Abstract

Device for driving a measurement spindle (4), especially of a rotation viscometer and for measuring a torque applied to the spindle. The spindle is connected to an electrically conducting eddy current body (5). Permanent magnets (13) associated with the eddy current body form part of the rotor of the motor drive for the spindle and rotate in a plane parallel to the eddy current body. Thus the torque eddy current generated torque is proportional to the difference between the angular velocities of the permanent magnets and eddy current body.
