Erörterung der relevanten TechnikDiscussion of the relevant technology
Modern vehicles are complex electrical and mechanical systems that use many components, devices, modules, sub-systems, etc., such as built-in electrical and electronic systems (EES), which exchange electrical information between and among each other using sophisticated algorithms and data buses. Vehicle EESs become much more complex when they are developed in response to a continuously increasing need to install electronic and electrical control units (ECUs) in vehicles. For example, a modern full-size vehicle may have seventy or more ECU's to provide control and instruction operations for the EES's in a vehicle. These control units enable advanced safety, facilitation and comfort features as well as the achievement of new emission and fuel economy standards. However, the rapidly growing number of ECUs and their peripheral devices in a vehicle lead to complex interactions that sometimes cause unexpected behavior, such as dangerous or cascading errors.
Like all things, EES's and ECU's are susceptible to deviations, failures and errors that could affect the operation of the vehicle. The algorithms that operate in the ECU's generate information and calculations of data stored in memory. Furthermore, signals can be transmitted between the ECU's via wirings to cause certain operations, such as adjusting an actuator, to be performed. All of this information could collapse in some way, such as as a result of loose wiring, memory failure, calculation inaccuracies, etc. Thus, the transfer of data or messages between different elements in the system, whether along physical wiring or within the software is used to determine errors. Furthermore, the current techniques used in integrated vehicle health management (IVHM) and active safety systems still lack standards and standards for addressing needs to improve and qualify the ease of maintenance and complexity in the EESs.
When such deviations and errors occur, the affected device or component can often issue an error code, such as a diagnostic problem code (DTC), received by one or more system controllers that identify the error or an auxiliary error with an integrated component. In order to be able to record and analyze DTC's and other errors, it is necessary to identify the data that are required and to isolate the errors and to collect the data at a suitable location. Once the data is collected, diagnostic algorithms are used to analyze and process the data and provide it in a format that can be analyzed. When the data has been processed, the cause of the error can be identified. For example, DTC's can be analyzed by service technicians and engineers to identify problems and / or to make system corrections and updates. Diagnostic modeling involves determining the cause of a problem that has already occurred. Known fault modeling methods for diagnosing components and sub-system faults can use Bayesian networks, dynamic Bayesian networks, hidden Markov models, fuzzy logic, acceptance networks, Petri networks, etc.
An object of the present invention is to provide a method which enables error limitation and error mitigation in a networked system with little computation effort.
Zusammenfassung der ErfindungSummary of the invention
To achieve this object, in accordance with the teachings of the present invention, a method of identifying an information monitoring point for fault isolation and mitigation analysis in an electrical or electronic system (EES) for a vehicle is disclosed. The method includes defining a network model of the EES that provides the physical, structural, functional, and behavioral aspects of the EES, identifying potential monitoring points in the model as targets, such as nodes. The method then determines a betweenness centrality metric, which holistically models complex interactions among layers of power, wiring, sensors, and control of communication in the EES, for each target in the model as a summation of a ratio a total number of shortest routes between each pair of the targets and a number of shortest routes that pass the target whose inter-state centralization measure has been determined. The method identifies which of the intermediate state centralization measures is greater than a threshold that defines a minimum acceptable measure and determines which of these goals achieve a predetermined model coverage. The monitoring point is selected as a target that best meets the minimum dimension and the predetermined coverage.
Additional features of the present invention will become more apparent from the following description and the appended claims, taken in conjunction with the accompanying drawings.

