Oblast technikyField of technology
Předmětem vynálezu je způsob vytváření koncové části vnější elektrody zapalovací svíčky s nánosem přídavného materiálu metodou laserového navařování.The subject of the invention is a method of forming the end part of the outer electrode of a spark plug with the application of additional material by the method of laser welding.
Cílem předloženého vynálezu je dosažení minimalizace tahových napětí v difúzním spoji a samotném návaru a následně minimalizace vzniku trhlin a vad. Cílem je rovněž zlepšení mechanických vlastností návaru, zvýšení jeho pevnosti Rm a meze kluzu Re.The spark plug electrodes are alternately subjected to cyclic heating and cooling in the engine's combustion chamber, which repeatedly creates thermal stress at the interface between the center electrode tip and the front end of the outer electrode due to the different thermal expansion between them. This thermal stress is concentrated at said interface and causes cracks and defects in the spark plug. U.S. Pat. No. 8,348,789 describes the formation of a spark plug center electrode tip by laser welding, in which the base material of the electrode is heated above its melting point and an additional material, e.g. W, Ir or Pt in the form of a powder, is fed into the laser beam and the resulting melt. This powder is melted by a laser beam and the two materials are diffusely mixed and subsequently, with a constant supply of powder, a W, Ir or Pt weld is gradually formed to the desired height. The object of the present invention is to minimize the tensile stresses in the diffusion joint and the weld itself and consequently to minimize the formation of cracks and defects. The aim is also to improve the mechanical properties of the weld metal, to increase its strength Rm and the yield strength Re.
Podstata vynálezuThe essence of the invention
The subject of the present invention is a method of forming the end part of the middle electrode of a spark plug with the application of an additional material selected from the group comprising W, Pt and Ir by a laser welding method, wherein the outer electrode of Ni alloy is provided with an anti-corrosion layer Zn resp. ZnNi. The essence of the invention is that first this anti-corrosion layer is evaporated by the action of a laser beam with a first pulse of 2000 to 2500 W / mm 2 for up to 0.3 s in the area of future application of additional material, then the end part of the outer electrode is reduced by reduced laser beam intensity. in the region of 100 W / mm 2 for up to 0.4 s is preheated, followed by two successive pulses of a laser beam with an intensity of 1500 to 2000 W / mm 2 , i.e. a second pulse and a third pulse. In the second pulse for up to 0.5 s, the base material of the end part of the outer electrode is locally heated above its melting temperature and its surface layer is melted to a depth of 0.1 mm, after which additional material is fed into the laser beam and the resulting melt. powder, which is melted to the surface of the end portion of the outer electrode, with the material of which it is diffusely mixed. Then, the intensity of the laser beam is then reduced to 100 W / mm 2 for up to 0.4 s, whereby the temperature of the process area of the end part of the outer electrode is reduced to substantially 300 ° C. In the third pulse of the laser beam, which has a similar course as the previous second pulse, in a repeated cycle of further melting and solidification of the resulting melt, by further feeding the additive powder, a build-up of pure additive material is gradually formed to the required height. , thereby minimizing the occurrence of tensile stresses and the risk of cracking in the end portion of the outer electrode, and preventing the formation of a hard and brittle structure, and the end portion of the outer electrode is shaped.
Nárůst i pokles intenzity třetího pulzu laserového paprskuje méně strmý než druhého pulzu, při zachování jejich v podstatě stejné maximální intenzity v oblasti 1500 až 2000 W/mm2.The increase and decrease of the intensity of the third pulse of the laser beam is less steep than the second pulse, while maintaining their essentially the same maximum intensity in the range of 1500 to 2000 W / mm 2 .
Protože v této fázi není návar významně vystavován do výšky resp. požadované tlouštky, můžeDuring the second pulse, a diffusion layer is formed between the electrode and the powder of the additive material. Because in this phase the weld is not significantly exposed to the height resp. required thickness, may
During the third pulse, a weld is built to the required thickness. At this stage, more time is needed for stable formation of the desired shape and also for gradual solidification, which reduces the risk of cracks in the weld. For these reasons, the increase and decrease in the intensity of the third pulse of the laser beam is less steep than the second pulse, while maintaining essentially the same maximum intensity, the third pulse being longer in time than the second.
