Abstract
Description
The invention relates to a turbine blade, which is designed for use in a low-pressure stage of a steam turbine and at least partially contains fiber composite material, wherein at least the area containing the fiber composite material, at least partially coated with a protective layer.
In order to achieve the highest possible efficiency in a steam turbine, the steam must be as far as possible relaxed. For this purpose, high flow areas are necessary in the end stage blades of the steam turbine. As a result of the large turbine blade lengths required in this way, large circumferential speeds are achieved on the turbine blade. On the one hand, the high circumferential velocities lead to very high fly forces and thus high stresses, in particular on the blade root, and, on the other hand, due to drop impact on the turbine blade in conjunction with the high peripheral speeds, drop impact erosion occurs. This leads to high wear and not infrequently to the complete destruction of the turbine blade. To reduce the centrifugal force, titanium is increasingly being used as a blade material instead of high-strength steels. The lower weight of the titanium blades reduces centrifugal force. In order to reduce the drop impact erosion, the following additional measures are currently additionally used individually or in combination: step drainage on the turbine housing wall, hardening of the leading edge of the blade, execution of suction slots in hollow guide vanes and their heating. However, the aforementioned measures are very complex and associated with sometimes considerable costs.
Due to their good material properties, the use of blades made from fiber composite reinforced materials is increasingly being considered. The fiber composite reinforced materials (fiber composites), in particular carbon fiber reinforced plastics have an extremely high tensile strength at the same time very low density, the ratio between the tensile strength and the density of relevant parameters for the mechanical load capacity of the blade. A disadvantage of the fiber composites, however, is their very low resistance to drop impact erosion. Even with a small drop of impact, the fiber composite reinforced materials cause considerable damage to the blades.
Based on the prior art, the invention is based on the object of forming a turbine blade, in particular an end-stage blade, which at least partially consists of a fiber composite material and which is permanently insensitive to erosion.
The object is solved by the features of independent claim 1.
Advantageous embodiments and developments, which are used individually or in combination with each other, are the subject of the dependent claims. The turbine blade according to the invention, which is designed for use in a low pressure stage of a steam turbine and at least partially contains fiber composite material, wherein at least the area containing the fiber composite material, at least partially coated with a protective layer, is characterized in that the protective layer consists of a material, whose elastic modulus (modulus of elasticity) is smaller than the modulus of elasticity of the fiber composite material. The modulus of elasticity describes the relationship between the change of stress to change the strain. E = dσ to dυ. Here σ denotes the mechanical stress (normal stress) and υ the strain. Elongation is the ratio of length change to original length. A component with a high modulus of elasticity is considered to be stiff, a component made of a material with a low modulus of elasticity as yielding. The advantage of a compliant material is that it can better absorb the energy of an impacting drop. When the protective layer of the turbine blade is made of a material having a lower modulus of elasticity than that of the fiber composite, the protective layer may better absorb the impact energy of the droplet and thus protect the underlying turbine blade material from damage due to drop erosion. The modulus of elasticity of a fiber composite material is not uniform, but varies depending on the pulling direction. When we speak below of the modulus of elasticity of the fiber composite material is meant the modulus of elasticity, which results in a tensile test perpendicular to the fibers of the fiber composite material.
A preferred embodiment of the invention provides that the Young's modulus of the protective layer is between 1 GPa and 10 -2 GPa. For higher moduli of elasticity, the material or the protective layer becomes too stiff, so that it can not absorb enough impact energy from the impacting droplets, so that the impact energy continues to cause rapid destruction of the turbine blade. On the other hand, with a modulus of elasticity lower than 10 -2 GPa, the protective layer is too yielding, which in turn absorbs too little impact energy and the turbine blades would not be sufficiently protected against drop impact erosion.
A particularly advantageous embodiment of the invention provides that the protective layer consists of a rubber-like, elastic or viscoelastic material, in particular of a rubber or a polyurethane. Gummy, elastic or viscoelastic materials have an E-modulus which is in the favorable range between 1 GPa and 10 -2 GPa. Thus, they provide optimal damping of the impact energy, resulting in an optimal protection against drop impact erosion.
A further advantageous embodiment of the invention provides that the protective layer is applied only on the erosionsbeanspruchten areas of the turbine blade. The most erosion-stressed areas of the turbine blade is the leading edge and at this particular the upper / outer third. Furthermore, the trailing edge of the blade, in particular the region close to the shaft (lower third of the trailing edge), is erosion-stressed. A protective layer in these areas thus largely protects the turbine blade against erosion damage. A complete coating of the turbine blade is not essential. This can save manufacturing and material costs.
A particularly advantageous embodiment of the invention provides that the protective layer is applied reinforced on the regions of the turbine blade which are subject to erosion. This results in a particularly durable protection by the protective layer in these areas.
A further advantageous embodiment of the invention provides that the protective layer consists of at least one film. By using films with a defined layer thicknesses, reproducible layer thicknesses of the protective layer can be ensured. The films can be prefabricated, so that the coating with the film is particularly easy.
A further particularly advantageous embodiment of the invention provides that the protective layer comprises at least one film which is impermeable to water. By using water-impermeable films, the matrix material can be protected against ingress of water. Fiber composites significantly lose their strength when the matrix material absorbs water. This can be prevented by the water-impermeable film.
Another particularly advantageous embodiment of the invention provides that the protective layer has a graduated layer structure with films of different hardness. In particular, a layer structure is suitable in which the film hardness increases from the outside to the turbine blade. The outer film of lesser hardness initially absorbs much of the impact energy of the droplet. The subsequent films can then have a greater hardness, since they only have to achieve a lower damping effect.
A further advantageous embodiment of the invention provides that the protective layer is made hydrophobic at least on the surface. The hydrophobic formation of the protective layer can prevent the water from penetrating into the protective layer and subsequently into the fiber composite material of the turbine blade.
The turbine blade according to the invention, comprising a fiber composite material comprising a matrix material and a fiber material, is further distinguished in a particular embodiment of the invention in that the matrix material is hydrophobic. This advantageously prevents the penetration of water or moisture into the matrix material if the protective layer is damaged or if the protective layer is only locally formed in the erosion-stressed areas.
A further advantageous embodiment of the invention provides that the fiber material is hydrophobic. This can be prevented that the fibers absorb moisture and thus weakened in their strength. This contributes to increased reliability of the turbine blade.
A particularly advantageous embodiment of the invention provides that the hydrophobic property is achieved or enhanced by the addition of nanoparticles. By adding suitable nanoparticles, an effect similar to that of a lotus leaf can be achieved.
