Durch die Neigung der Gelenkwelle wird somit ein zusätzlicher Freiheitsgrad für die Positionierung der Hochdruckpumpe der Brennkraftmaschine geschaffen. Insbesondere kann durch die Auswahl des Winkels zwischen der Längsmittelachse der Gelenkwelle und der Längsmittelachse der Nockenwelle sowie durch die axiale Länge der Gelenkwelle eine große Vielfalt an zusätzlichen Möglichkeiten zur Positionierung der Hochdruckpumpe relativ zur Brennkraftmaschine geschaffen werden.
