Bei einer vorteilhaften Ausführung der Erfindung ist an der Werkstückspindel ein rotatorisch anzutreibendes Werkzeug vorgesehen. Damit kann das Werkstück nach Übergabe an ein zweites Spannmittel an der Rückseite bearbeitet werden. Da das Werkstück vom Spindelmotor angetrieben wird, können am drehfest gehaltenen Werkstück beispielsweise Bohr-, Fräs- oder Schleifbearbeitungen durchgeführt werden. Für das zweite Spannfutter und das angetriebene Werkzeug werden keine separaten Antriebe benötigt. Vorteilhaft sind an der Werkstückrückseite Öffnungen herstellbar, die sich zur Außenseite hin erweitern.
