To clean items to be washed, dishwashers run through washing programs that have a number of program steps. The respective rinsing program can in particular include the following individual program steps running one after the other: a pre-rinsing step for removing coarse soiling, a cleaning step with the addition of cleaning agent to liquid or water, an intermediate rinsing step, a final rinsing step with the application of liquid or water mixed with relaxants or rinse aid , as well as a final drying step in which the cleaned items are dried. Depending on the cleaning step or rinsing process of a selected dishwashing program, fresh water and/or process water mixed with detergent is applied to the items to be washed, for example for a cleaning process, for an intermediate rinse cycle, and/or for a final rinse process.
The outlet opening ALA is preferably arranged at a point above the base BO, which enables the collection or suction of as much hot-humid air LU as possible from the upper half of the washing container SPB into the air duct LK. After a cleaning process, in particular a final rinse process with heated liquid, hot, moist air preferably collects above the base BO, in particular in the upper half of the washing container SPB. The outlet opening ALA is preferably located at an altitude above the level of foam that can occur during regular flushing operations or in the event of a malfunction. In particular, foam can be caused by cleaning agents in the water during the cleaning process. On the other hand, the position of the exit point or outlet opening ALA is selected such that an increasing distance on the side wall SW is still freely available for the inlet-side pipe section RA1 of the air duct LK. The outlet opening or outlet opening in the middle area, ceiling area, and / or upper area of the side wall SW and / or rear wall RW of the washing container SPB also largely prevents water from the sump in the bottom of the washing container or from its liquid spray system through the outlet opening ALA of the Rinsing container SPB injected directly into the air duct LK and then into the sorption container SB, which could otherwise make its sorption material ZEO inadmissibly moist, partially damage it or make it unusable, or even completely destroy it.
In the sorption container SB, viewed in the direction of flow, at least one heating device HZ for desorption and thus regeneration of the sorption material ZEO is arranged in front of its sorption unit SE. The heating device HZ is used to heat air LU, which is driven through the air duct LK into the sorption container by means of the fan unit LT. This forced-heated air absorbs the stored moisture, in particular water, from the sorption material ZEO as it flows through the sorption material ZEO. This water expelled from the sorption material ZEO is transported into the interior of the rinsing container by the heated air via the outlet element AUS of the sorption container SB. This desorption process preferably takes place when liquid is used for a cleaning process or other rinsing process of a subsequent dishwashing program. The air heated by the heating device HZ for the desorption process can be used at the same time to heat the liquid in the rinsing container SPB, which saves energy.

Inside the curvature section KRA, one or more flow guide ribs or drainage ribs AR are provided, which follow its curvature. In the exemplary embodiment, a plurality of arcuate drain ribs AR are essentially nested concentrically one inside the other and arranged at a transverse distance from one another in the interior of the curved section KRA. In the exemplary embodiment, they also extend over a partial length into the rising pipe section AU and into the falling pipe section AB. These drain ribs AR are arranged in height positions above the outlet ALA of the washing container SPB or the inlet EI of the inlet-side pipe section RA1 of the air duct LK. These drainage ribs AR serve to absorb liquid droplets and/or condensate from the air flow LS1 sucked in from the rinsing container SPB. In the section area of the upwardly rising pipe section AU, the liquid droplets collected on the flow guide ribs AR can drip in the direction of the outlet ALA. In the area of the downwardly sloping pipe section AB, the liquid droplets can drip from the flow guide ribs AR in the direction of a return rib RR. The return rib RR is provided at a point inside the sloping pipe section AB, which is higher than the outlet opening ALA of the washing container SPB or which is higher than the inlet opening EI of the air duct LK. The return rib RR in the interior of the sloping pipe section AB forms a drainage slope and is aligned with a cross-connection line RF in the direction of the outlet ALA of the rinsing container SPB. The cross-connection line RF bridges the gap between the leg of the upwardly rising pipe section AU and the leg of the downwardly descending pipe section AB. The cross-connection line RF connects the interior of the upwardly rising pipe section AU and the interior of the downwardly descending pipe section AB with one another. The gradient of the return rib RR and the adjoining, aligned cross-connection line RF is selected such that condensate return of condensate water or other liquid droplets that drip down from the drain ribs AR in the area of the sloping pipe section AB into the outlet opening ALA of the washing container SPB is ensured.
