Abstract
Description

Significant problems of conventional loyalty card systems exist on the one hand in the high financial and technical effort to equip all outlets with suitable readers for authentication of loyalty cards and on the other hand in the coexistence of a variety of loyalty card systems with different physical loyalty cards, which must be carried by the customer.

The virtual customer card is provided in the form of a 2D code to the customer on his mobile device (by downloading the 2D code via an Internet connection or sending the 2D code via MMS) and recorded (photographed) with the mobile device of the merchant or service provider. and evaluated. The use of usually existing mobile terminals in the form of mobile phones or smart phones makes any hardware investments for both the customer card and associated readers superfluous. The customer card is carried along by the customer via the mobile phone or smart phone, which in any case is usually carried anywhere and at any time. Existing barriers from both the customer and the merchant perspective are therefore eliminated by the invention of the virtual customer card based on 2D codes. The Internet connection commonly available today on mobile phones and smartphones also enables the implementation of a flexible and dynamic loyalty card system in the form of dynamically adapting benefits and conditions of use. In addition, the use of mobile devices to authenticate customer cards also makes it possible, by nature, to integrate mobile outlets into a loyalty card system.
