Abstract

Welding seam between a thick-walled component (1) and a thin-walled component (3) is preceded by surface preparation of the work pieces (21) in the vicinity of the butt join. The welding seam (15) extends through the depth of the thin-walled component (1). In the vicinity of the weld, the thicker component may have a weld interface that is thicker or thinner than that of the thin-walled workpiece. Also claimed is an automotive high-pressure fuel pump (1) with a thin-walled cover (3). The weld seam is located between the cover (3) and pump housing (1).
