  • The publication DE 697 11 819 T2 describes an instrument cluster with two display areas, in which the driver can change the individual elements of the instrument cluster in the state of the vehicle and so can make the presentation of the instrument cluster according to his wishes. In this case, the individual elements are freely combinable and changeable, according to legal requirements certain information must be displayed in the instrument cluster, such as the speed.   • In the publication DE 102 97 674 T5 describes a system in which the operating modes of the vehicle changed and thus intervene in suspension tuning and engine tuning. As a function of the selected operating mode, the presentation of the display in the instrument cluster is changed, whereby the information content of the combination instrument changes with the different operating modes.   • The publication DE 43 07 367 A1 relates to a display and control device, in particular for motor vehicles, with a screen, with at least one operating element for selecting a function as well as a computer having state information providing means to enable an individual display of various state information. For this purpose, it is provided that the screen has an area in which a selected via operating elements, freely selectable state information can be displayed in different form selectable by the operator.
  • A disadvantage of the known instrument cluster, including the programmable instrument cluster, is that the appearance of such instrument cluster is fixed, even if the presentation of individual displays of a combination instrument, such as the navigation display, changes by changing menu and / or display levels. The basic design and design of these instrument clusters is fixed and can not be changed by the user, generally the driver.
  • The invention is therefore an object of the invention to provide a combination instrument with a changeable appearance.
  • This object is achieved by an instrument cluster with the features of claim 1. Preferred embodiments of the invention are subject of the dependent claims.

  • Preferably, the graphical representation of the instrument cluster display elements whose appearance or appearance and design is variable by the selection device.
