Abstract
The invention relates to a spin-stabilized projectile (1) with a guide band (4) which is composed of at least two annular partial guide bands (5, 6) arranged axially one behind the other. In order to ensure that the durability of the connection between the multi-part guide band (4) and the corresponding projectile body of the projectile (1) is also guaranteed when high centrifugal forces act on the guide band (4), as occur with artillery shells, the invention proposes before arranging each of the partial guide strips (5, 6) in a separate groove (7, 8) of the projectile (1).
Description
The invention relates to a spin-stabilized projectile with a guide band according to the features of claim 1.
In particular artillery ammunition spin-stabilized projectiles are used, on which the rear side a guide band is arranged, which is pressed into a corresponding dovetail groove of the projectile. In this case, the guide band may be formed in one or more parts, wherein in the case of a multi-part guide band, the axially adjacent annular part guide belts are also within the dovetail groove of the projectile. The partial guide bands can be made of different materials (for example brass and soft iron).
It has proved to be disadvantageous that in modern artillery projectiles due to the high rotational speed and the high centrifugal force thus generated and the relatively large width of the guide belts of about 35 to 40 mm in these projectiles, the durability of the positive connection between the respective guide band and the projectile body is often not given. Rather, due to the force acting on the guide belt high centrifugal force to a lifting or tearing of the respective guide belt, whereby the ballistics of the projectile is adversely affected.
The invention has for its object to disclose a spin-stabilized projectile of the type mentioned, in which the durability of the connection between a multi-part guide band and the corresponding projectile body is also guaranteed when centrifugal forces act on the guide band, as they occur in artillery shells.
This object is achieved by the features of claim 1. Further, particularly advantageous embodiments of the invention disclose the dependent claims.
The invention is based essentially on the idea that each of the partial guide bands is arranged in a separate groove of the projectile. The shape and arrangement of the grooves is dependent on the particular purpose. Preferably, the shape of a dovetail groove has been offered.
It has proven to be advantageous if the axial distance between adjacent dovetail grooves and / or the respective mutually facing regions of the partial guide bands are selected such that the partial guide bands directly adjoin one another. However, the partial guide belts can also be designed so that, as far as necessary, a "flow" of the material during the pipe run is made possible.
By replacing a single, relatively long (dovetail) groove by a plurality of shorter (dovetail) grooves is achieved that the centrifugal forces occurring can be better distributed. By selecting appropriate materials for the partial guide bands, both the durability of the connection of the partial guide bands to the projectile body can be ensured and the guide belt wear can be reduced.
The partial guide bands may be made of the same material or different materials, for example, to ensure both high wear resistance and good lubricity. Thus, for example, seen in the weft direction, first part guide strip made of brass and the second part guide strip made of soft iron.
It is also possible to use a material for at least a partial guide band of the projectile, which closes (repaired) defective areas of the inner surface of the corresponding weapon barrel when the projectile is fired.
Further details and advantages of the invention will become apparent from the following, explained with reference to drawings embodiment.

Of course, the invention is not limited to the embodiment described above. Rather, more than two partial guide belts can be arranged in more than two adjoining dovetail slots. The partial guide bands in the individual dovetail grooves can also be made of the same material if this is expedient (for example when using a specific ammunition or a corresponding weapon barrel).