The drain ribs AR are preferably attached to the inner wall of the air duct LK facing away from the washing container side wall SW, since this outside inner wall of the air duct is cooler than the inner wall of the air duct facing the washing container SPB. Condensation forms more heavily on this cooler inner wall than on the inner wall of the air duct LK facing the side wall SW. It can therefore be sufficient if the drain ribs AR are designed as web elements which protrude from the outer inner wall of the air duct LK only over a partial width of the total cross-sectional width of the air duct designed as a flat channel in the direction of the inner inner wall of the air duct facing the side wall SW, so that a lateral cross-sectional gap remains for air to flow through. If necessary, it can also be expedient to design the drain ribs AR continuously between the outer inner wall and the inner inner wall of the air duct LK. This achieves a more targeted air flow, particularly in the curved section KRA. Disturbing air turbulence is largely avoided. In this way, a desired volume of air can be conveyed through the ventilation duct LK, which is designed as a flat channel.
The return rib RR is preferably attached on the inside to the outer inner wall of the air duct LK as a web element, which projects over a partial width or part of the total width of the flat air duct LK in the direction of its inner inner wall. This ensures that a sufficient passage cross section remains free in the area of the return rib RR for the air flow LS1 to flow through. Alternatively, it can of course also be expedient to provide the return rib RR as a continuous element between the outside inner wall and the inside inner wall of the air duct LK and to provide, in particular, centrally located passage openings for the passage of air.
The drain ribs AR and the return rib RR also serve in particular to separate water droplets, detergent droplets, rinse aid droplets, and/or other aerosols that are in the incoming air LS1 and to return them through the outlet opening ALA into the washing container SPB. This is particularly advantageous liable during a desorption process if a cleaning step takes place at the same time. During this cleaning step, there can be a relatively large amount of steam or mist in the rinsing container SPB, in particular due to the spraying of liquid by means of the spray arms SA. Such steam or mist can contain finely divided water as well as cleaning agents or rinse aid and other cleaning substances. The drain ribs AR form a separation device for these finely dispersed liquid particles carried in the air flow LS1. Instead of drainage ribs AR, other separation means, in particular structures with a large number of edges such as wire mesh, can alternatively be provided in an advantageous manner.
In particular, the pipe section AU, which rises obliquely upwards or essentially vertically, ensures that liquid droplets or even spray jets, which are sprayed out by a spray device SA, such as a spray arm during the cleaning process or other rinsing process, are largely prevented from passing directly over the sucked in Air flow LS1 to get into the sorption material of the sorption container. Without this retention or separation of liquid droplets, in particular mist droplets or vapor droplets, the sorption material ZEO could become inadmissibly moist and unusable for a sorption process in the drying step. In particular, premature saturation could occur due to introduced liquid droplets such as mist droplets or vapor droplets. Due to the inlet-side, ascending branch AU of the feedthrough channel and the one or more separation or interception elements in the upper knee area or apex region of the curved section KRA between the ascending branch AU and the descending branch AB of the feedthrough channel, it is also largely avoided that cleaning agent droplets, Rinse aid droplets and/or other aerosol droplets can reach beyond this barrier further down to the fan LT and from there into the sorption container SB. Of course, it is also possible to provide a differently designed barrier device with the same function instead of the combination of rising pipe section AU and descending pipe section AB and instead of the one or more separation elements.