Detaillierte Beschreibung der AusführungsformenDetailed description of the embodiments
The following discussion of a system and method for selecting a data monitoring point in a network model of a vehicle EES using an intermediate state centering measure is only exemplary in nature and is not intended to limit the invention or its uses. For example, as mentioned, the present invention forms a particular application of an EES to a vehicle. However, one skilled in the art will recognize that the system and method of the present invention will have applications for systems other than vehicle systems.
The present invention proposes a system and method for selecting a data monitoring point in a network model of a vehicle EES for an integrated fault containment and mitigation analysis (FIMA) system. The input to the system is the network model, which can be a layered network that represents the physical components, structural, functional and data flow characteristics of the EES. Each layer in the network represents an aspect of the EES ready, for example a physical network layer represents physical wire connections of the ECU's, a functional network layer represents relationships between ECU's and virtual components in the virtual network etc. Nodes in the network can be annotated with node attributes, for example an ECU can be represented by two nodes , one node being connected to the node attribute "send" and the other being connected to "receive" in the message network. The nodes can be annotated with node types, for example in a news network. ECUs are represented as nodes with the "ECU" node type, with messages being represented as nodes with the "Message" node type. The development of a node type leads to node partitions, the nodes in the same partitions having no edges, for example an ECU node is not directly connected to another ECU node, but via message nodes in the message network. Edges can be commented with edge attributes, the value of an attribute typically representing the information flows between nodes. Edges in the network can connect nodes through different layers.
The system uses a multi-partitioned and / or multi-attributed intermediate state centralization measure, which quantifies complexity and maintenance in the distribution of the importance of a node in the layered network, which holistically complex interactions among the layers of power supply, wiring, sensors , control and communications in the EES models. An intermediate state centralization measure is a known feature in the emerging field of network science and is used to identify the importance of nodes and edges in the network, the importance being arranged to determine which of the nodes and edges are the monitoring points. The system uses the intermediate state centralization measure to provide a random and application based failure strategy to simulate emerging and cascading failure scenarios and recommends failure detection and containment monitoring points for a desired diagnostic coverage.
The purpose of the system and method for selecting a data monitoring point is to address the need for quantifying complexity and maintenance in the growing complex of interactions of the EES and to improve error containment and mitigation analysis capability. Vehicle EES's have become very complicated in response to a continuously growing demand for installing ECU's in a vehicle. The cause of EES failures is likely to have an impact across the network layers of the EES, ranging from electrical power, physical wire connections, functional relationships between software components, measurements, sensors, controls, and data flow across the network. The current state of analysis techniques are generally directed to single layered systems focused on a single application, such as end-to-end latency analysis for a CAN, which is important for its quality but has a shortcoming in addressing problems that are caused in other layers of the EES network.
The system quantifies the importance of a node or edge having control over paired connections between other nodes or edges that are in the same or different parts of the EES. In other words, the intermediate state centralization measure quantifies the importance with which a node or edge has control over a paired connection between other nodes that have the same or different attributes. The system uses multipartite and / or multi-attribution of the intermediate state centralization measures in order to classify and recommend the containment and monitoring points, which cannot be discovered by single layer analysis techniques in conventional intermediate state centralization measures. The system provides application-based and random failure simulation strategies for recommending error detection, containment and mitigation points for a desired diagnostic coverage. The system views the EES as a built-in and complexly distributed system that is subject to the development of fault detection, containment and mitigation. The system uses an error simulation approach with a new family of intermediate state centralization measure to address application-based and random failures in the EES. The system is able to recommend monitoring points for fault isolation and for potential applications of fault mitigation for different failure scenarios.
This is done to force the shortest stretches so that the start and end nodes are in the same part as the intermediate nodes. For example, one ECU node is connected to another ECU node through a gateway ECU with some message nodes along the route.

To improve the maintainability of the system, potentially more tools can be introduced into the system to improve the reliability of the targets with a high interstate centralization measure or to improve the diagnostic coverage of the targets with a low interstate centralization measure. Such a sales analysis to improve a maintainability design can potentially be possible through the distribution of the intermediate state centralization measure.

For the failure strategy in step (1), the present invention proposes two options, namely an application-based and a random failure strategy. For the application-based failure strategy, the present invention determines the target with the highest rating of the intermediate state centralization measure, assuming that a most used target is most likely to fail. Alternatively, a random state is introduced into the application based failure strategy by failing the target according to the distribution and its intermediate state centralization measure. For the random failure strategy, the target is random according to a uniform distribution.
Dieses dient als Basis der nachfolgenden Fehlerabgrenzungsanalyse im Schritt (8).In step (6), the system quantifies how the failed targets affect the meaning of a surviving target, under the control of pairwise connections. The change in the intermediate state centralization measure is calculated, classified and recorded for each failure simulation. This serves as the basis for the subsequent error delimitation analysis in step (8).
In step (7), the system uses a variety of criteria to decide whether the simulation is complete. For example, the simulation is stopped when all points of the intermediate state centralization measures are zero or when the graph is cut off when the network is initially fragmented.
After the failure simulation is complete, step (8) uses the distribution of the intermediate state centralization measures that result from the simulated sequential failures to make recommendations for failure detection, containment and mitigation analysis. Three different analyzes can be carried out for error detection and limitation. First, for the application-based failure strategy, the selected goals for a subsequent failure and the monitoring points for a fault containment can be used, because they will next fail according to the assumptions of the application-based failure strategy. Second, after each simulated failure, a new FDI monitoring point is used for the systems using the procedures shown above. Third, surviving goals are grouped using positive and negative changes in the intermediate state centralization measures before and after each failure simulation. The group with positive changes in the intermediate state centralization measure indicates that they have gained importance, while the group with negative changes in the intermediate state centralization measure indicates a loss of their importance. The mean and variance of the changes could be calculated in the distributions to quantify the effects of the simulated failures.
Next, the gradual effect of the sequential failures can be quantified using the mean of the normalized intermediate state centralization measure. This scale is useful even before the large component reaches its resolution threshold. By definition, nodes in two differently fragmented subsets will not have the shortest distances between them. This becomes the reduction of the mean value of the standardized intermediate state centralization measure for the entire network as a sequential failure progress.
Finally, since the FIMA system has recorded all of the surviving network fragments for each of the simulated sequential failures, further recommendations can be made as to which nodes could potentially be placed a load on to implement failure mitigation functions of failed nodes. The simplest heuristic would be to use the neighbors of the failed target nodes. Such a heuristic cannot be viable for application-based strategies because the failed node is the one of greatest importance for paired connections. The heuristic could be adapted so that each node that has the second highest importance for surviving network fragments performs the function of the failed nodes. This heuristic will avoid an immediate sequential failure and at the same time perform the function of the failed nodes which are to be used on many shortest routes.
