Abstract
Description
The invention relates to methods and devices for over carrying data packets between a mobile station and an egg nem first packet-switched multimedia communication network and between the mobile station and a second packet mean (accessible via an Internet service provider ISP Chen) communication network.
Cellular networks are, for example, from the book "Cellular and intelligent networks ", JACEK BIALA, Vieweg-Verlag, ISBN 3- 528-15302-4 known to those skilled in the art. Furthermore, the expert is knows that for planned UMTS mobile radio networks (standard 3GPP R2000) through an internet protocol multimedia subsystem (IMSS) the possibility is created to voice data (voice) and multimedia data via an internet protocol Packet data transport up to a mobile station (MS) wear. On the part of a mobile subscriber, this can be done in addition to one for communication over the air interface too permanent mobile station (MS) for applications above the Terminal equipment (TE) responsible for the Internet protocol to be seen. Support can only be problematic for one person Internet address or / and only one PDP context (via wel Chen the transmission from a mobile terminal to a Pa chain switching interface node GGSN of a communicati network) through the terminal equipment (TE) into one Time.
The object of the present invention is to be as simple as possible and efficient to enable that through a mobile station at the same time communication via a first packet ver average communication network and (especially in the form of a Internet access) via a second packet-switched comm communication network enabled. The task is completed by solved the subjects of the independent claims.
The invention allows the same from a mobile radio terminal in addition to multimedia services (e.g. voice services services or data services) via a first packet-switching Communication network (MSP) also Internet access (at via a web browser, for example) into another packet Realize middle communication network, especially if the terminal equipment (TE) only has an Internet address o that only supports one PDP context at a time. The A mobile station in the Re receives Internet address gel from a packet switching interface node (GGSN) between the mobile network via which the mobile station te called and a packet-switched (= packet-switching) Communication network (MSP), the mobile station with this Internet protocol address a PDP context as a tunnel to GGSN builds and over the tunnel multimedia sessions (at for example voice transmission). It is from the Mobile station for the first packet-switched communication network (MSP) as well as for the second packet-switched commu nication network (Internet via an Internet service provider ISP) certain data packets to a packet switching Interface node (GGSN) between the first communicati sent onsnetz and the mobile network, with a Wei an ad in the second communication network of the second communication network in data packets an address mapping function is used. So that's it possible, with a terminal equipment, which only the construction one PDP context (PDP tunnel) at a time under supports a multimedia session and an inter net-session (Internet network access via an Internet service ce provider) by z. B. only a PDP context between the Mobilsta connected to the terminal equipment tion (MS) and a packet switching interface node GGSN is built over these data packets for the first as well as data packets for the second communication network be worn and by a filter (IM / ISP distributor) in Pa chain switching interface node GGSN) or in the first Communication network (MSP) the data packets are sorted. al Alternatively, it is possible to switch from one mobile station to another packet switching connected to the mobile network Interface node GGSN in addition to a PDP context to build a "Secondary PDP Context" the same internet protocol address as the existing one Context. This creates a simultaneous packet data connection to two packet-switching communication networks MSP, ISP for Mobile stations / terminal equipment, which indeed only support one internet protocol address, however the Possibility of two PDP contexts with the same Internet project Support tokoll address.
The filter function for be for the first communication network certain data packets and for the second communication network agreed data packets can in the first communication network (in the IM SS) and / or in a packet switching interface node (GGSN) and / or in a mobile station (MS).

Fig. 1 shows a Terminal Equipment (= TE) 1 and an as with connected mobile station (= MS) 2 by a mobile user, schematically a mobile radio network 3 (base station, base station controller, backbone network...), And a PDP - Tunnel (packet data protocol tunnel 4 ) for the transmission of packet data from the mobile station 2 to a packet switching interface node GGSN 5 (GPRS gateway service node). The GGSN 5 is connected via an MSP interface 6 with a filter 7 in a first communication network 8 to this first communication network 8 and via the filter 7 via an interface ISPF1 ( 28 ) and via an Internet service provider ISP1 ( 9 ) connected to a second communication network 10 (the Internet). Via the first communication network 8 , the mobile station 2 carries out, for example, voice communication or multimedia data communication with the public telecommunications network PSTN 11 connected to the first communication network 8 . With the second communication network 10 (Internet), the mobile station 2 conducts an Internet session via an Internet service provider ISP 1 ( 9 ) (surfing the Internet, checking mail, etc.).
The first communication network 8 comprises a first communication control node CSCF 12 for controlling the IM-ISP distributor 7 .
To set up a PDP context 4 (which is shown as a tunnel to GGSN 5 ), mobile station MS 2 receives an Internet protocol address from GGSN 6 from the MSP address set (from the address set of first communication network 8 ). With this Internet protocol address, the mobile station can set up one or more PDP contexts and begin a multimedia session (multimedia communication) in or via the first communication network MSP ( 8 ); this is done by registering with the CSCF ( 12 ).
If an Internet session (internet session) is to be set up at the same time as an existing multimedia session, the terminal equipment (TE 1 ) sends a relevant message to the communication control node CSCF ( 12 ), e.g. B. using the SIP protocol (shown as "Invi te" request). Here, parameters for the desired Internet access of the desired Internet session via the communication network 10 (Internet) are specified, that is to say, for example, which Internet service provider 9 is desired, which password the MS user / TI user has, etc.
