Description
The invention relates to a method for obtaining cellulosic material by treating cellulosic vegetable raw materials with chemical agents. According to the invention, suitable starting materials are lignocellulose-containing fruit and vegetable raw materials or lignocellulose-containing residues of the industrial processing of fruits and vegetables or lignocellulose-containing residues of the industrial processing of root crops. The cellulosic material obtained according to the invention exhibits excellent swelling behavior and binding capacity with respect to water and is therefore suitable as a functional constituent of dietetic foods.
The extraction, production and use of cellulosic materials, cellulose derivatives, modified cellulose or microcrystalline cellulose play a role in various technical fields. As far as these are celluloses, which are used as raw material in the pulp and paper industry, they can be disregarded in the present case, since starting raw materials, treatment conditions and properties are not closely related to the invention.
Cellulose itself has hitherto been used only to a limited extent as microcrystalline cellulose (Avicel, Heweten) in the pharmaceutical industry for the preparation of hydrogel ointments or in food production for the preparation of reduced-fat creamy suspensions, salad mayonnaises or the like.
The microcrystalline cellulose is a raw material-dependent microcrystallite in powder form, which is exposed by decomposition of the amorphous cellulose components in the fibers by means of mineral acids.
In addition to the non-derivatized cellulose cellulose derivatives, eg. As methyl cellulose, ethyl cellulose, hydroxyethyl cellulose or carboxymethyl cellulose, an increasing role.
Only partially etherified products have a desired water solubility for some applications. The cellulose derivatives share the property of swelling. While cellulose and microcrystalline cellulose have only limited swelling in water, the etherified products have unlimited swellability. This behavior is explained in the literature by the fact that the Hauptvalenzketten the cellulose are forced apart by alkylation, so that the remaining OH groups are now a solvation by water molecules (hydration) accessible.
The known methods of cellulose extraction, as well as the cellulose derivatization or partial depolymerization destroy in any case, the cell structure of the starting raw materials and release the cellulose.
Usual raw materials of the pulp and paper industry are mainly wood, straw, hard fibers, potato herb, reed grass, reed and rapeseed straw. For the recovery of cellulose, various processes are known to be used, which are adapted in their specific embodiments of the respective raw materials. Such methods include, for example, the so-called alkaline digestion with a mixture of sodium hydroxide and sodium sulfate, the acid digestion with calcium bisulfite, the digestion with nitric acid, a so-called two-stage digestion with a prehydrolysis u.a. It is unnecessary to go into these methods here, as well as to individual steps of post-treatments of the recovered cellulose, since all known extraction processes completely destroy the cell structure of the vegetable raw materials used. This is partly due to the drastic reaction conditions, but also due to the necessary separation of accompanying substances of cellulose in the vegetable raw materials.
Cellulose occurs in large quantities as a scaffold polysaccharide, usually associated with hemicelluloses, lignin and other dietary fiber. The aim of the invention is to develop on the basis of vegetable raw materials sensory unloaded cellulosic materials for use, preferably in dietetic foods.
The object of the invention is to disclose raw materials and process conditions which ensure the release of such cellulose material from the lignocellulose-containing raw materials used.
Es wurde gefunden, daß ein Cellulosematerial mit den gewünschten Eigenschaften erhalten wird, wenn erfindungsgemäß bestimmte lignocellulosehaltige pflanzliche Rohstoffe, vorzugsweise Blatt- und Wurzelgemüse, oder lignocellulosehaltige Rückstände der industriellen Verarbeitung von Obst und Gemüse, vorzugsweise Möhrentrester, Preßrückstände von Roten Beten, Blumenkohlabfälle und Hülsen von Gemüseerbsen, oder lignocellulosehaltige Rückstände der industriellen VerarbeitungIt has been found that a cellulosic material having the desired properties is obtained when certain lignocellulosic vegetable raw materials, preferably leaf and root vegetables, or lignocellulose-containing residues of the industrial processing of fruits and vegetables, preferably carrot pomace, press residues of beetroot, cauliflower waste and pods of Vegetable peas, or lignocellulose-containing residues of industrial processing
/on Hackfrüchten, vorzugsweise Zuckerrüben, Futterüben und Kartoffeln, in einem sauren wäßrigen Milieu bei Temperaturen ois zu 800C mit hypochlorit- und/oder chlorithaltigen Lösungen, die gegebenenfalls weitere Salze enthalten, vorzugsweise mit Matriumchlorit, oder mit sogenannter hypochlorithaltiger Bleichlauge behandelt werden./ on root crops, preferably sugar beet, forage and potatoes, in an acidic aqueous medium at temperatures up to 80 0 C with hypochlorite and / or chlorite-containing solutions which optionally contain other salts, preferably with matriumchlorite, or treated with so-called hypochlorite-containing bleach.
After this chemical treatment in which, depending on the raw material used, the amount used of the treatment solution, the reaction time and the reaction temperature, the resulting dye and flavor-free cellulose material is washed thoroughly with water and in a known per se in a more or less hydrous stable and homogeneous form, directly processed or dried in a suitable manner while preserving the structure.
Essential for the implementation of the method according to the invention are various factors, including the selection of suitable lignocellulosic raw materials. The selection criteria of raw material and treatment already mentioned include the relatively high content of pectin substances or relatively low content of lignin and the action of a selective oxidation solution.
As a rule, the vegetable raw materials according to the invention have a lignin content in the dry matter of not more than 10% KLASON lignin.
For obtaining the cell structure and the associated specific material properties in the cellulose material produced according to the invention, in particular the oxidative lignin degradation by means of the selected chemical agents has the decisive material-converting function. The material conversion according to the invention is characteristic of the use of said raw materials.
The resulting from the inventive oxidative lignin degradation of very specific raw materials cellulose material swells to a strong extent and keeps absorbed by swelling water exceptionally strong, so that the obtained for example by suction or centrifugation water-rich products of gelatinous consistency and have residual water contents up to 98%. When drying under defined conditions of temperature and relative humidity occur the different material properties of the cellulose-containing product according to the invention in comparison to microcrystalline cellulose without cell structure, eg. B. Heweten type, particularly clear.
If the cellulosic material produced according to the invention is to be converted into a dry form, removal of water must be carried out by means of a gentle drying process in order to preserve the characteristic material properties so that the cell structure, which can be detected, for example, by scanning electron microscopy, is largely retained.
As a suitable gentle drying process, the solvent drying has preferably been found. Cellulosic materials in powder form are formed which, according to the capillary suction method [Lebensmittel, Vol. 27, No. 2,1983], briefly absorb water binding capacities of up to 30 grams of water per gram of cellulose material and largely rehydrate to the gelatinous initial state. Under the same experimental conditions, microcrystalline cellulose, for example, Heweten 20, has only a water binding capacity of up to 3 grams of water per gram.

Nach Verdrängung des Wassers und Entfernung des Lösungsmittels durch Pressen, Filtration oder Zentrifugation erfolgt eine schonende Trocknung im Vakuum.1.7 kg wet cellulosic product from carrots (dry mass 4.4%) are first brought to a dry matter content of about 20% by mechanical dehumidification by means of centrifugation or pressure filtration. Subsequently, the remaining water is displaced by treatment with customary solvents, for example methanol, ethanol, isopropanol, acetone and the like. It is critical that thorough mixing of the wet substance with the organic solvent achieves complete penetration. After displacement of the water and removal of the solvent by pressing, filtration or centrifugation gentle drying in a vacuum.
