Abstract
Description
The present invention relates to an arrangement for model-based calibration of a robot in a workspace, comprising at least three calibration objects which are designed either as directional radiation patterns together with associated radiation pattern generators or as radiation pattern position sensors, wherein position sensors upon measurement of a radiation pattern forward measured values with position information to computing devices which determine the parameters of a mathematical mechanism model with the aid of these measured values.
- 1. mechanism: a mechanism 1 is a system of so-called segments or rigid bodies, which are connected by rotary push or screw joints. Examples are robots, portals, machine tools or hexapods.
- 2. Robot: To simplify the understanding of the present invention, the term robot 1 is used below as a synonym for the term mechanism.
- 3. Effector (5): is a segment of the mechanism to which a work object (eg gripper (with workpiece), milling cutter, camera, etc.) can be mounted for the purpose of carrying out a useful activity. The aim of the patent is to position the effector with work object exactly in the working space or relative to the robot base.
- 4. Position: summarizes the position and orientation of an object in the 3-dimensional visual space.
- 5. Joint configuration: is the total of all control values of the joints of a robot, which determines the position of all robot segments or rigid bodies including the effector.
- – zu jeder Messung werden die erhaltenen Messwerte und die dazugehörigen Gelenkkonfigurationen des Roboters durch Gleichungen in Beziehung zueinander gesetzt;
- Measurements are carried out which provide information about the effector position of a robot to be calibrated in the working space
- - for each measurement, the obtained measured values and the associated joint configurations of the robot are related by equations;
- - From the totality of the obtained equations are using mathematical methods of parameter identification such. B. Gauss-Newton or Levenberg-Marquardt method calculates the parameters of a mathematical model of the robot and the position of the involved calibration objects.
Calibration systems differ substantially by the measuring devices used and the respective underlying mathematical mechanism model.
Die folgenden Begriffsdefinitionen erleichtern die gesamte restliche Beschreibung:
Kalibrationsobjekten in5 gebildet.
- 6. A laser radiation pattern generator
3 generates directed electromagnetic radiation or directed radiation patterns such. B.single jets 2 or bundles of isolated individual beams8th or line or cross-shaped radiation patterns9 or any other pattern. - 7. Laser: For the sake of simplicity, the term laser will be used hereafter as a synonym of
radiation pattern generator 2 used. - 8. Laser radiation pattern position sensors
3 can the position and possibly orientation of anincident radiation pattern 2 register exactly relative to a coordinate system permanently assigned to the sensor. For the sake of simplicity, the term sensor will be used below as a synonym of radiation pattern position sensor. - 9. A calibration object is to be understood in the present description as a generic term for sensors and radiation patterns, including the associated laser. Contiguous images of radiation patterns on the sensor surface such as points, lines or crosses
7 are considered as a single calibration object. Disjoint radiation patterns emitted by a laser z. B. by means of splitting optics8th are generated, are considered as several different calibration objects. - 10. A calibration object pair is defined as a coherent radiation pattern together with the associated laser and a sensor.
- 11. Laser sensor systems are robot calibration systems that are based on the following principle: A calibration object of a calibration object pair is mounted on the effector and hereinafter referred to as effector object. The other calibration object of the pair is stationarily positioned in or near the working space and hereinafter referred to as the reference object. The robot moves the effector object into a plurality of positions in which at least one radiation pattern of the laser strikes the sensor. The sensor forwards the measured values to an arithmetic unit which uses the measured values and associated joint configurations calculated exact parameters of a mathematical mechanism model. Calibration object pairs can change in the course of a mechanism calibration or more precisely: each laser can irradiate different sensors and each sensor can be irradiated by different radiation patterns.
- 12. Functional group of laser sensor systems: is usually a pair of two "components" consisting of laser radiation pattern and sensor, one of which components is stationarily positioned in the room and one is attached to the effector.
5 shows z. B. two functional groups of action: an action group forms the laser with the sensor that is being hit. The other group is from the other two components or calibration objects in5 educated. In certain positions, both can perform time-synchronous measurements. The 4 groups of effects to the currently irradiated sensor in1 belong (formed by the sensor with one of the 4 laser beams) can almost always perform time-synchronous measurements due to arrangement. Note that four other groups of action exist for this arrangement, namely the same 4 laser beams that potentially interact with the other sensor that is not receiving radiation at the moment.
