Abstract

The device has an inductor (L) between a high-side switch (HS) and a low-side switch (LS), and a test circuit comprising a resistance network (R3), which is connected with the inductor and a ground. The test circuit has a potential switchable by a switch. A control circuit is configured in such a manner that a voltage is drawn through the resistance network (R3) for testing short-circuits, where the control circuit opens the switches (HS, LS) and opens or closes a transistor (T1). An independent claim is also included for a method for monitoring an ignition circuit of an electromagnetic actuating unit.
