Abstract
Method for automatic fruit damage diagnosis by means of infrared radiation with elimination of visual and manual test methods. The damage diagnosis is used to sort fruit for sale, storage or processing industry. The object is to provide a method for the automatic detection of damage to living objects, especially fruits and vegetables, which should be kept free of destruction during the Pruefvorganges and largely berührungslos. The method makes use of the measurement of the infrared radiation of the examined living objects, which may be amplified by suitable means, whereby this radiation loses its intensity and quality depending on the species, size and number of defects, thus providing the basis for a corresponding sorting process. The method is mainly used in fruit and vegetable production and research, but can be used anywhere where damaged living objects emit a different infrared natural radiation than undamaged objects.

Anwendungsgebiet der ErfindungField of application of the invention
The invention relates to a method for diagnosing damage, preferably open injuries, to living objects, in particular fruit and vegetables. The detection of such damage is necessary, for example, in order to select or claasify fruit and vegetables during manual harvesting the transport route has received more or less damage with regard to number and size. The use of such a method in fruit and vegetable cultivation organizes itself organically into the satisfaction of the needs arising from the introduction of industrial methods into agriculture and thus represents an important link in industrial agricultural production. Moreover, the application of such an invention can be found everywhere take place where damage fixation is possible on the basis of the described effect and is required in the context of an examination, eg with respect to storability.

Eehkugler, J.A. Damaged fruit can not present a risk of infection to healthy fruits and, moreover, can be used profitably in the processing industry. "This almost exclusively used type of test has two major deficiencies. The first concerns the required use of human intelligence in the selection process. The second is the manual procedure during the test procedure · This results in various disadvantages. In fact, not all defects are detected and, moreover, the labor and labor effort associated with manual sorting is so extraordinarily high that damage detection often can not be performed. The method of irradiating tomatoes to determine the degree of ripeness is not transferable to the aforementioned main type of damage with respect to its recognition, because a global contrast in terms of color, which corresponds to the wavelength in the infrared range, here no statement and on top of that only a few agricultural products have a similar opaque effect show like the tomato. The publication G.E. Eehkugler, J.A. Throop involves pure reflection in the infrared range, which has the disadvantage over the own radiation used here that only the surface of the objects can be detected. Undamaged areas of the object to be measured can also show the same reflection behavior as damaged areas due to the surface condition, so that no differentiation is possible.
Ziel der ErfindungObject of the invention
Die automatische Schadenerkennung soll so erfolgen, daß die geschädigten Früchte aussortiert, eine Qualitätssteigerung der Früchte für den Frischmarkt erzielt und im FalleThe object of the invention is to provide a method which enables detection of the above-mentioned damage to each individual object, e.g. on a single fruit, without a visual and manual check being made. Darlegung des Wesens der Erfindung ^Explanation of the essence of the invention
The object underlying the invention is to provide a method by means of which mainly open spots on living objects, preferably fruits, can be detected automatically. For this purpose, a non-destructive method of damage detection is to be developed.' Especially to avoid additional mechanical stress sensitive to various types of objects examination objects, the method should largely operate contactless. In this case, as far as possible, all partial areas of the surface of the examination object must be accessible to the test. These subareas should be examined serially or in parallel and tested for defects.
According to the invention, the object is achieved by a method which measures the infrared intrinsic radiation emanating from the examination subject by means of a suitable detector arrangement and compares it with the radiation of another subregion of the object or a suitable standard value; over an undamaged subarea due to an increased evaporation effect, an infrared heat radiation of lesser intensity. This difference forms the basis of the damage diagnosis. It can be detected by appropriate excitation, e.g. Use of an air flow to amplify the occurring at the open site evaporation, be increased. The object to be examined is kept in a control zone during the letting and comparison process in such a way that it is possible to record the entire fruit and to minimize the disturbance of the infrared radiation.

For the diagnosis of open spots, i. of areas with a separate shell of apples, these are individually fed to a test zone and held there between the stem and goblet without damage so that infrared radiation can be freely unhooked from all places of the Sucht · The touch leads a translational movement in the direction of the axis through each stem and calyx, and a rotational movement about this axis. This causes each site to pass by an infrared-specific optical system. This corresponds to a scanning of the fruit surface. The infrared radiation bundled and deflected by special optical systems reaches a sensitive detector that measures the intensity of heat radiation. The intensity values for each associated Iruchstelle be in a one-. stored and processed so that a statement about the existence of an accidental damage is made. Depending on the presence of open areas, an emergency ejector is actuated, so that the corresponding accident passes without further damage into a corresponding container for damaged or undamaged apples.
