Abstract

The sensor has a substrate (4) with patterning of electrodes deposited on a front side and a back side of the substrate. A drive unit (6) supplies drive signals to electrodes on the front side of the substrate. A sense unit senses signals from the electrodes on the rear side of the substrate. A sensor controller (10) is coupled to the drive unit and the sense unit. The sensor controller controls the operation of the drive and sense units. A shorting connection is configured to connect between two locations on the electrodes. An independent claim is also included for an apparatus comprising a control panel.
