The crosslinkers may be in pure form or dissolved in alcohol, e.g. Hatriummethylat in methanol (DD-PS 70 388) can be used. However, it is also possible to use some of the crosslinkers as "reactive or inert masterbatch" (DD-PS 70 386, DD-PS 70 387, DD-PS 88 401). To prepare an "inert masterbatch", the crosslinkers are incorporated in olefin homopolymers, for example polyethylene and polyethylene wax.A "reactive masterbatch" is obtained by reacting a vinyl ester-containing polymer which is preferably more than 20 mol%, preferably 30 to 50 mol%. Containing vinyl ester groups is reacted at temperatures below 373 K with the corresponding Yernetzer.
In the preparation of a "reactive masterbatch" is of Zachteil that depending on the reaction conditions as lebensreakiion more or less strongly networking of the vinyl ester-containing polymer used in each case. This Yernetäungsvorgang runs during the implementation of the "reactive masterbatch" with the vinyl ester-containing polymer from, so that. The production of an "inert masterbatch" has the disadvantage that the crosslinkers are not soluble in the non-polar polyolefins because of their high polarity. It is therefore difficult to achieve a good distribution of the crosslinker in the polyolefin. In addition, the use of an "inert masterbatch", especially when a polyolefin wax is used as the polyolefin, adversely affects the machanic properties of the crosslinked product.

Darlegung des Wesens der ErfindungExplanation of the essence of the invention
The object of the invention is to use polymeric substances as crosslinking agents. This object is achieved by a process for crosslinking vinyl ester-containing polymers, preferably ethylene-vinyl acetate copolymers, optionally mixed with olefin homopolymers and / or inorganic fillers and / or organic materials, by adding Vernötzungsmitteln, according to the invention the vinyl ester-containing polymers in the melt at temperatures of 363 to 523 K, preferably at 393 to 493 K, are reacted with products which in the reaction of low molecular weight ethylene-vinyl acetate Copolymers or of partially or completely saponified, low molecular weight ethylene-vinyl acetate copolymers or higher molecular weight, fully saponified ethylene-vinyl acetate copolymers with solutions of alkali metal hydrocarbons, preferably of "sodium alcoholates, in the corresponding alcohol or with alcohol-containing alkali metal alcoholates n and which have a sodium content of 1 to 33% by mass, preferably from 3 to 20% by mass. The low molecular weight ethylene-vinyl acetate copolymers have a molecular weight in the range of from 3,000 to 15,000, preferably from 5,000 to 10,000 (weight average), and a vinyl acetate content in the range of from 15 to 90% by weight, preferably from 25 to 55 mass.
Höhermolekulare Ethylen-Vinylacetat-Copolymere werden charakterisiert durch ein.Molekulargewicht im Bereich von 30000 bis 200000, vorzugsweise von 40000 bis 100000 (Gewichtsmittel), und einen Vinylacetatgehalt im Bereich von 20 bis 95 Masse-%» vorzugsweise von 30 bis 75 Masse-%·Higher molecular weight ethylene-vinyl acetate copolymers are characterized by a molecular weight in the range from 30,000 to 200,000, preferably from 40,000 to 100,000 (weight average), and a vinyl acetate content in the range from 20 to 95% by mass, preferably from 30 to 75% by mass.
The degree of saponification of the relatively high molecular weight ethylene-vinyl acetate copolymers should be 100 % in order to completely exclude the crosslinking which takes place in the reaction with alkali metal alkoxides as ITebenreaktion. It has been found, however, that saponification levels greater than 95 % are practically sufficient.
The alkali metal alkoxides used are preferably sodium alcoholates, but also. Lithium and potassium alcohols can be used. Methanol and prepanol are preferably used as the alcohol component, but higher alcohols are also suitable. The alcoholates are used either as pesticides having a certain free alcohol content or as solutions in the corresponding alcohol. The reaction products according to the invention of the reaction of low molecular weight ethylene-vinyl acetate copolymers, partially or fully saponified, low molecular weight ethylene-vinyl acetate copolymers or higher molecular weight, completely saponified ethylene-vinyl acetate copolymers with solutions of alkali metal alcoholates in the corresponding alcohol or with alcohol-containing alkali metal alcoholates are solid Substances that are easy to grind or granulate. The powders or granules thus produced are readily dosed. Their storage takes place under extensive exclusion of moisture.
Die vernetzten Produkte besitzen eine gute Homogenität»The cross-linking can be carried out in internal mixers and extrusion machines, with twin-screw extruders representing the most technologically favorable variant. The addition of the crosslinker takes place either directly during the after-processing step via a suitable metering device, or a crosslinkable mixture is prepared beforehand.