In summary, the dishwasher GS here in the exemplary embodiment has a drying device for drying items to be washed by sorption using reversibly dehydratable sorption material ZEO, which is stored in a sorption container SE. This is connected to the rinsing container SPB via at least one air duct LK to generate an air flow LS1. The air duct has a substantially flat rectangular cross-sectional geometry along its inlet-side pipe section RA1. Viewed in the direction of flow, the air duct merges into a substantially cylindrical pipe section VA after its inlet-side pipe section RA1. It is preferably made of at least one plastic material. It is arranged in particular between a side wall SW and/or rear wall RW of the washing container and an outer housing wall of the dishwasher. The air duct LK has at least one pipe section AU that rises upwards. It extends upwards from the outlet opening ALA of the washing container SPB. Viewed in the direction of flow, it also has at least one downwardly sloping pipe section AB after the rising pipe section AU. At least one curved section KRA is provided between the rising pipe section AU and the falling pipe section AB. The curved section KRA in particular has a larger cross-sectional area than the rising pipe section AU and/or the descending pipe section AB. Inside the curved section KRA, one or more flow guide ribs AR are provided to even out the air flow LS1. At least one of the flow guide ribs AR possibly extends beyond the curved section KRA into the rising pipe section AU and/or descending pipe section AB. The one or more flow guide ribs AR are provided in positions above the height position of the outlet ALA of the washing container SPB. In general terms, the housing of the sorption container SB has such a geometric shape that there is a sufficient gap distance around the remaining parts or components of the base assembly BG as heat protection. For example, for this purpose, the sorption container SB has a curved shape AF on its housing wall SW2 facing the rear wall RW of the base assembly BG, which corresponds to the geometric shape of the rear wall RW facing it.
Through the slotted plate SK, flow conditioning or flow influencing of the flow LS2 rising from bottom to top in the flow direction DSR is carried out in such a way that the pipe coil heater is flowed around with essentially the same air volume flow at every point along its longitudinal course. The combination of slotted plate and pipe coil heater HZ arranged above it largely ensures that the air flow LS2 in front of the inlet surface of the lower sieve element US of the sorption unit SE can be heated largely evenly during the desorption process. The slotted plate ensures a largely uniform local distribution of the heated air volume flow across the inlet cross-sectional area STF of the sorption unit SE.
In addition to or independently of the slotted plate SK, it may also be appropriate to provide a heating device outside the sorption container BE in the connecting section between the fan unit LT and the inlet opening of the sorption container SB. Since the average cross-sectional area of this tubular connecting section VA is smaller than the average cross-sectional area of the sorption container SB for an air flow, the air flow LS1 can be heated largely uniformly in advance for the desorption process before it enters the sorption container SB. Then, if necessary, the slotted sheet SK can be completely omitted.
In particular, if the air is heated by means of a heating device in the sorption container SB, it may also be expedient to provide at least one flow conditioning element both before and after the heating device HZ, viewed in the flow direction DSR of the sorption container SB, in such a way that the volume of sorption material ZEO is behind The inlet cross-sectional area SDF of the lower sieve element US can be flowed through with approximately the same air volume flow at every point. This largely ensures that all sorption material is largely completely involved in the dehumidification of the air flowing through LS1, particularly during the sorption process during which the heating device HZ is deactivated, i.e. switched off. In an analogous manner, during the desorption process, in which the air flowing through LS2 is heated by the heating device HZ, water stored in the space between the two sieve elements US, OS is caused to emerge again from all the sorption material, so that the sorption material ZEO essentially completely dried and thus regenerated can be made available for a subsequent drying process.
The flow cross-sectional area SDF of the sorption unit SE in the interior of the sorption container SB is here in the exemplary embodiment larger than the average cross-sectional area of the end inlet connection ES of the air duct LK or the tubular connecting section VA. The flow cross-sectional area SDF of the sorption material is preferably between 2 and 40 times, in particular between 4 and 30 times, preferably between 5 and 25 times, larger than the average cross-sectional area of the inlet connection ES of the air duct LK, with which it opens into the inlet opening EO of the sorption container SB.
In summary, the sorption material ZEO fills a bulk volume between the lower sieve element US and the upper sieve element OS in such a way that the flow inlet cross-sectional area SDF and a flow outlet cross-sectional area SAF are essentially perpendicular to the flow direction DSR, which runs in the vertical direction. The lower sieve element US, the upper sieve element OS and the sorption material ZEO embedded in between each have mutually congruent penetration surfaces for the air LS2 flowing through. This largely ensures that the same volume flow can be applied to the sorption material at every point in the volume of the sorption unit SE. This largely avoids overheating points during desorption and thus any damage to the sorption material ZEO. During sorption, uniform moisture absorption from the air to be dried is made possible, thus enabling optimal utilization of the ZEO sorption material provided in the SE sorption unit.