. .) realisiert. The communication control node CSCF 12 then activates a filter 7 at the interface 6 , 7 between the GSN 5 and the first communication network 8 and transfers this to the data to be used for a connection to the second communication network 10 (via the Internet service provider 9 ) ( Password etc). The filter 7 transmits all messages to the Kommunikati onssteuerknoten CSCF 12 and realtime-Datemströme for ers te communication network MSP 8 in this first communication network MSP 8, while it be for the second communications network agreed messages and / or packet data to a function 28 for the Internet service provider 9 (the second communication network "Internet" 10 ) transmitted. From this ISP function 8 on the ISP distributor 7 , an address mapping (as an address replacement) is made from the address used by the MS 2 in the multimedia domain (in the PDP context) to an address of the address range of the Internet service -Providers ISP 1 carried out with appropriate address format adaptation; Furthermore, the access functions for the Internet service provider 9 (authorization of the L2TP,...) are realized.
All data packets arriving for the MS 2 from the Internet service provider 9 (from the second communication network 10, etc.) are not routed directly to the GGSN 5, although this has access to the Internet service provider 9 in FIG. 1, but from Internet service provider 9 via the ISP function 8 , the filter 7 , the GGSN 5 , the PDP tunnel 4 and the mobile radio network 3 transmitted to the mobile station 2 . The ISP 2 in the GGSN 5 has no special function and is an example of other connections that a GGSN 5 could support in other networks.
In FIG. 2, the Internet deleted 13 from the filter 7 in the first communication network 8 to the Internet service provider 9 in the Internet 10 in that in Fig. 2, a PDP tunnel 14 between a connected to the filter 7 GGSN interface and the GGSN 5 is provided. Data packets coming from the mobile station 2 (via 3, 4, 5, 16) intended for the Internet 10 are sorted out by the filter 7 as in FIG. 1 for forwarding to the Internet 10 , by the element 15 through an address mapping function with Internet protocol Provide addresses for the IP 1 and via the PDP tunnel 14 to the GGSN 5 for transmission via its interface 16 via the transmission path 17 to a service provider ISP 1 ( 9 ).
This has the advantage over the solution in FIG. 1 that a transition to the Internet service provider 9 does not exist at two points ( 1 ) but at only one point (transition 17 in FIG. 2) and must be administered. A division of ISP addresses of the Internet service provider between the GGSN and the ISP function in the IM / ISP distributor in FIG. 1 is omitted because, according to FIG. 2, the Internet service provider access 17 from the GGSN 5 is used as the sole access. For this purpose, a tunnel 14 to the GGSN 5 (analogue in the construction of a tunnel between an SGSN on the part of the mobile radio network 3 and the GGSN 5 ) is set up as a PDP context by the IM / ISP distributor 7 , 15 . The solutions according to FIG. 1 and 2 do not require new radio functions in GGSN.
According to FIG. 3, both the filter 7 , which forwards packets from the mobile station 2 to the first communication network 8 or the second communication network (Internet) 10 , and the only access 16 , 17 to the Internet 10 are between the mobile radio network 3 and the communication network 8 arranged GGSN 5 arranged. For this, the existing GPRS infrastructure must be expanded, but only existing functions (text structure, filters, address mapping) need to be modified in GGSN 5 and no new functionalities created.
As shown in FIG. 4, the filtering according to the invention (note: in addition to the filter 7 according to the invention, other filters are also provided in all the figures) can also be provided in the mobile station. According to Fig. 4 (when the TE 1 indicates the structure of an Internet session, z. B. as a message "acti vate ISP") from the mobile station 2 is a "secondary PDP context", that is, a PDP context with the same Internet Proto koll -Address like the existing context 4 generates. For this purpose, signaling is transmitted from the mobile station 2 via the Internet 3 and the existing PDP context 4 (“activate secondary PDP context”). When setting up the context, the parameters which are described in FIGS . 1 to 3 in the invite message are taken into account. A new function is that the GGSN 5 using this information from the structure of the secondary PDP context no longer routes the data to the MSP 8 (communication network 1 ), but to the corresponding Internet service provider (ISP1), whereby an address mapping function (in FIG . 16 ) is performed beforehand.
The mobile station 2 itself sorts certain data into the secondary PDP context for the Internet service provider 9 (ie the second communication network) and sorts certain multimedia data into the first PDP context for the first communication network 8 . The filter functions, which are shown in FIGS. 1 and 2 in IM / ISP distributor 7 , now take place in the mobile station, although they are not shown in FIG. 4.
The structure in Fig. 5 corresponds substantially to that shown in Fig. 4, wherein the mobile station 2 in Fig. 5 also performs the address mapping, so the insertion of IP addresses relating to the second communication network (Internet) 10 in be for this voted data packets. In this way, the GGSN 5 can be operated without extensions compared to its conventional design. Since the mobile station 2 builds two independent PDP contexts 4 , namely a context for the MSP 6 with an Internet protocol address from the Internet address range of the MSP and a PDP context for the packet traffic between the Mobilstation 2 and the Internet Service provider 9 for data traffic related to an Internet session (that is, for non-multimedia data).
The filter function (= distribution function for data to the packet-switching communication network MSP 8 and for data to the packet-switching communication network Internet 10 ) and the address mapping (inserting Internet addresses relating to the second communication network 10 into data packets intended for this) are carried out in the mobile station not shown there in FIG. 5 for reasons of clarity.
