Die einfachen Knebelringe, welche zum Festknebeln von Rindvieh, Pferden etc. dienen, leiden an dem Uebelstande, dafs sie den Thieren durch fortgesetztes Spielen mit der Kette eine selbstständige Befreiung gestatten. Der Knebel e findet alsdann ein Auflager in den untersten Begrenzungen g der Schlitze α bezw. b. Selbst wenn nun die Thiere den Knebel mit dem Maul erfassen können, um daran zu spielen, so dürfte es ihnen schwer möglich sein, den Knebel so zu stellen, dafs er gerade durch die Oeffnung c hindurchgeht. Aber selbst wenn dieses möglich wä're, so würde sich der Knebel e, der ja mit dem anderen Ende , noch in dem Schlitz α steckt, vor das freie Ende h der Schlitzbegrenzung b setzen und die Befreiung der Thiere von der Kette wenigstens so lange verhindern, bis ein Festschliefsen der Thiere durch das Stallpersonal wieder vorgenommen worden ist.Such a ring is shown in the drawing.
