Description
US Anmeldeschrift US 2005/0195459 A1, Eric Hoffman et al.)The invention relates to a laser scanner for measuring target areas and to methods for measuring target areas using the laser scanner according to the invention. These laser scanners include laser rangefinders according to a signal transit time method. Such rangefinders have a transmitting device for emitting laser beams, esp. Of laser pulses and a receiving device for receiving laser radiation, which has been reflected by objects located in the target area. Both the transmitting and the receiving device are preceded by optical systems which each define an optical axis. The laser scanner further has a scanning device for deflecting the optical axes of the transmitting and receiving device in preferably two orthogonal directions, wherein the average angular velocity ω M in at least one of the two scanning directions (α, φ) is adjustable , Variable angular velocity laser scanners are known in the art (see US Patent Application 2005/0195459 A1, Eric Hoffman et al.).
During the evaluation, a spatial angle is assigned to each individual measured value, so that a 3D data set or a corresponding point cloud is generated from the target area and the distance, the two deflection angles and optionally the amplitude are recorded for each measuring point and stored in a data memory.

At large measurement distances or even at targets that have highly reflective surfaces, the echo signals can have very low amplitudes, so that the measurements are associated with relatively large uncertainties or an evaluation of the echo signals is no longer possible.
In order to allow even under such extreme conditions nor a measurement with a corresponding measurement accuracy, the invention proposes to provide a control device by which the laser scanner is adjustable in at least two different modes, wherein in a first mode, the drive of the scanning device this operates at a high, constant angular velocity ω and in the evaluation device, the individual echo signals directly, that is evaluable without summation. In another mode, the drive of the scanning device is operated at reduced average angular velocity ω M. At the same time, echo signals are summed up in the summation stage and average values are formed from the accumulated echo signals, from which distance values can be calculated in the evaluation device.
In a first embodiment of the invention, the control device operates by which the laser scanner is adjustable in at least two different modes in the second or further mode, the drive of the scanning device with reduced, constant angular velocity ω M.
In einer anderen Variante der Erfindung betreibt die Steuereinrichtung, durch welche der Laser-Scanner in mindestens zwei verschiedene Modi verstellbar ist, im zweiten bzw. weiteren Modus den Antrieb der Scan-Einrichtung periodisch, intermittierend mit einer geringen mittleren Winkelgeschwindigkeit ωM., wobei in Stillstandsphasen der Scan-Einrichtung die Aufsummierungsstufe die Echosignale aufsummiert und aus den aufsummierten Echosignalen Mittelwerte bildet, aus welchen in der Auswerte-Einrichtung Entfernungswerte berechenbar sindIn another variant of the invention, the control device, by means of which the laser scanner is adjustable in at least two different modes, periodically operates the drive of the scanning device in the second or further mode, intermittently with a low mean angular velocity ω M. Stopping phases of the scanning device summing the echo signals summed and forms from the accumulated echo signals averages, from which distance values can be calculated in the evaluation device
Advantageously, a link between the speed controller of the scanning device and the summation stage for the echo pulse signals is provided, through which, with a reduction in the average scanning speed, the number the measured values used to calculate the mean value can be increased.
According to the inventive method for measuring target areas, a target area is scanned in a first step by the laser scanner in a first mode in which the evaluation device of the laser rangefinder evaluates the echo pulse of each individual laser pulse and thus a 3D data set or generates a corresponding point cloud. The result of this first survey is then examined for areas from which no usable echo pulses have been received. It can also be determined from photographic images or from amplitude images of the laser scanner areas from which with high probability no usable echo signals are expected, but which areas could be essential for the measurement of the target area. Such areas are measured in a second step and in a second mode of the laser scanner in which the average scanning speed ω M , preferably at substantially the same pulse repetition frequency, is reduced and the echo pulses accumulated to improve the signal / noise ratio and averaged. The 3D data sets or point clouds determined in this way are linked in a third step with the results of a measurement carried out in the first mode of the laser scanner.
In a first embodiment of the invention, the scanning device is operated in the second mode at a constant, reduced speed. In another variant of the method according to the invention, the scanning device is stopped during the transmission of pulses and the measuring beam is gradually pivoted by the scanning device into the following measuring positions.
It is expedient, with a reduction of the average scanning speed ω M in the second mode to a value of ω M / N, to summate and average the echo pulses over N pulse periods, whereby a moving average is preferably calculated.
Advantageously, at a value N smaller than a predetermined threshold value, the drive of the scanning device drives it at a constant speed, but at N greater than / equal to the predetermined threshold value, the scanning device is operated stepwise, so that during the measurement of a point in the target space Measuring beam remains substantially stationary.
Be measured in the sampling of the target space in the first step only the amplitude values, the areas that ω in further process steps with reduced average scanning speed M are to be scanned subsequently, defined by the signal amplitudes. These areas contain measurement points whose echo signal amplitudes are below a predetermined level.
