Abstract
Description
The invention relates to a fax machine, which essentially in a manner known per se a processing shaft with at least one housing opening for input and output documents or their copies, in the processing shaft as a detector line assigned optical sensors for a line-by-line scanning by means of the device documents to be copied or sent by fax, means for printing from Device copies or fax copies of documents received, means for ver Binding the device with a telecommunications network and means for operating the Device and for entering a destination for a remote copy includes.
Fax machines have become an important means of communication. Even if in recent times other electronic means of communication has been increasing If it becomes widespread, the importance of fax machines will be preserved in the near future stay. In view of the development taking place in the field of telephony In the direction of increasing mobility, it is therefore logical to include fax machines in to include this development. The preparation of devices for mobile use known to go with a steady reduction in their components and dimensions sung along. But here, in particular, there are unresolved problems with fax machines. It is not difficult to adjust the electronic components accordingly downsizing, but further downsizing prevents the problem that the Feeder slot and the output slot of the fax machine to the dimensions of the Processing provided documents must have adapted dimensions. As a result, the feed and output chute has documents in A4 format or a width of approximately the same size for comparable American formats about 21 cm. The only exception to this is the fully known elek tronic faxing of documents. However, this requires that the corresponding documents already in electronic form in a fax serving device (for example a laptop or cell phone) are stored. Already in In this way, paper documents can only be submitted under Including a scanner to be faxed, then in terms of dimensions again the problem already described occurs.
Dies ist aber vergleichsweise aufwendig und eine übergroße Vorlage müsste dabei in nachteiliger Wiese zudem zerschnitten werden.DE 195 47 809 describes a mobile radio device (cell phone) with an integrated fax machine disclosed, wherein the device enables faxing of documents that are as Paper template are given. According to the basic approach, however, arise Due to the small size of the device, restrictions on the format may be possible Templates. A further training mentioned in the script therefore provides for the submission in capture multiple scans and overlap electronically to exclude individual parts of the template. But this is comparatively complex and one Oversized template would also have to be cut in a disadvantageous meadow.
The object of the invention is therefore to design a fax machine so that in addition to the Minia turization of its electronic parts also significantly reduced the mechanical parts are and thereby the dimensions of the entire device with regard to one greatly reduce mobile use compared to previously known devices without this Limitations on dimensions for the processable document templates arise.
This problem is solved by a fax machine with the features of the main claim. Advantageous developments or further developments of the fax machine according to the invention are given by the subclaims.
The proposed fax machine, which includes the usual modules, stands out characterized in that the processing shaft with respect to its extension transverse to the Direction of travel in which a document to be processed is guided during the scanning process has a non-rectilinear, tortuous or folded course. It follows those arranged in the processing shaft, made of optical sensors for scanning detector line formed by documents this course of the processing shaft. With respect to the same direction of extension, the housing opening or has the housing openings for input and output of documents a width, which is less than the maximum document width that can be processed by the fax machine. For example, this can be done with a fax machine, for example, whose paper feed opening is significantly less than 21 cm wide or even the edge length the side of the device having the paper feed opening has a smaller width, Copy paper documents in A4 format or send them by fax.
According to a possible embodiment, the fax machine has a reference to the barrel device of a document during the scanning process, both on its front and on on the back of a housing opening for the input and output of documents.
The fax machine according to the invention is particularly advantageously designed, if it is, too based on the running direction of the scanning process, has an edge length that is less is the corresponding paper dimensions, i.e. the maximum of the fax machine processable document length.
For guiding and transporting a document through the processing shaft during the scanning process are advantageously in the processing shaft in the Direction of transport arranged several transport rollers. In a possible variant of the above struck fax machine is also parallel to the direction of a document Scan process provided another housing opening, which with the processing shaft communicates. In this case it is possible to use one for processing feed the intended document to the device transversely to the direction of travel. This Ausge Design variant is advantageously formed when at a right angle to the the first mentioned rollers moving in the running direction of the scanning process additional transport rollers are arranged, through which the intake of one across Direction of document fed is supported.
Regardless of whether the fax machine is feeding documents across the direction enabled or not, it is important for a successful fax transmission that Position the document correctly for scanning. This can be done by the respective Basically operator, for example, when appropriate markings are attached done manually. However, sees a particularly advantageous embodiment of the invention that detectors are arranged in the processing shaft, which serve to ensure a complete document run during the scanning process. To exists between one additionally trained in the device for this purpose Control circuit and the position detectors and the rollers a Steuerver binding. The exact design of the control circuit and the control connection is However, this is not the subject of the present invention, especially for the person skilled in the art usable circuits should be known. The position detectors for Positioning a document are advantageously just like the elements of the Detector line designed as optical sensors.
For the training and arrangement of those already mentioned and absolutely necessary Means for printing documents generated in the machine or received as a remote copy Copies have different options. A particularly advantageous and yourself there is a possibility to adapt the basic shape of the processing shaft in that they are designed as printing elements arranged in a printing line. A line-shaped or matrix-shaped arrangement of needles for would be conceivable here thermal printing or a corresponding arrangement of ink nozzles. The fiction appropriate design of the fax machine allows this also with regard to its external Reduce dimensions so far that the processing shaft with housing opening documents for the input and output of documents, the detector line and the means for Pressure can be accommodated in the housing of a mobile phone.