In general terms, it may be expedient to provide one or more flow conditioning elements SK in the sorption container SB and/or in an inlet-side pipe section VA, ES of the air duct LK, in particular after at least one fan unit LT inserted into the air duct LK, with one or more air passages SL, that an equalization of the local flow cross-sectional profile of the air flow LS2 is effected when flowing through the sorption container SB in its flow direction DSR directed from bottom to top. Viewed in the flow direction DSR of the sorption container SB, at least one flow conditioning element SK is provided in its lower cavity UH with a height distance in front of the heating device HZ. A slotted plate or perforated plate is provided here as the flow conditioning element SK in the exemplary embodiment. The slots SL in the slotted sheet SK essentially follow the course of the windings of a pipe coil heater HZ, which is positioned as a heating device with a free space above the slots SL in the slotted sheet. The slotted plate is arranged essentially parallel and at a clearance distance from the air inlet cross-sectional area SDF of the sorption unit SE of the sorption container SE. Air passages, in particular slots SL, in the flow conditioning element SK are designed to be larger at those locations where the air flow LS1 entering the sorption container SB has a lower speed in the flow direction DSR of the sorption container SB than at those locations where the air flow entering the sorption container SB Air flow LS1 in the flow direction DSR of the sorption container SB has a greater speed.
In summary, the sorting drying system TS has the following specific flow conditions in the area of the sorption container SB. The exit flow direction of the air flow LS2 emerging from the sorption container SB essentially corresponds to the flow direction DSR. The inlet-side pipe section RA1 of the air duct LK opens into the sorption container SB in such a way that its inflow direction ESR is deflected into the flow direction DSR of the sorption container SB, in particular between 45 ° and 135 °, preferably by approximately 90 °. Viewed in the flow direction, in front of the sorption container SB, at least the fan unit LT is inserted into the inlet-side pipe section RA1 of the air duct LK to generate a forced air flow LS1 in the direction of at least one inlet opening EO of the sorption container SB. The fan unit LT is arranged in the floor assembly BG below the washing container SPB. The flow cross-sectional area SDF for the sorption material ZEO in the interior of the sorption container SB is larger than the passage cross-sectional area of the inlet connection ES of the air duct LK, with which it opens into the inlet opening EO of the sorption container SB. The flow cross-sectional area SDF of the sorption container SB is preferably between 2 and 40 times, in particular between 4 and 30 times, preferably between 5 and 25 times larger than the flow cross-sectional area of the end inlet connection ES of the air duct LK, with which it opens into the inlet opening EO of the sorption container SB. At least one sorption unit SE with sorption material ZEO is accommodated in the sorption container in such a way that air LS1 can flow through the sorption material ZEO essentially in or against the direction of gravity, which is guided via the air duct LK from the rinsing container SPB into the sorption container SB. It has at least one heating device HZ in its lower cavity UH. The sorption container SE has at least one upper cavity OH for collecting outflowing air LS2 above its sorption unit SE. The sorption material ZEO fills a bulk volume in the sorption unit SE of the sorption container SB in such a way that a flow inlet cross-sectional area SDF arranged essentially perpendicular to the flow direction DSR and a flow outlet cross-sectional area SAF arranged largely parallel thereto are formed. The sorption container has in its upper ceiling part DEL at least one outflow opening AO, which is connected via a through opening DG in the bottom BO of the rinsing container SPB to its interior with the aid of at least one outflow component AKT.
The sorption material ZEO is advantageously stored in the sorption container SB in the form of the sorption unit SE in such a way that essentially every entry point of the passage cross-sectional area SDF of the sorption unit SE can be acted upon with a substantially equal air volume flow value. The sorption material ZEO is preferably a reversibly dehydratable material containing aluminum and/or silicon oxide, silica gel, and/or zeolite, in particular zeolite of type A, X, Y alone or in any combination. The sorption material is expediently provided as a bed in the sorption container SB in the form of a granular solid or granulate with a large number of particle bodies with a grain size essentially between 1 and 6 mm, in particular between 2.4 and 4.8 mm, the bed height being H the particle body corresponds to at least 5 times their grain size. The sorption material ZEO, which is present as a granular solid or granulate, is expediently present in the direction of gravity in the sorption container with a filling height which is essentially 5 to 40 times, in particular 10 to 15 times, the particle size of the granular solid or granulate. The pouring height H of the sorption material ZEO is preferably chosen essentially between 1.5 and 25 cm, in particular between 2 and 8 cm, preferably between 4 and 6 cm. In the sorption container SB, the reversibly dehydratable sorption material ZEO for absorbing an amount of moisture transported in the air flow LS2 is expediently provided with such an amount by weight that the amount of moisture absorbed by the sorption material ZEO is less than an amount of liquid applied to the items to be washed, in particular an amount of liquid applied in the final rinse step, is.
