Abstract
Description
The The invention relates to a method for coating surfaces of plastic substrates or surfaces of substrates with plastic layers with a light protection coating, the sunscreen coating itself as well as the use of the light protection coating on plastic glasses, Foils, and / or containers.
Mittels Plasmatechnologie kann ein Substrat, z. B. Polycarbonat, mit der Hilfe von Niederdruckplasmatechnologie unter Einwirkung von Reaktionsgasen beschichtet bzw. abgetragen werden.through Plasma technology can be a substrate, e.g. As polycarbonate, with the Help of low-pressure plasma technology under the influence of reaction gases be coated or removed.
For this a reactive gas is introduced into an already evacuated process chamber. By applying an electromagnetic field are in the molecules or atoms of the reactive gas electrons from the outermost Electron shell separated. If the pressure in the process chamber sufficiently low and thus the free wavelength of Particles can be large enough a sufficient acceleration voltage due to their low Mass of easily moving electrons have enough energy absorb more gas particles by inelastic collisions to ionize, fragment and excite. The by ionization released electrons are in turn in the electromagnetic Field accelerates and ionizes other gas particles. To this Way, the number of charge carriers grows in the shortest time Time exponentially and the plasma ignites under one characteristic luminous appearance, which depends on the energy output attributed to excited molecules and atoms is.

erreichen.
By The plasma process can be applied to the surface of the to be treated substrates depending on the gas used, pressure and excitation frequency of the applied electromagnetic field, the surfaces of Impurities freed, the topography of the surface changed (plasma etching) and / or near-surface Molecules of the substrate by cross-linking, branching or Addition of new chemical functionalities be modified and / or in the plasma polymerizations or others Reactions are brought about, with the polymers or other reaction products on the substrate. By such Method is possible, the properties of the substrate close to the surface without thermally changing the substrate or mechanically stress.

One Another area of application of the Plamatechnologie is the application of layers, for example light protection coatings. highly transparent Polymers are gaining in many fields of optics and optoelectronics, but also in medical technology as well as in many other industrial sectors as the vehicle technology increasingly important. The substitution of glass as a traditional material for optical applications takes place for reasons of weight savings, breakage as well as a variable coloring. In particular, spectacle lenses made of plastic now have a very large market share. Here are often additionally sunscreen coatings needed. The methods known in the art for the production of sunscreen coatings, however, are expensive produce, expensive, harmful to the environment and / or the manufactured Sunscreen coatings have poor mechanical stability on.

The UV / VIS spectra of coated plastic substrate samples show that the plasma treatment with natural gas as a reactive gas in low pressure, preferably 0.01 mbar to 1 mbar, a preferably transparent light protection coating can be generated, which is an absorption of UV radiation and also the short-wave visible light, preferably in the area from 400 to 500 nm. Nach Erreichen des Enddrucks wurde das Reaktivgas eingeleitet.transparent Sample material (10 cm × 4 cm × 5 mm) of different Plastics or glass were on a substrate carrier made of stainless steel and placed in the process chamber of the plasma coating apparatus Tetra 30 LF PC from Diener electronic inserted. After closing the door became the process chamber with the aid of a dry running vacuum pump to an evacuation pressure of Evacuated 0.2 mbar. After reaching the final pressure, the reactive gas initiated.
Zur Erzeugung der Lichtschutzbeschichtung wurde als Reaktivgas Erdgas verwendet, welches zum größten Teil aus Methan bestand (CH4 = 97,67 mol-%, C2H6 = 0,96 mol-%, N2 = 0,85 mol-%, C3H8 = 0,29 mol-%, CO2 = 0,10 mol-%, i-C4H10 = 0,05 mol-%, n-C4H10 = 0,05 mol-%, i-C5H12 = 0,01 mol-%, n-C5H12 = 0,01 mol-%, C6H14 = 0,01 mol-%, O2 = weniger als 0,01 mol-%, bezogen auf die Gesamtmenge Erdgas).Natural gas was used as the reactive gas for producing the light protective coating, which consisted for the most part of methane (CH 4 = 97.67 mol%, C 2 H 6 = 0.96 mol%, N 2 = 0.85 mol%, C 3 H 8 = 0.29 mol%, CO 2 = 0.10 mol%, iC 4 H 10 = 0.05 mol%, nC 4 H 10 = 0.05 mol%, iC 5 H 12 = 0.01 mol%, nC 5 H 12 = 0.01 mol%, C 6 H 14 = 0.01 mol%, O 2 = less than 0.01 mol%, based on the total amount of natural gas) ,
With Help of the incoming reactive gas was in the process chamber a target pressure of 0.5 mbar is generated by controlling the gas over a mass flow controller operating within a range of 1 to 200 sccm can be controlled by computer, was dosed. The gas flow was 25 sccm.
Die Plasmabehandlung wurde 30 min durchgeführt.the Plasma process was continuously fed fresh reactive gas and sucked off polluted gas. The actual treatment process was with the coupling of the electromagnetic field and the ionization of the reactive gas to a plasma started. The plasma excitation took place with a frequency of 40 kHz with a generator power of 1000 Watt. The plasma treatment was carried out for 30 minutes.
In the plasma coating apparatus Tetra 30 LF PC Fa. Ie. all the sides facing the electrode were filled with the plasma and thus with the reactive ions, radicals and electrons of the Exposed to reactive gases.
To switching off the 40 kHz generator was the plasma treatment and thus all chemical and physical processes finished. The Process chamber was rinsed with the reactive gas for 10 seconds. After the one-minute ventilation of the process chamber The process chamber was equipped with ambient air via a solenoid valve vented and removed the treated samples.

