Stand der TechnikState of the art

Offenbarung der ErfindungDisclosure of the invention
According to the invention, a forming device is provided, which is designed to impress formation currents for the formation of at least one battery cell of a battery into an activation of electrochemical processes in the battery cell. In this case, the forming device comprises a bidirectional multiphase DC-DC converter, wherein the multiphase DC-DC converter such a high number of parallel connectable bidirectional DC-DC converters, in particular of bidirectional Tiefsetzstellern comprises, and the forming device is further adapted to clock the DC-DC converter in such a way that by means of Forming device forming currents, each having a desired current profile, generated and can be imprinted in the battery cell. The forming currents may comprise block-shaped forming currents, each having a current ripple, the size or amplitude of which falls below a predetermined threshold value, and are to be impressed into the battery cell during at least one predetermined charging process and at least one predetermined discharging process. The forming currents may also comprise alternating currents which each have a current change rate which exceeds a predetermined threshold value and which are to be impressed into the battery cell, in particular for carrying out an impedance spectroscopy of the battery cell. Under current ripple can be understood the residual ripple or in the case of direct current superimposed alternating current component.
According to the invention, a method is also provided for forming at least one battery cell of a battery, in which forming currents for activating electrochemical processes by means of a forming device are impressed into the battery cell. In this case, by means of a arranged in the forming device multiphase DC-DC converter comprising a suitable number of parallel connected bi-directional DC-DC converters, in particular bidirectional buck converter, which are suitably clocked, generates forming currents, each having a desired current profile, and impressed in the battery cell become. In this case, the forming currents can be generated as block-shaped forming currents, each of which has a current ripple that falls below a predetermined threshold value, and impressed into the battery cell during at least one predetermined charging process and at least one predetermined discharging process. Also, the forming currents may be generated and injected into the battery cell as alternating currents each having a current changing speed exceeding a predetermined threshold, in particular for performing impedance spectroscopy of the battery cell.
By means of the use of a multiphase DC-DC converter according to the invention, which comprises a suitable number of bidirectional DC-DC converters, which are each preferably designed as step-down converters, a shaping device with a dynamic range significantly widened in comparison to the prior art is implemented with suitable clocking of the DC-DC converter. As a result, on the one hand, the block-shaped currents can be represented during formation with a current ripple of low amplitude or with a small alternating component, and on the other hand, the maximum possible rate of change of current can be increased. Because of the higher dynamics, which is made possible due to the expanded dynamic range, the inventive forming device can realize alternating currents with high-frequency sinusoidal current waveforms at much higher frequencies. This makes it possible in particular to perform impedance spectroscopy up to very high frequencies.
In a particular advantageous embodiment of the invention, the forming device according to the invention is further adapted to the DC-DC converter in each case by means of a to clock each central clock and / or clocked to offset the DC-DC converter against each other. The inventive forming device can also be designed to clock the DC-DC converters by means of a pulse width modulation and / or the DC-DC converters each by means of a pulse width modulation, which has the same pulse period for all DC-DC converters to clock offset from each other for a predetermined time. In particular, the predetermined time is only a fraction of the pulse period duration resulting from the division of the pulse period by the number of DC-DC converters.
In a further particularly preferred forming device, the DC-DC converters each comprise a smoothing choke. In particular, each smoothing inductor has an inductance whose magnitude falls below a predetermined threshold value.
In other words, the bidirectional multiphase DC-DC converter is preferably designed as a bidirectional multiphase buck converter, which is composed of two or more buck-boosters connected in parallel. These buck converters are expediently operated via a central clock and with a pulse width modulation realized offset by 1 / n of the pulse period duration, where n is the number of buck converters present in the bidirectional multiphase buck converter. This makes it possible to achieve a very good smoothing of the output currents of the forming device even when using chokes with very small inductances and a very high dynamics, that is, to realize very high rates of change of the output currents of the forming device.
The higher the number of offset clocked buck converters, the higher the demands can be placed on the rates of current change while realizing DC currents with very small and very small current ripple, respectively. However, the complexity of implementing the multiphase converter increases as the number of buck converters increases, so that, depending on the requirements placed on the dynamics and the accuracy of the forming devices, an optimum of the respective implementation effort in the range of two to six phases is reached.
In a very advantageous embodiment of the invention, the DC-DC converters each comprise a first power semiconductor, in particular a first MOSFET transistor, and a second power semiconductor, in particular a second MOSFET transistor. In this case, the forming device is designed to guide the block-shaped forming currents during the charging process by means of the first power semiconductors and during the discharging process by means of the second power semiconductors and impress in the battery cell.
Preferably, the forming device is further configured to control the power semiconductors such that the power semiconductors operate during the generation of the forming currents in switching operation and the electrical energy removed during the discharging process of the battery cell is fed back into a supply network for supplying the battery cell.
Due to the fact that the power semiconductors of the forming device operate in the switching mode, the power loss occurring in the formation output stage is reduced considerably. This applies in particular to high charging and discharging currents. The formation amplifier is designed to be regenerative without significant additional effort. As a result, the electrical energy which is removed during the discharging processes of the battery cells to be formed can be fed back into the supply network.
Furthermore, the forming device according to the invention may comprise a DC intermediate circuit and a feed device for feeding electrical energy into the DC intermediate circuit, wherein the multi-phase DC-DC converter on the input side with the DC voltage intermediate circuit and the output side is connected to the battery cell. The feed device is designed to be regenerative.
Thus, in particular regenerative forming devices according to the invention are used in the formation of battery cells whose power switches or power semiconductors operate in switching operation. As a result, the power loss in such Formative stages can be massively reduced and the energy that is generated during the discharging during formation and burn-in and conventionally has been converted into heat loss, fed back into the grid. Furthermore, by means of the forming devices according to the invention, high-frequency currents can be impressed into the battery cells to be formed in order, for example, to be able to carry out impedance spectroscopy. According to the invention, in particular, regenerative power electronics for formation output stages are provided which, on the one hand, implement high demands on the dynamics of the output currents of the formation output stages and, at the same time, high demands on the accuracy of the output currents of the formation apparatus. The high demands on the dynamics are based on the necessity of output currents, In particular, sinusoidal output currents having high rates of current change or high maximum frequencies to produce. The high demands on the accuracy of the output currents, such as the block-shaped currents during the formation of battery cells, in particular based on the need to produce output currents with no alternating components at constant current set value paths.
According to the invention, a forming device and a method for forming at least one battery cell, in particular a lithium-ion battery, are provided.
According to one aspect of the invention, a battery is also provided, which is equipped with the forming device according to the invention.