In particular, it may be expedient if the reversibly dehydratable sorption material is provided in the sorption container SB with such an amount by weight that it is sufficient to absorb an amount of moisture which essentially corresponds to a wetting amount with which the items to be washed are wetted after the end of a final rinse step. The amount of water absorbed preferably corresponds to between 4 and 25%, in particular between 5 and 15%, of the amount of liquid applied to the items to be washed.
Appropriately, an amount by weight of essentially between 0.2 and 5 kg, in particular between 0.3 and 3 kg, preferably between 0.5 and 2.5 kg, of sorption material ZEO is accommodated in the sorption container SB.
The sorption material ZEO in particular has pores preferably with a size essentially between 1 and 12 angstroms, in particular between 2 and 10, preferably between 3 and 8 angstroms.

The air duct, the sorption container, and/or one or more additional flow influencing elements are expediently designed in such a way that an air flow with a volume flow essentially between 2 and 15 I/sec, in particular between 4 and 7, is created through the sorption material for its sorption and/or desorption I/sec can be achieved.
It can be particularly useful if at least one heating device HZ is assigned to the sorption material ZEO, with which an equivalent heating power between 250 to 2500 W, in particular between 1000 and 1800 W, preferably between 1200 and 1500 W, can be provided for heating the sorption material for its desorption is.
Preferably, the ratio of the heating power of at least one heating device, which is assigned to the sorption material for its desorption, and the air volume flow of the air flow that flows through the sorption material, is between 100 and 1250 W sec/I, in particular between 100 and 450 W sec/I, preferably between 200 and 230 W sec/I, selected.
In the sorption container, a passage cross-sectional area essentially between 80 and 800 cm 2 , in particular between 150 and 500 cm 2 , is preferably provided for the sorption material.
Zweckmäßigerweise ist die Schütthöhe H des Sorptionsmaterials ZEO über die Eintrittsquerschnittsfläche SDF des Sorptionsbehälters SB im Wesentlichen konstant. The filling height H of the sorption material ZEO is expediently essentially constant over the inlet cross-sectional area SDF of the sorption container SB.

The largely freely hanging suspension of the sorption container, in particular below the bottom BO of the rinsing container SPB, can also serve as a thermal overheating protection device.
The thermal overheating protection device can further include a storage of the sorption container SB such that the sorption container SB has a predetermined minimum gap distance LSP compared to adjacent components and / or parts of a base assembly BG.

The outflow element AUS, which is attached to the sorption container SB on the outlet side and projects into the interior of the washing container SPB, is therefore expediently designed in such a way that the air flow LS2 emerging from it is directed away from the spray arm SA. In particular, the outflowing air flow LS2 is directed into a rear or rear corner area between the rear wall RW and the adjacent side wall SW of the washing container. In this way, it is largely avoided that splash water or foam can get into the interior of the sorption container through the opening of the outflow nozzle during the cleaning process or other rinsing process. This could impair or completely destroy the desorption process. In addition, sorbent material could be permanently damaged by rinsing liquid. Extensive tests have shown that the functionality of the sorption material in the sorption container can be largely maintained or preserved over the lifespan of the dishwasher if it is reliably prevented that no water, cleaning agents or rinse aid in the washing water can get into the sorption material.