Horní povrch nánosu přídavného materiálu se broušením nebo frézováním upraví do roviny, načež se koncová část vnější elektrody zastřihne do klínovitého tvaru se zkosením v oblasti 10 až 30° o šířce vnějšího okraje ve vrcholu tohoto klínu 0,8 až 2 mm.The upper surface of the additive material coating is ground by grinding or milling, after which the end part of the outer electrode is cut into a wedge shape with a chamfer in the region of 10 to 30 ° with an outer edge width of 0.8 to 2 mm at the apex of this wedge.

Příklady uskutečnění vynálezuExamples of embodiments of the invention
Rychlým odvodem tepla z procesního místa do základního materiálu („samoochlazovací efekt“) dochází k rychlému tuhnutí vzniklé slitiny. Dalším přiváděním přídavného prášku za působení laserového paprsku je postupně vystavován návar již čistého W, Pt nebo Ir.The principle of the method is intensive local heating of the base material of the outer electrode 2 of the spark plug (Ni alloy) by a laser beam above its melting point, when additional material (4 W, Pt or Ir deposit) in powder form is introduced into the laser beam and the resulting melt. it is also melted by the laser beam. There is a mixing of the two materials and the formation of a diffusion joint 5 between them. The rapid removal of heat from the process site to the base material ("self-cooling effect") results in the rapid solidification of the resulting alloy. In a continuous cycle of rapid melting and solidification and with a constant supply of powder, there is a gradual construction of the weld (deposit 4) to any height. The laser beam is focused on the surface of the outer electrode 2 by means of collimating and focusing optics 2. An additional powder is fed axially with the beam, the supply cone of which is also focused on the surface of the outer electrode 2 attached to the spark plug housing 1 and intended for welding. After switching on the laser, the surface of the outer electrode 2 is intensively heated to the state of the melt. The additional powder is fed into the formed melt, where it is also gradually melted by the laser powder and a diffusion bond 5 is formed between the W, Pt or Ir powder and the base material (Ni alloy) of the outer electrode 2. Further additional powder supply under the laser beam is gradually exposed to a deposit of already pure W, Pt or Ir.
Celkový čas procesuje 2,5 s.The outer electrode 2 of the Ni-alloy spark plug is attached to the spark plug housing 1, has a width in the range of 1.3 to 3 mm and a thickness in the range of 2.1 to 5 mm. It is protected against corrosion by a layer of Zn, resp. ZnNi. This layer must be removed due to the good adhesion of the laser deposit. To remove this anti-corrosion layer, a short, high-intensity laser pulse is used, which precedes the welding process itself. The total processing time is 2.5 s.
V první fázi (viz obr. 5) procesu v čase až do 0,3 sekundy dochází prvním laserovým pulzem o vysoké intenzitě 2000 až 2500 W/mm2 (rozsah intenzity je dán použitým materiálem následného nánosu 4 (W, Pt nebo Ir), z důvodu čistého spoje se základním materiálem k odstranění antikorozní vrstvy Zn resp. ZnNi (odpaření vrstvy), v následné fázi 0,3 až 0,7 sekundy procesu dochází keIn the first phase (see Fig. 5) of the process, the first laser pulse with a high intensity of 2000 to 2500 W / mm 2 occurs in time up to 0.3 seconds (the intensity range is given by the used material of the subsequent application 4 (W, Pt or Ir), due to the clean connection with the base material to remove the anti-corrosion layer Zn or ZnNi (evaporation of the layer), in the subsequent phase 0.3 to 0.7 seconds of the process occurs
- 2 CZ 308814 B6 snížení intenzity za účelem lokálního předehřevu plochy vnější elektrody 2 a stabilizaci procesu (předehřev probíhá sníženou intenzitou laserového paprsku v oblasti 100 W/mm2). Tento proces je zvolen z důvodu postupného odvádění tepla od procesního místa.- 2 CZ 308814 B6 intensity reduction for the purpose of local preheating of the outer electrode surface 2 and stabilization of the process (preheating takes place by reduced intensity of the laser beam in the region of 100 W / mm 2 ). The welding process itself takes place in pulse mode, where the welding process itself takes place in two consecutive cycles (phase II and phase III) lasting 0.75 to 1 second, respectively. two consecutive laser beam pulses with an intensity of 1500 to 2000 W / mm 2 . This process is chosen due to the gradual removal of heat from the process site.
