The invention relates to a method and an arrangement for determining the wood surface moisture by measuring the equilibrium moisture content corresponding to the air condition at the wood surface (phase boundary surface), on the basis of which the process parameters can be controlled during lumber drying.
Charakteristik des bekannten Standes der TechnikCharacteristic of the known state of the art
In large-scale drying of sawn timber, the driving force for external moisture transport from the board surface to the core flow is the difference between the wood surface moisture and the equilibrium moisture content of the core flow. A high air speed (and thus a high electric energy consumption to drive the Vontilatoren) affects only as long as accelerating on the drying process, as said moisture difference exceeds a certain level. If, during the drying process, the surface moisture of the core flows closer to the surface, increasing the air velocity does not accelerate the drying and the consumption of electrical energy increases unnecessarily.
For reasons of economy, it is therefore advisable to determine the time of the possible in the last phase of the drying process air flow reduction as accurately as possible, so as to achieve a considerable saving of electrical energy by appropriate regulation of the fan motors.
Moderne Regelungen (Brunner, Hildebrandt. Die Schnittholztrocknung. 5. Ein weiteres diesbezügliches Verfahren zur Regelung des Luftdurchsatzes bei der Schnittholztrocknung, bei dem die Geschwindigkeit der die Bretter im Stempel umströmenden Luft in Abhängigkeit von der Differenz zwischen der dem LuftzustandModern regulations (Brunner, Hildebrandt, Schnittholz-Trocknung, 5th edition, Hanover 1987) use the measured equilibrium moisture content at a measuring point outside the stack in the core flow of the drying air and the measured air velocity for approximate determination of the equilibrium moisture content on the wood surface on the basis of empirical calculation equations , Disadvantages of this method are the necessary and technically complicated measurement of the air velocity, the empirically based calculation of the equilibrium moisture content at the phase boundary as well as the falsification of results due to different boundary layer formation. Another relevant method for controlling the air flow in the wood drying, wherein the speed of the air flowing around the boards in the stamp depending on the difference between the air condition
In the core flow corresponding equilibrium and the humidity of the wood surface is regulated, has been proposed in DD-PS 273099.
Methods for measuring the equilibrium moisture content of the core flow are known, but for the exact measurement of the wood surface moisture wio even the exact measurement of the equilibrium moisture content of the air flow at the phase interface (according to the theory of NERNST has the same value as the wood moisture on the board surface) yet none industrially applicable in the wood drying drying solution.
The continuous measurement of the surface moisture content of wood in the drying process, which generally takes place by measuring the electrical properties (conductivity measurement), has hitherto been possible only by means of electrodes applied or hammered.
In the attached electrodes occur due to different levels of good contact with the wood surface and differing wood properties sometimes considerable measurement errors. The impact electrodes are either hammered into the wood core and to a depth of approximately one third of the board thickness, whereby the surface moisture is approximated from the moisture values determined here as a function of the drying, or they are smashed into the layer close to the surface, this measured value being Surface moisture corresponds.
Ziel der ErfindungObject of the invention
The object of the invention is to obtain suitable measurement data in order to use it to set desired values for the process parameters (such as air humidity or air velocity) during lumber drying for securing a given product quality with minimal energy consumption.
Darlegung des Wesens der ErfindungExplanation of the essence of the invention
The object of the invention is to propose and use a suitable sensor for measuring the equilibrium moisture content of the air flow directly at the phase interface.

As ZeIIuIo jematerial z. As suitable adhesives, those from the group of epoxy resin adhesive have been found, the cellulosic layer is glued to the boi dir drying of lumber exposed to the air flow board top or bottom and fed during the Trock.'iungsprozesses electrical quantity fed to a process computer and used to control the process or individual process parameters of the drying of the sawn timber.

The recess is made so that there is no significant height difference between the air-side surface of the adhered layer and the wood surface.
For receiving the electrodes in the glued layer this is expediently designed so that it consists for example of two glued by dextrin transparent paper layers, between which the two electrodes are glued in a defined distance.

On the surface of a board 1, a recess 2 was incorporated by means of a hand plane. In this moisture-insulating adhesive 5 (based on epoxy resin) consisting of transparent paper Moisture meter 3 is glued.
The dimensions are chosen so that the air flow exposed surface of the measuring strip terminates with the board surface. In the measuring strip 3, the electrodes 4 are visible, which allow a measurement of the moisture-dependent resistance in the cellulose-containing measuring strip. In the hygroscopic layer, a humidity is established which corresponds to the equilibrium moisture content of the air at the phase interface.
By means of the electrodes introduced in the layer, it is possible to continuously measure the electrical resistance changing with the moisture of the hygroscopic layer and to supply it to a process computer which calculates the moisture of the hygroscopic layer via a calibration curve.
If the equilibrium moisture content of the core flow is simultaneously determined with a known method for gas moisture measurement and supplied to the process computer together with the values measured according to the invention, these values form the basis of an effective control of the drying process of the sawn timber, in particular the air velocity.