Die erfinderische Leistung liegt bei diesem Patent in der Erkennung der Effiziensteigerung durch starre Kombination.[Position measurement from 4-beam pose on the robot #]: [#] is a method of measuring the current position of the effector without any calibration and detection of robot parameters - the interaction is completely different from that in this invention. A closer look at [#], however, highlights some of the benefits of this invention as well as terminology. If one were to transfer the concept of the functional action group to surveying systems, [#] is a system with a single action group insofar as all four lasers are needed to determine the position safely. In the mathematical sense, exactly three laser beams are needed to describe a position. From this second perspective, and in terms of the central quality, the effect of [#] would then be a system with four action groups: the sensor along with three of the four lasers [#]. Also in terms of the decisive effect, [#] is diametrically opposed to this invention. To emphasize the difference, the same measurement that determines a given position according to [#] with high error amplification and a large error of several mm can provide a crucial contribution to the highly accurate calibration of the mechanism. For [#], the greater the distance, the worse the position is determined - with respect to the present invention, however, the same arrangement applies as in [#]: the greater the distance, the better angles are determined in the robot! the advantages and disadvantages are exactly opposite! Example: by this special measurement, in connection with all other calibration measurements and the compensation calculation is z. For example, the zero deviation in the 3rd or joint of the robot can be precisely limited as an assumed example, thereby reducing the average error after calibration from 0.3 to 0.2 mm. By the totality of Kalibmessgen - in addition to the totality of all other effector positions of the robot - especially the predetermined position with much higher accuracy than patent [#] it can. The art of calibrating is then to choose the caliber measurements so that the robot parameters are well defined in the context of all calibration measurements. Patent [#] is a poorly suited positional method because of the error amplification while the underlying calibration method, which is significantly increased in efficiency by this patent, is among the most powerful currently available calibration methods (in terms of accuracy and time consumption) and at the same time the most cost-efficient. In the context of surveying, the rigid combination in the sense of [#] is an inappropriate feature - in the context of calibration, the rigid combination is a fundamental improvement that turns a very good calibration procedure into a leading calibration procedure. This invention does not claim the rigid combination for the survey! Conversely, the inventors of [#] have in no way recognized the great effect of the rigid combination for calibration or claimed it with their patent! The inventive feat lies in this patent in the recognition of the efficiency increase by rigid combination.
While the present invention is concerned with surpassing current peak values in robot calibration in the range of about 0.1 to 0.3 mm mean error by several 1/100 mm, the method in [#] is 1000 to 2000 times Error amplification in typical applications (see Fig. - To be explained) only of limited practical value.
- – sie liefern wenige Informationen pro Messung und erfordern zu viele zeitaufwendige Messungen für kritische Applikationen wie z. B. die sogenannte Temperaturkompensation;
- – durch Verwendung eines einzigen Kalibrationsobjektpaares bleibt die durchschnittliche Stellungsgenauigkeit des kalibrierten Roboters im gesamten Arbeitsraum gering. Mit der Verwendung von mehr als zwei Kalibrationsobjekten hingegen steigt die Zahl der zu identifizierenden Parameter, was die resultierende Effektor-Stellungsgenauigkeit des kalibrierten Mechanismus ebenfalls senkt;
- They provide little information per measurement and require too much time consuming measurement for critical applications such as B. the so-called temperature compensation;
- By using a single pair of calibration objects, the average positional accuracy of the calibrated robot throughout the working space remains low. By contrast, with the use of more than two calibration objects, the number of parameters to be identified increases, which also lowers the resulting effector position accuracy of the calibrated mechanism;
- - The installation of the calibration object arrangements or the so-called calibration of the calibration objects is technically complex and time-consuming
- - The free space in the work cell, which is needed for a calibration, is large.
The object of the present invention is therefore to develop an arrangement and a method of the type mentioned in such a way that the aforementioned disadvantages are eliminated. The object is achieved in that at least two calibration objects are rigidly interconnected.
- • By taking into account the knowledge of the relative positions of the rigidly connected calibration objects or components
- - Less caliber measurements are required, because instead of the positions of many independent components only the position of a carrier object must be identified in which the positions of all independent components to each other is known in advance.
- - the results are more precise, because less has to be identified (due to fewer numerical problems in the compensation calculation)
- - reduces the decisive calibration time of the user / at the user (eg after a crash, wear, replacement of the robot or the components).
- - The setup of the calibration system on the mechanism on site (at the user) is significantly shortened.
- Practical advantages in handling arise in that objects which are rigidly connected to a carrier unit are easier to handle than several unconnected objects. For example, the (re) setup of the calibration system on the robot in the workcell (at the user) is significantly shortened, since only one object has to be calibrated, rather than multiple objects and the calibration is the most time-consuming and critical operation in the calibration.
- • More information can be obtained per measurement (more than one pair of calibration objects makes measurements). This increases efficiency (time!) And accuracy:
- - Reducing the number of measurements and increasing the redundancy reduces measurement errors and increases the inherent consistency of the measurements
- - Since there are fewer measurement positions and there are several measurements for each position through different pairs of effects, the compensation calculation has fewer opportunities to make mistakes or to smear errors over many measuring positions.
- Consistent and possibly redundant measurement results for a position ensure a reduction of errors by error averaging the overall information on this position and consequently more consistent, more accurate measurement data, which then lead to more accurate calibration results.
- - Model errors are more pronounced when measurement errors are limited and can be better limited
- • By splitting into a unique (complex pre-calibration) or measurement of the rigidly connected Kalib objects and any number of subsequent ("actual") calibrations of the mechanism succeeds
- - to save measuring effort during the following "actual calibration measurements" (especially decisive f Tempkomp)
- - To increase the precision of the result, since one-time (pre-scan) calibration can drive any expenditure and then during the actual, subsequent calibrations fewer parameters must be identified; less parameter means fewer mistakes! (1 parameter can be determined better with 100 measurements than 40 parameters because the tolerances or errors can not "smear")
Due to the large information yield per measurement, with appropriate optimization of the calibration measurement positions, expansive movements of the mechanism can be eliminated without sacrificing the resulting positional accuracy. Reducing the space required is important because space is usually limited in robot work cells.