Zlepšují se mechanické vlastnosti difúzního spoje 5 / návaru (nánosu 4) - předehřev pozitivně ovlivňuje mechanické vlastnosti návaru, zvyšuje pevnosti Rm a mez kluzu Re.As mentioned above, to stabilize the process after evaporation of the anti-corrosion surface layer, the intensity of the laser beam is reduced and the outer electrode 2 is preheated to prevent premature melting of the process site of this outer electrode 2. This preheating (phase I) fundamentally affects the subsequent temperature cycle. in the cooling phase (slower cooling has a positive effect on the emerging structure), the subsequent structure of the diffusion joint 5 and weld (deposit 4, hydrogen diffusion (hydrogen diffusion into the weld is a negative phenomenon, preheating eliminates this process) and the level and distribution of residual stresses (preheating has a positive effect on the minimization of tensile stresses in the diffusion joint 5 and the weldment itself (deposit 4), the minimization of tensile stresses results in the minimization of cracks and defects) The mechanical properties of the diffusion joint 5 / weldment (deposit 4) are improved. properties of the weld, increases the strength R m and the yield strength Re.
Následuje další fáze uvedeného procesu (fáze II), kterou je vznik difúzní vazby resp. spoje 5 a první cyklus výstavby návaru (nánosu 4) přídavného materiálu. Po vychladnutí na požadovanou teplotu následuje další fáze III, která má obdobný průběh jako předchozí fáze II.This is followed by another phase of the process (phase II), which is the formation of a diffusion bond or. joints 5 and the first cycle of construction of the deposit (deposit 4) of the additional material. An increase in the intensity of the laser beam in the second pulse causes the surface of the outer electrode to heat above the melting temperature, the surface layer of the outer electrode 2 melts to a depth of about 0.1 mm. The powder (W or Pt or Ir) fed to the process site in the resulting melt is also melted by the laser beam and a metallurgical bond is formed between the powder and the outer electrode 2. Heat dissipation from the process site to the body of the outer electrode 2 causes the melt to solidify. In order to prevent the outer electrode 2 from overheating and melting, the construction of the weld (deposit 4 of additional material) is carried out in two cycles. In this intermediate phase, the radiation intensity is reduced and the process site cools down to an optimum temperature of around 300 ° C. After cooling to the desired temperature, another phase III follows, which has a similar course as the previous phase II.
