Abstract

The system incorporates a common rail fuel injection circuit (12) with a fuel tank low-pressure and high-pressure pumps and a high-pressure reservoir supplying fuel to the injectors. A pressure sensor (10) responds rapidly to changes of pressure (Raildruckverlauf) in the common rail. The pressure signal is sampled (Abtastung) and values are passed through a neural net (9b). The injectors and the net are connected (Menge) to an output (11) showing the amount of fuel injected (Einspritzverlauf). The neural net uses a training algorithm to optimize its topology and its performance.
