Abstract

The engine has two cylinder groups combined to two cylinder banks (2, 3), where one of exhaust-gas turbochargers (4, 5) is assigned to the cylinder groups. The cylinder bank (3) is switchable in operation or operatable in a partial-load area. The exhaust-gas turbochargers are connected at a side of a turbine by an exhaust-gas connection line (6). The exhaust gas stream of the cylinder bank (2) of the two exhaust-gas turbochargers is supplied by the exhaust-gas connection line in a switched condition and/or partial loading area of one of the cylinder banks (3). An independent claim is also included for a method of operating an internal combustion engine.