V této fázi III výstavby návaru (nánosu 4 přídavného materiálu) způsobí nárůst intenzity laserového paprsku ve třetím pulzu zahřátí plochy vnější elektrody 2 nad teplotu tání a dochází k natavení povrchové vrstvy návaru z prvního cyklu (fáze I) v hloubce cca 0,1 mm. Odvod tepla z procesního místa do těla vnější elektrody 2 způsobuje tuhnutí taveniny a v opakovaném cyklu tavení a tuhnutí je vystavěn návar (nános 4 přídavného materiálu) do požadované výšky. 4. Jestliže má nanesená vrstva 4 z důvodu šetření jejího materiálu tvar elipsy (v půdorysném pohledu), koncová část vnější elektrody se zastřihne do klínovitého tvaru se zkosením v oblasti 10 až 30° o šířce vnějšího okraje ve vrcholu tohoto klínu 0,8 až 2 mm.In this phase III construction of the weld metal (deposit 4 of additional material), the increase of the laser beam intensity in the third pulse causes the outer electrode 2 to heat above the melting temperature and the surface layer of the weld metal from the first cycle (phase I) melts to a depth of about 0.1 mm. Heat dissipation from the process site to the body of the outer electrode 2 causes the melt to solidify, and in a repeated melting and solidification cycle, a deposit (deposit 4 of additional material) is exposed to the desired height. The shape and height of the coating 4 are shown in Figures 1 and 2, the length of the coating 4 being in the range from 1 to 6 mm. This is followed by machining (milling or grinding) of the applied layer into the final shape (Fig. 3), i.e. cleaning of the applied layer 4 into the final shape in order to create a flat functional surface for an even spark jump. The height of the layer after machining (milling or grinding) ranges from 0.2 to 1.2 mm. After milling the applied layer 4, the shape of the end of the outer electrode 2 is cut. The shape and dimensions of the cut are shown in Fig. 4. If the applied layer 4 has an elliptical shape (in plan view), the end part of the outer electrode is cut to wedge-shaped with a bevel in the region of 10 to 30 ° with a width of the outer edge at the apex of this wedge of 0.8 to 2 mm.
Návar wolframu W (přídavného materiálu) na vnější elektrodu 2 je prováděn metodou laserového navařování (Laser Cladding, LMD - laser metal deposition, LDMD - laser direct metal deposition, 3D LMD - 3D laser metal deposition). Bylo použito vysokovýkonného pevnolátkového laseru s kontinuálním (CW) zářením o vlnové délce 800 až 1100 nm a minimální intenzitou záření 500 W/mm2 . Laserový paprsek je z laserového zdroje sveden skrze optické vlákno do procesní hlavice uzpůsobené pro vytváření povlaků a vrstev metodou laserového navařování. Navařovaný prášek je nesen z diskového podavače do procesní hlavice tlakovým inertním plynem Ar, prášek je nesen k procesnímu místu axiálně s laserovým paprskem. Celý proces probíhá v ochranné atmosféře Ar. Tento inertní plyn je také k procesnímu místu přiváděn skrze procesní hlavici axiálněWelding of tungsten W (additional material) on the outer electrode 2 is performed by laser welding (Laser Cladding, LMD - laser metal deposition, LDMD - laser direct metal deposition, 3D LMD - 3D laser metal deposition). A high-power solid-state laser with continuous (CW) radiation with a wavelength of 800 to 1100 nm and a minimum radiation intensity of 500 W / mm 2 was used . The laser beam is guided from the laser source through an optical fiber to a process head adapted to form coatings and layers by laser welding. The welded powder is carried from the disk feeder to the process head by a pressurized inert gas Ar, the powder is carried to the process site axially with a laser beam. Continuous supply of inert gas (carrier and protective) is ensured by reducing valves with the possibility of flow and pressure regulation. For disc feeders, it is possible to regulate the dosing of additional material in the range of 0.1 to 100 g / min. The intensity of the laser beam radiation can be regulated in the range of 50 to 6000 W / mm 2 , with the possibility of time modulation of the pulse from 0.01 s 5 to a fully continuous mode. The process head (coaxial nozzle with cooling channels) for welding has modularly variable collimation and focusing optics for changing the geometry of the laser beam at the welding process site.
Chladnutí vnější elektrody 2 s řízeným ohřevem v konečné fázi procesu zamezuje vzniku tvrdé a ίο křehké struktury, minimalizuje vznik tahových napětí v návaru a riziko vzniku trhlin a jak již bylo uvedeno, zlepšuje mechanické vlastnosti návaru, zvyšuje pevnost Rm a mez kluzu Re.Cooling of the outer electrode 2 with controlled heating in the final stage of the process prevents the formation of hard and brittle structure, minimizes the formation of tensile stresses in the weld and the risk of cracking and, as already mentioned, improves the mechanical properties of the weld, increases Rm strength and yield strength Re.