Die hierzu dienenden Zeichnungen zeigen:The fax machine according to the invention is to be explained in more detail on the basis of exemplary embodiments become. The drawings used for this show:

In Figs. 1 to 3, the inventive principle is illustrated. Since this relates in particular to a special design of the processing shaft 1 and the associated special arrangement of the detector line 3 for the scanning of documents, the figures largely relate to the representation of other known elements of the fax machine, such as, for example, the operating elements 9 , which is self-evident also means to be provided for illuminating the document 4 when scanning and the like are dispensed with. Rather, the representations, like the essence of the invention, essentially relate exclusively to the special configuration of the processing shaft.
The basic solution is immediately clear from FIG. 1. It can be seen that the processing shaft 1 and consequently also its associated housing opening 2 , which can be seen in the illustration, has a design which differs significantly from the shape of conventional fax machines. In the example shown in FIG. 1, the processing shaft is designed spirally, based on its extent, transversely to the direction of travel a of a document 4 during the fax process. Correspondingly, the document 4 intended for processing, for example for sending as a remote copy, is to be rolled up and fed to the processing shaft 1 in this form. The resulting advantage of the special design is immediately clear. As a result, the complete fax machine can have a width that is significantly smaller than the maximum document width that can be processed. Based on a document 4 in A4 format, the fax machine can therefore be significantly narrower than 21 cm. By FIGS. 2a to 2d further possible shapes for the processing are bay 1 or for the corresponding the feeding or output of documents serving housing openings 2, illustrates 2 '. The processing shaft 1 can, as shown in FIG. 2a, be almost circular or spiral according to FIG. 2b, but also wave-shaped according to FIG. 2c or in any other form, for example according to FIG. 2d. In the embodiments of the fax machine shown in FIGS. 2a to 2d, the processing shaft 1 also has, in accordance with a possible configuration of the fax machine, an additional housing opening 6 which extends parallel to the running direction a of the scanning process. This additional housing opening 6 facilitates the insertion of a document 4 to be processed, in that it can be inserted transversely to the running direction a. By the Fig. 3 is a view of the processing shaft 1 of a facsimile apparatus according to the invention designed and to the other elements therein is reproduced. As in FIGS. 2a to 2b, the processing shaft 1 has a housing opening 6 arranged parallel to the running direction a of the scanning process. For better clarification of the elements provided in the processing shaft 1 according to possible configurations of the device according to the invention, the processing shaft 1 and the housing opening 6 have been pulled apart somewhat in the illustration. The direction of travel a, in which a document 4 is moved during its processing in the course of the scanning by the fax machine, is plotted in the figures, it being only important in the foreground, in which plane the document 4 is moving, but not whether it is moves in a positive or negative direction a. As can be seen from the figure, the detector line 3 consisting of a large number of optical sensors follows the course of the processing shaft. A representation of light sources which naturally also exist and which illuminate the object to be detected by the detectors during the scanning process was dispensed with, because it is of subordinate importance for the basic inventive principle. Possibly there is a certain distortion due to the non-straight line course of the detector line 3 during the scanning, but this can be easily corrected with the means of electronics known from the prior art. By selecting very small sensor elements available on the market, the detector line 3 can also be wound in very tight radii.
In the example shown, 4 additional elements are provided for the correct positioning of the document to be processed. The positioning is carried out by means of further detectors 8 , 8 ', preferably also optical sensors, by means of which it is recognized whether the document 4 is initially correctly inserted in relation to a planned starting position and is then passed completely over the detector line 3 during scanning. The detectors 8 , 8 'are in a control connection with a corresponding control circuit (not shown here) and ultimately, via this control circuit, also in a control connection with the transport rollers 5 which serve to feed the document 4 , so that incorrect positioning of the master copy 4 by means of the transport rollers 5 may occur (or in a simpler version by hand) can be corrected. The also provided, at right angles to the first-mentioned transport rollers 5 arranged transport rollers 7 support the introduction of the document 4 transverse to the direction of travel. A possible sequence of the remote copying process using a fax machine in an embodiment according to FIG. 3 takes place as follows:
The paper document 4 is inserted with the long side through the housing opening 6 into the processing shaft 1 of the fax machine, depending on the actual size of the fax machine and the format of the copy template 4 on the front and back of the device.
The rollers 7 take the copy template 4 and pull it to the end or stop in the processing shaft. The paper 4 is aligned parallel to the running direction a of the later scanning process, for example by a stop.
The rollers 7 are sunk and the rollers 5 are pushed out. They grasp the paper 4 and pull it through the processing shaft 1, which is, for example, spirally wound, in the a direction until the detectors 8 , 8 'indicate that the document 4 is located completely to the left of the detector line 3 . Now the rollers 5 reverse the direction of rotation and push the paper 4 in the negative a-direction past the detector line 3 until the detectors 8 , 8 'indicate that the document 4 has been completely guided past the detector line 3 . The entire document 4 is thus scanned or printed, and it can be ejected or brought back into a middle position by the rollers 5 .
Der Schritt 2 entfällt dann.4 is provided in parallel to the direction of a no housing opening 6 in the machine, the paper 4 and the document 4 in a rolled state is introduced directly into the processing tray 1 according tortuous housing opening 2 on the front side. Step 2 is then omitted.
An example of a mobile radio telephone with an integrated fax device is illustrated by FIG. 4. Due to the special shape of the processing shaft 1 and the detector line 3 following in its course the processing shaft 1 , it is possible to measure the dimensions of the housing openings 2 , 2 'for the delivery or output of documents to be sent by fax or received by fax to keep small that they can be easily inserted into the handset of such a telephone with the usual dimensions. The variant shown is of course not the only conceivable one. It is also possible that, in view of the mechanical stability of the headset, another conceivable course for the processing shaft 1 proves to be more expedient in the practical implementation of the inventive idea. The means 10 for connection to a corresponding communication network are of course realized as a radio connection by means of the antenna.
