, which is present as pure ortho, meta or para-xylene or as a mixture of at least 2 of these constitution isomers particularly preferably xylene.
Preferably, the polymer film polymer has a glass transition temperature which is above the recovery temperature of the shape memory polymer, otherwise the structures of the polymer would deliquesce once the recovery temperature is reached in step e). Furthermore, the glass transition temperature of the polymer from the polymer film is preferably below the permanent deformation temperature of the shape memory polymer.
In a further embodiment, the second structure of the deformed structured polymer film has undercuts resulting from the recovery of the shape memory polymer from its planar form into a structured form.
Furthermore, the present invention relates to a use of the method according to the invention for the production of antireflection coatings for solar cells and optical detectors, color pigment-free colored surfaces with self-cleaning effect or microchannels with structured walls.
In particular, the process according to the invention can be used for the production of large-area three-dimensional structures in the micro and nanoscale, such as photonic structures, non- use wavelength-specific antireflection coatings for solar cells or optical detectors.
A particular advantage of the present invention is that the handling of the thinnest polymer films between 30 and 1000 nm) is simplified or only made possible by the process according to the invention. Dealing with the thinnest polymer films is avoided throughout the process. This eliminates the need for a troublesome component that is susceptible to failure in production and which occurs below the single-digit micro range. The small thicknesses of the films are a basic requirement for the production of microstructures and nanostructures, since the theoretical limit of the layer thicknesses lies at half the cavity width of the structures. Furthermore, the uniform stretching of the film allows higher aspect ratios and undercuts than is the case in classical thermoforming with a first approximate square thickness profile.
A further advantage is that the structures produced by means of the method according to the invention are truly three-dimensional, corresponding to a topography on an existing basic structure in contrast to the vertical projections of two-dimensional structures of the classical hot stamping process. Any stresses and damage caused by the molding during demolding are avoided here. Furthermore, the polymer film is stretched uniformly, which is not the case with conventional thermoforming. Thus, the uneven thinning of the films is bypassed in the thermoforming process, which ultimately allows higher aspect ratios.
Another advantage of the present invention resides in the size of the manufacturable three-dimensional structures. These are in the nanometer range and are therefore suitable for applications in the field of visible light. This results in numerous applications, for example in the production of colored surfaces with self-cleaning effect or generally in the increasingly based on optical systems information technology. In addition, the nanostructures are produced in parallel over a large area, rather than serially and on small surfaces, as is the case, for example, with laser-based methods. The significantly cheaper and also more flexible production of nanostructured surfaces allows for the first time their large-scale use in technical areas. Laser-based methods are also limited by their wavelength because they are limited by laws of physics to resolutions in the wavelength range. Previous production techniques were able to produce either nanostructures, the production of which was laborious and therefore slow, expensive and therefore limited to small areas or large-scale structures produce, the minimum size but could not be reduced to this level due to the production principles. The manufacturing process presented here combines the advantages of both principles and allows three-dimensional nanostructures to be produced quickly and inexpensively on large surfaces. In addition, the possibility of being able to spincoate polymer films directly on the shape memory polymer offers further potential for applying this process to even smaller structures.
The present invention makes it possible to produce large-area and thus cost-effective three-dimensional nanostructures with polymers.

Subsequently, the structured film was laterally pulled apart in a tensile testing machine with a specially designed clamping device.
The process step involved the temporary flat embossing of the film on the hot-forming plant. The film was placed in the system and covered in step a) structured surface with a silicon wafer. Subsequently, a force of 100 to 200 N was applied and the Tecoflex to 80 ° C and the Tecoplast heated to 100 ° C and waited until the system was heated to 5 ° C below the desired temperature. After an additional waiting time of 60 s, a force of 20,000 N was applied to the surface of the used mold insert of 45 × 45 mm 2 , which corresponds to a pressure of about 10 MPa. After a holding time of 5 minutes, the system was cooled, waited until the temperature had dropped below 30 ° C, and then the force set to 0N. Subsequently, the planar film was removed.
In process step c) the polymer film was applied by means of spin coater. For this, the planar film was fixed on a Si wafer for better retention by means of adhesive tape. The planar film fixed on the Si wafer was placed in the center of the spin coater and fixed by means of vacuum. The polymer solution Allresist AR-P 672.045 or Allresist AR-P 672.02 or PMMA dissolved in xylene with a concentration of 2 wt .-% or 3 wt .-% was applied centrally on the molding. The spin coating was carried out with a rotation of 2500 revolutions / min and a spin duration of 60 s with the lid closed. Thereafter, the polymer film was cured at a room temperature (below 30 ° C) for 12 to 16 hours or at room temperature and under a vacuum of less than 3 mbar for 5 to 10 minutes.
In process step d), a second structure was embossed into the polymer film in the hot forming unit by placing the composite and the mold insert in the plant. A force of 25,000 N was applied to an area of 45 x 45 mm 2 , which corresponds to a pressure of about 12.5 MPa. Thereafter, the Tecoflex was heated to 90 ° C and the Tecoplast to 100 ° C and waited until the system was heated to 5 ° C below the desired temperature. After a waiting time of 300 s, the system was cooled down to a temperature below 30 ° C. and the composite of the structured polymer film and the planar film was removed.
In process step e), the first structure or primary structure was then restored by fixing the composite from process step d) to a plate in order to prevent undesired distortion or deformation. The plate provided with the composite was placed in a preheated oven at 100 ° C and after a waiting time of 15 min, the molding was removed.

It was hot-stamped by the method described in Embodiment 1, a 200nm thick polymethyl methacrylate layer with a line pattern of 200 nm period and then thermoformed to a line shape with 2.5 micron period.
