Abstract

A multi-component mold (1) and separator (2) are used. The closed mold forms a cavity holding a soft, resilient mass. This separated by the separator, into strip form. The separator has a film-like wall. The separator (2) for the mass is arranged in an approximately spiral shape, forming a wall-like intermediate space. It is located in a groove in one part (4) of the mold. When the mold is closed, the film extends through the cavity, resting on the other part (3) of the mold. One part (3) of the mold is dish-like, with a recess (5) for the mass. A core (6) forming the mass, is included on one part (3). An annular carrier surrounds the core. A face separator made from a film or paper is provided on one (flat internal) wall of the mold. Centering pegs (10) and corresponding holes (13) locate the mold halves. Adhesion forces between mass and separators is are than the cohesion forces of the mass itself. The mold is only filled to about 80% by the mass. The hardened mass with its embedded separator (2) and carrier, is taken from the mold.