In summary, at least one outflow device AUS, which is connected to at least one outflow opening AO of the sorption container SB, is arranged inside the rinsing container SPB in such a way that the air LS2 blown out from it is largely directed away from at least one spray device SA housed in the rinsing container SPB. The outflow device AUS is arranged outside the working area of the spray device SA. The spray device can be, for example, a rotating spray arm SA. The outflow device AUS is preferably provided in a rear corner region EBR between the rear wall RW and an adjacent side wall SW of the washing container SPB. The outflow device AUS in particular has a blow-out opening ABO with a height distance HO above the bottom BO of the washing container SPB, which is higher than the level of a target total amount of washing bath intended for a washing process. The outflow device AUS includes an outflow nozzle AKT and a splash protection hood SH. The splash guard SH has a geometric shape that slips over the blow-out opening ABO of the outflow nozzle AKT. The splash protection hood SH is placed over the outflow connection AKT in such a way that air flowing up through the outflow connection AKT from the sorption container SB with an ascending flow direction can be imprinted with a downward-pointing forced flow path ALS after it emerges from the blow-out opening ABO of the outflow connection AKT. The outflow nozzle AKT, which projects upwards above the bottom BO of the washing container SPB, is coupled to the connecting piece STE on the cover part DEL of the sorption container SB arranged under the bottom BO. The spray protection hood SH is designed to be closed on the top and bottom in its housing area GF facing the spray device SA. The splash guard SH covers the blow-out opening ABO of the outflow nozzle AKT with an upper clearance. The outflow connection AKT has an upper, outwardly curved edge or all-round collar KR. The splash guard SH encloses an upper end section of the outflow nozzle AKT in such a way that a gap space SPF is formed between its inner wall and the outer wall of the outflow nozzle AKT. The gap clearance SPF between the splash guard SH and the outflow nozzle AKT is designed in such a way that an air outflow path ALS is provided from the outflow nozzle AKT, which is directed away from the spray device SA in the washing container SB. A splash water repellent element PB protruding into the gap space SPF is provided on the outflow connection AKT. A lower edge zone UR of the splash guard SH is curved inwards. The spray protection hood SH has such a rounded outer surface that it allows an incident spray jet from the spray device SA to pour over its surface in a film-like manner.
As soon as a cleaning process is started, the main control device HE simultaneously switches on the additional control device ZE via the bus line BUL in such a way that an electrical voltage is applied to the pole pins AP1, AP2 of the heating device HZ via the power connecting line SZL. As soon as a certain predetermined upper temperature limit is reached in the interior of the washing container SPB, which the main control device HE can determine via the measurement signals from the temperature sensor, it can give the additional control device ZE the instruction via the bus line BUL to remove the voltage on the power supply line SZL and thereby the heating device HZ turn off completely. This can be used, for example, to end the desorption process for the sorption material in the sorption container.
In
In particular, a first selection button for selecting a program variant “energy” or “sorption mode” can be provided in the control panel of the dishwasher. This program focuses on saving energy. This is achieved by not using a continuous-flow heater during the final rinsing process and drying the items to be washed, especially the dishes, is carried out solely with the help of the sorption drying system TS.
In addition to pure sorption drying, it may be particularly useful to heat the interior of the washing container using heated final rinse liquid during the final rinse process. It may advantageously be sufficient if the heat transfer caused by the final rinsing process to the items to be dried takes place with less energy input than in the case without sorption drying. The sorption drying system now used makes it possible to save electrical heating energy by sorbing air moisture. So it can go through both So-called “intrinsic heat drying” as well as sorption drying, i.e. through a combination or addition of both types of drying, improved drying of wet or damp items can be achieved.
In addition to or independently of the “Energy” button, another “drying performance” button can be provided in the dishwasher control panel, which increases the fan running time of the fan unit. This allows improved drying of all tableware items to be achieved.
In addition to or independently of the special keys above, a further “program runtime” key can be provided. If the sorption drying system is switched on, the program running time can be reduced compared to conventional drying systems (without sorption drying). If necessary, the running time during cleaning can be further shortened by additional heating in the cleaning phase and optionally by increasing the spray pressure by increasing the motor speed of the circulation pump. Furthermore, the drying time can be further shortened by increasing the final rinse temperature.
In addition to or independently of the previous specific buttons, an actuation button with the function “influencing the cleaning performance” can be provided. By pressing this button, the cleaning performance can be increased while maintaining the same running time, without increasing energy consumption compared to a dishwasher without a sorption drying system. Because the sorption process is started at the same time during the cleaning process and hot air, which is loaded with an amount of water that has escaped from the sorption material, reaches the rinsing container, heating energy for heating up a desired total amount of rinsing bath liquid can be saved.
