Description
The invention relates to optical components which are formed as a molded part, wherein the molded part is a layer system. The layer system of the molding according to the invention is constructed from at least one thin glass film, on the first and / or second glass surface, an optical layer is arranged. The layer system furthermore comprises a further layer of a plastic material arranged on the first or second glass surface and / or on the optical layer. The invention further relates to a method for producing such an optical component and the use of the optical components, for example as a mirror, lens, window, beam splitter and waveguide, etc.
Optical components such as e.g. Mirrors, lenses, beam splitters or waveguides can basically be made of glass or plastic. For areas where light weight of the optical devices is important, e.g. in eyeglass lenses, plastics are increasingly being used today. However, the requirements placed on such transparent plastics are high. Thus, the optical components are expected to have a high scratch resistance, but at the same time these components must also be very light. Furthermore, the optical components should have a protection of the plastic surfaces against chemicals and solvents, and if possible, a UV protection should be given. Ultimately, it is also necessary that the optical quality of the components, which is required for the application, is guaranteed.

A disadvantage of the optical element described therein, however, is that the film described is not sufficient in its scratch resistance. In addition, the optical properties can not be specifically influenced in the direction of a specific application in order to obtain an optical element that is optimally suitable for the desired use.
Based on this, it is the object of the present invention to propose optical elements which have a scratch resistance compared to the prior art compared to plastic components and which at the same time have a low weight. Also, the optical quality of the optical elements should be increased compared to those of the prior art. The object of the invention is furthermore to provide a corresponding method for producing such optical elements.
The object is solved by the features of
According to the invention, an optical component is thus proposed which is present as a molded part, this molded part being formed by a layer system. The layer system of the optical components according to the invention is constructed from at least one thin glass film, on the first and / or second glass surface has an optical layer and another on the first or second glass surface and / or on the optical layer of a plastic material.
- • High scratch resistance compared to comparable plastic components without thin glass surface
- • No additional scratch-resistant coating is required (eg in the form of UV or thermosetting paints, PEDVD coatings, etc.).
- • At the same time, it creates a very light component (compared to glass components).
- • The optical quality of the optical interference layer systems can be better guaranteed on glass (or thin glass), as they are much more stable with regard to heating, UV irradiation or particle bombardment by the coating process.
- • The thin glass also represents a significant protection of the plastic surfaces against chemicals, solvents, etc.
- • On the back of the thin glass can also be applied a UV protective layer, which increases the UV resistance of the optical plastic component.
- • Embedding of different optical and other functions (eg antistatic, IR-reflective, electrically heatable by internal TCO coatings, etc.) through coating and thin glass.
The advantage of using a thin-glass foil for the optical component to be produced is the fact that the coating of planar-held thin glasses with vacuum coating methods is much easier to carry out economically than the coating of three-dimensional plastic components.
According to the invention, it is thus also provided that the structure of the optical components according to the invention is based on a thin-glass foil as described above, and that then an optical layer is applied to the first and / or second glass surface. The application of the optical layers on the thin glass sheet can be done by means of a known vacuum coating method. Examples of such vacuum coating processes are chemical vapor deposition (CVD), preferably a plasma-assisted vapor deposition (PECVD), or else a vapor deposition method or a sputter deposition. The optical layer preferably has a density of 0.1 .mu.m to 10 .mu.m.
An essential element of the invention is thus that the optical components according to the invention, starting from a planar thin glass sheet can be very economically and effectively provided with an optical layer. The optical layer may be, for example, an antireflection layer, a dielectric mirror or a filter. Such optical layers, also referred to as interference layers, are usually made from metal oxide layers by the sputtering methods described above. As metal oxides are silica, tantalum oxide, titanium oxide, niobium oxide or alumina to call.
In the case of the optical component according to the invention, either a surface of the glass surface may be coated with an optical layer or both glass surfaces. The optical layers can also be heated, IR-reflective and / or antistatic at the same time.
The layer system of the optical components according to the invention further comprises a plastic layer, which is usually applied by injection molding. The thickness of the plastic layer may be in the range of 100 microns to 10 cm.
As materials for the plastic layer, in particular transparent plastics come into question. Examples of these are polymethyl methacrylate (PMMA), polycarbonate (PC), polyethylene terephthalate (PET), polypropylene (PE) or polystyrene (PS). The structure of the layer system according to the invention also includes embodiments in which the thin glass sheet is not the outermost layer. In this case, then, e.g. On an upper surface of the thin-glass foil, an antireflection layer is applied as an optical layer, which even meets high requirements in terms of scratch resistance. In this case, on the opposite side of the thin glass sheet, a second optical layer, e.g. an optical filter are applied, which in turn is then back-injected from a plastic layer. Embodiments are also included in which more than one optical layer is arranged on top of each other when the optical component to be produced requires it. Finally, embodiments are also included in which two of the optical components described above are pressed together to form a system.
The invention is thus subject in the layer structure with respect to the optical layers and the plastic layers no restrictions.
Absorptionen aufweisen. According to a preferred embodiment, the optical component is optimized in such a way that the thin glass sheet and the plastic layer are adapted in their optical properties, in particular with respect to the refractive index and the absorption, i. that both the thin glass film and the plastic layer have almost identical refractive indices or absorptions.
The invention also opens up the possibility that additional layers, so-called adaptation layer systems for adjusting the optical properties, are provided for adjusting the alignment of the optical properties between the thin glass film and the plastic layer. It is also possible for adhesion promoter layers to be arranged on the plastic layer for better bonding of the thin glass film. In addition, it is possible that the plastic layer is provided with a UV-absorbing layer.
The invention further comprises a method for producing an optical component as described above.
The manufacturing process comprises three essential steps. In a first step, at least one optical layer is applied to at least one of the surfaces of the thin glass foil by means of a vacuum coating method. In the next step, the coated thin glass sheet is then shaped into the desired shape of the optical component by means of a thermal process. Subsequently, i. As the last method step, a plastic layer is then applied to the first or second glass surface and / or to the optical layer of the molded component by injection molding.
The essential advantage of the method according to the invention is seen in the fact that for the production of the optical component, first on a thin glass, an optical layer, i. an optical interference system consisting of metal oxide layers such as silica, tantalum oxide, titanium oxide, niobium oxide or even aluminum oxide is produced by means of a vacuum coating method as described above. The thin glass, i. the thin glass sheet is then only in the next step, i. e. thermoformed with the optical layer system by being pressed into a mold in the heated state. The forming process is carried out at temperatures greater than 500 ° C, preferably 700 ° C, depending on the plastic material. Subsequently, one or more of the reshaped thin glass is injected back-molded or back-pressed in a further form with a transparent plastic.
The coating of planar-held thin glass with vacuum coating process is easier to carry out and more economical than the coating of three-dimensional plastic components. Another advantage of the method according to the invention is also seen in the fact that the stretching of optical layers during the molding process can be specifically compensated. Namely, the optical layer deposited on the thin glass is usually stretched by the working, resulting in a change of the optical characteristic. If, however, the optical layer system is deliberately inhomogeneously applied to the thin glass (for example via suitable masks during coating or by targeted removal by means of sputter etching), then the change in thickness can be compensated for by the forming. It can thus be produced by the inventive method optimally adapted layer systems for the molded optical components.
The optical device according to the invention, which is produced by a process as described above, can, of course, be prepared by conventional post-processing steps, e.g. Polishing, still to be optimized.
The optical components according to the invention are used according to the invention as a mirror, lens, window, beam splitter, waveguide, HUD combiner, or optical filter.
