LCD-Monitore (LCD = Flüssigkristallanzeige) werden in vielen Bereichen eingesetzt, beispielsweise als bilderzeugende Mittel bei elektronischen Geräten (z. B. Computerbildschirmen). Auch in Kraftfahrzeugen finden sie als so genannte Mensch-Maschine-Schnittstellen (Human Machine Interfaces) für die Anzeige von Fahrzeuginformationen oder die Wiedergabe von Filmen oder anderen Unterhaltungsinhalten Verwendung. Bei den üblichen LCD-Monitoren wird ein LCD-Modul, also das bilderzeugende Bauteil, welches eine Lichtquelle, Polarisatoren und eine Flüssigkristallschicht umfasst, in einen Rahmen eingesetzt, der das LCD-Modul seitlich umgibt und darüber hinaus gegenüber der Ebene der bildererzeugenden Fläche erhaben ist, also bei Aufsicht auf die Frontfläche des LCD-Monitors dem Betrachter näher ist als die bilderzeugende Fläche selbst. Diese Erhebung ist bei der Verwendung eines LCD-Monitors in einem Kraftfahrzeug aus mehreren Gründen nachteilig. Zum einen kann die durch den Rahmen gebildete Erhebung bei seitlich einfallendem Licht zu Schlagschatten, und als Folge davon zu weiterführenden Reflexionen oder verschlechtertem Kontrastverhalten führen. Eine unter Fahrsicherheitsaspekten anzustrebende, möglichst störungsfreie Wiedergabe von Informationen ist somit nicht gewährleistet. Darüber hinaus bieten die Fugen, die zwischen dem erhabenen Rahmen und der tiefer liegenden bildgebenden Fläche liegen, Ablagestellen für Fremdpartikel, wie zum Beispiel Staub oder Schmutz, jedoch ebenso Feuchtigkeit usw., die sowohl die Qualität der Bildwiedergabe als auch den optischen Eindruck stören können. Weiterhin schränken die erhabenen Rahmen die Möglichkeiten einer ergonomischen oder auch ästhetischen Gestaltung beispielsweise einer Armaturenfläche eines Kraftfahrzeugs, die einen LCD-Monitor enthalten soll, ein. Unabhängig von den vorstehend beschriebenen Nachteilen stellen die im Stand der Technik verwendeten Rahmen Elemente dar, die das LCD-Modul U-förmig umfassen, wobei ein Schenkel des U-förmigen Elements den in der Aufsicht sichtbaren Rahmen darstellt, und der andere Schenkel sich (in der Aufsicht nicht sichtbar) unterhalb des Moduls befindet, womit das LCD-Modul zwischen den beiden Schenkeln des U-förmigen Elements eingespannt ist. Diese technische Lösung führt zu LCD-Monitoren mit hoher Einbautiefe, die den Gestaltungsspielraum bei der Konzeption eines Armaturenbrett deutlich begrenzt.LCD monitors (LCD = liquid crystal display) are used in many fields, for example as image-forming means in electronic devices (eg computer screens). Dabei wird auf den erhabenen Rahmen eine zusätzliche transparente Scheibe aufgelegt, die somit sowohl den Rahmen als auch die bildgebende Fläche überdeckt. Jedoch ist auch diese zusätzliche Scheibe von einem schmalen Rahmen auf gleicher Ebene umgeben und durch eine fühlbare Fuge von diesem getrennt. Darüber hinaus weist die zusätzliche transparente Scheibe einen deutlichen Abstand von der bildgebenden Fläche auf. Durch abstandsbedingte Weichzeichnereffekte treten dabei Qualitätsverluste bei der Wiedergabe der optische Information auf. Diese sind bei Computerbildschirmen vertretbar, da der Benutzer in einem für ihn optimierten Winkel und/oder Abstand vom Bildschirm sitzt, in der Regel konstante Umgebungslichtverhältnisse vorliegen und der Benutzer den Bildschirm so einrichten kann, dass für die gegebenen Lichtverhältnisse eine ausreichende Wiedergabe ermöglicht wird. Eine Übertragung dieser Lösung auf LCD-Monitore in Kraftfahrzeugen ist nicht möglich, da der Fahrer oder Benutzer in der Regel weiter vom LCD-Monitor entfernt ist als von einem Computerbildschirm, wodurch Weichzeichnereffekte stärkere Auswirkungen haben. Darüber hinaus ist ein LCD-Monitor in einem Fahrzeug üblicherweise schnellen und radikalen Wechseln der Umgebungslichtverhältnisse ausgesetzt, so dass eine von vorne herein suboptimale Wiedergabequalität verstärkt ins Gewicht fällt und mit Hinblick auf die Fahrsicherheit umso nachteiliger ist.From the prior art, a solution for avoiding raised elements on the front surface is known for computer screens in small-format laptops, so-called handheld laptops.
