According to the pronounced prevalence, stress represents an age- and population-group-wide problem to which stress management, i. H. an active fight against stress, can be answered.
In the biological sense, stress is a natural and vital adaptive response of the human organism to its environment. Stress serves to expose the body in stressful situations, d. H. in the presence of stressors, to prepare for attack or flight. The initiation of these reaction mechanisms, by the autonomic nervous system, requires the internal control and coordination of the functions of all organs, which influence the circulatory activity, respiration, heat balance and metabolism. Typically, blood pressure and heart rate increase, and muscle tissue is pre-tensioned to escape stress.
However, if the organism is in a stressful situation for a long time, the adaptation reaction itself becomes a burden on the body. This increases the probability of the occurrence of mental illnesses and diseases of the cardiovascular, nervous and digestive system.
A temporary load is accompanied by reversible symptoms such as fatigue, body aches, fatigue, and weight loss. Extreme and persistent, d. H. Chronic, pain is accompanied by sometimes serious side effects. Disorders of sleep behavior, the associated biorhythm and serious effects on the immune system can occur. For example, stress also increases the likelihood of serious illnesses such as cancer or Alzheimer's disease.
Thus, it is important to restore the physical and mental well-being through targeted self-management strategies.
In order to be able to objectify the handling of stress, and to choose suitable coping strategies, it is known that the individual stress level, d. H. an objectively determinable intensity of the severity of stress, determined by stress measurements. In addition to direct methods such as the microneurography or the radiotracer method exist indirect methods.
The methods of indirect stress measurement can be made on the basis of different sizes. In addition to blood pressure, stress also affects heart rate and heart rate variability (HRV). The HRV describes the temporal fluctuations between successive heart beats, so-called NN intervals. The heart rate variability can be represented, for example, in a so-called tachogram over time. Variations in HRV vary according to load. In order to be able to determine the stress level on the basis of the HRV, an HRV analysis can be carried out both in the time domain and in the frequency domain. By means of the indicators obtained from this HRV analysis, the stress level can be assessed objectively.
The analysis in the time domain is based on the analysis of the temporal course of the tachogram. The tachogram can be evaluated by statistical parameters, such as the standard deviation of measured NN intervals (SDNN), which can then be used as indicators for the objective determination of the stress level. Larger values of SDNN correspond to larger variations between NN intervals. Furthermore, the square root of the mean square value of the sum of all differences between two adjacent NN intervals, RMSSD for short, is also used for the evaluation. It reflects rapid variations in heart rate and is currently the best-known and best-known measure for detecting high-frequency variations in NN time-interval intervals.
In order to be able to carry out an analysis of the HRV in the frequency domain, the tachogram first has to be analyzed, for example by means of a Fourier Transformation into a frequency spectrum, ie power density spectrum, decomposed. The frequency spectrum of a tachogram typically contains three dominant spectral ranges. For each spectral range, a measure of the spectral power is determined in such a way that the area is determined under the spectral density function. Typerweise three frequency bands are distinguished.
A high-frequency (RF) band contains high-frequency respiratory correlated changes in the heart rate, usually in the range 0.15 to 0.40 hertz, but alternative often ranges from 0.12 to 0.40 hertz. It is an undisputed selective measure of parasympathetic activation.
A low frequency band (LF) involves slower heart rate oscillations and extends over the frequency range of 0.04-0.15 Hertz. This frequency band is predominantly, but not exclusively, conditioned by sympathetic activation. An unspecified part also goes back to parasympathetic activity.
A frequency band (VLF) still below the low-frequency band is usually set in the frequency range between 0.003-0.04 hertz. At present there are only incomplete knowledge about the physiological regulatory mechanisms of this frequency band.
For example, an indicator of the stress level may be formed from the ratio of the measures of the LF frequency band and the RF frequency band. This allows a statement about the relative weighting of both frequency components and thus about the relative degree of sympathetic versus parasympathetic activation (sympatho-vagal balance).
However, the perception and processing of the stress situation is very individual, but some coping strategies have a universal character.
Three groups of coping strategies can be distinguished. These include instrumental methods such as prevention of stress through intelligent time management, cognitive methods such as positive thinking, and palliative-regenerative methods of regulating stress responses.
In the palliative regenerative approach to stress reduction, the exercises help reduce the psychosomatic arousal and thus induce the feeling of relaxation. An additional use of a biofeedback increases the effectiveness of the mentioned exercises.
A progressive muscle relaxation is based on the user focusing on the tension and subsequent relaxation of a particular muscle group. The controlled and careful tension of given areas of the body detracts from mental involvement and stress factors and prevents muscle pain as a result of stress.
A stress response causes an increase in heart rate and respiratory rate. Conversely, the respiratory pattern can affect the autonomic nervous system and thus enhance or reduce the effect of the stressors. The connections between respiration and the activity of the autonomic nervous system provide the basis for the design of breathing exercises, as it can be used to regulate the stress response. Overall, it can be said that deliberately deep breathing can produce a positive effect.
An interesting aspect is that self-controlled breathing exercises are proven to be more effective compared to progressive muscle relaxation and cognitive stress management. The implementation and exercise of different exercises, however, makes sense due to the individual differences.

It is also expedient if, during the output of the stress reduction instructions, a third indicator is calculated with the calculation means which is evaluated by the evaluation means. The stress reduction instructions are adjusted as a result of the evaluation of this third indicator. This adaptation may, for example, relate to the content or length of a single exercise. This can effectively intervene during the stress reduction instructions in their effectiveness.

In addition, it can be provided that the measuring means is integrated in the mobile terminal, whereby the applicability of the device according to the invention is simplified.
In one embodiment of the device according to the invention it is provided that the at least one measuring means is an oximeter for measuring a pulse waveform of the person formed from pulse waves.