Beispiel 2Example 2
Beispiel
2 wurde wie Beispiel 1 durchgeführt. Bei den Polycarbonatproben
wurden die Plasmaparameter wie z. B. Soll-Druck, Generatorleistung,
Gasfluss, und Behandlungsdauer variiert. Der Abstand des Probenblechs
zur Plasmaelektrode betrug 5 cm wie in Beispiel 1. Ebenso war das
Reaktivgas (Erdgas) identisch. Die Fließgeschwindigkeit
des Reaktivgases wurde auf 9 sccm bzw. 19 sccm eingestellt. Die
Generatorleistung betrug 25 bzw.
Example 3 was carried out analogously to Example 1. However, there have been different reactive gases (CH 4, 50 mole% CH 4/50-mole O 2; 50 mol -CH 4% / 50 mol% argon, based on the respective reactive gas amount) is used.
The Treatment was carried out at a power of 1000 W (100%), for a duration of 30 minutes at a pressure of 0.35 mbar. The treatment with pure natural gas produced a sunscreen coating with the most effective absorption.

The Layer applied to the Plexiglas can be achieved by using water or by solvent dissolution (acetone) or intensive mechanical processing with a cloth not removed become. The original known mechanical properties of the substrate are not affected during the process. The geometric shape of the sample substrate remains due to the low Treatment temperatures (T below 70 ° C) received.
Beispiel 5Example 5
Analog zu Beispiel 1 wurde eine Lichtschutzbeschichtung auf Glas, Polycarbonat, Polystyrol, Polyethylen und Polyethylenterephthalat aufgebracht. Analogous Example 1 was a light-protective coating on glass, polycarbonate, Polystyrene, polyethylene and polyethylene terephthalate applied.
Hierbei
wurden folgende Ergebnisse erhalten:
Beispiel 6Example 6
Without wanting to be tied to a theory, it is assumed that the applied layer is a graphite layer is.
Die
Entstehung diese Rußpartikel beruht auf folgender Reaktion:
Beim
This proves that it is a very similar chemical Composition must act.
Further showed the reactor wall of the process chamber after a long-lasting Coating with low-pressure plasma from natural gas a metallic Shine on, as is typical of graphite. When comparing an EDX analysis of an untreated glass sample and one with the coated protective coating according to the invention Glass sample became an additional in the coated glass sample Carbon peak detected. The EDX analysis was done with the device Quants 200 recorded by the company FEI.
These Experiments clearly indicate a sunscreen coating, which contains graphite.
Vergleichsversuch 7Comparative experiment 7
Analog
In summary can be found that, surprisingly when using a generator frequency in the kHz range, in particular 40 kHz, without changing the substrate properties mechanically stable sunscreen can be generated, which in the UV range and in the short-wave visible light range radiation absorbed. In particular, the generator frequency of 40 kHz allows the introduction of several electrodes in a process chamber, so that the number of products to be treated per batch operation can be increased enormously. The invention Procedure allows the application of a complete UV protective coating or a UV protective coating that provides a complete Protection against UV light causes. The use of the low-priced Natural gas enables cost-effective production the UV protective coating. Furthermore arise in this process no Waste. The vacuum system technology also becomes the substrate thermally protected. The method also requires no toxic UV-absorbing compounds.
